I see it completly different! What counts is the soul behind the song. At least Sexy was very congenial to Miss You. Even Rod did admit at the time that he had been influenced by MY!

QuoteErik_Snow Though it's not as easy to complete as the 71 UK Tour...only 3 shows available + Marquee Club.....what a shame! Plus the fact that it was an somehow interesting tour in small theaters! It's a pity there ain't more from those gigs!

Quotekeefriffhard4lifeQuotemarcovandereijkOne can go on for ever of course with examples like these. Just from top of my head: Ben E King (Stand by me) vs Police (Every breath you take) Stones (Miss you) vs Rod Stewart (Da ya think I'm sexy) Gloria Gaynor (I will survive) vs Robbie Williams (Love supreme) so rod heard a song in '78 then wrote a song that copied it and recorded it

How about the great Brown sugar (Birthday version w. Clapton) unreleased?! And 1 or 2 more unreleased songs from 70's/ 80's. Not really rarities in that sense. But would make such a compilation much more interesting and surprising.

Only heard a bad download so far. From this Keith "solo" on Sympathy seems like the worst lead fumbling ever recorded by a professional rockmusican! Live he's doing these kind of embarrassing noises on SFTD for years now. I really wonder what goes on in his head giving things like this to his audience. I know and love the Stones and so don't expect any virtuosity

@ hbw Funny and interesting photo! Where did you find it? Did you have a look at the LA Times' archive? Great that nice pics like this one still come up after all these years. And there have to be much more of them!

QuoteTumblin_Dice_07QuoteGreenblues What's the purpose of your personal project? A compilation? Or is it just out of sheer interest in the music? I often regret the fact that there's not enough time anymore to really compare all those recordings back to back. It's more like a whine cellar nowadays. You open the door from time to time, sweep the dust off a particular bottle and ta

After thinking about it (but without looking) didn't Mick J. drive on his bandmates during some songs cause they played too slow?! Somehow I have that in mind.

The exact story was (as told by Keith in an interview . .!): He played ASMB at his home before the official release. When he came back into the room his daughter and friends were singing Lang's Constant Craving over their planned new single's refrain. He was kind of shocked/ worried and told Mick about this. Keith' version! You'll never know! Btw. I can't see much

The Hall of Fame - Madonna is in but the Faces not! What a joke!! I loved them too although live Ronnie often played even more slobby than with the Stones.

Haven't seen that one for a long time. Where did you see this? In which songs? But I think that could be true! Most of the band were in another dimension in those days . .

Btw It's ridicilous to compare the Verve song to The Last Time original! It was taken from the A. Oldham version.

From just listening to those snippets and the boots I'm afraid musically (from the playing) it'll be the worst live-set yet! The licks tour (Live Licks) was superiour. Only 2-3 songs seem to be really good plus some nice moments here and there. But the recording will be good and hopefully they managed to work it up by clever mixing/ overdubs, etc. After some weeks on the market w

Don't want to spoil the fun. But I'd really hoped Scorsese would dig deeper than Charlie is my darlin, etc. again for his docu intercuts!

Don't know why most people speak that bad about Live Licks. Yeah, the edits are very annoying! (Rocks Off being the worst). But the sound is good and has raw guitars. I liked to listen to the CD's. Esp. the 2nd.! Really apart from edits and shortenings (on some songs I even don't mind) the songs flow quite nice and the playin is good.

To me the 95 club shows belong to the best stuff too! Great setlists (esp. Amsterdam) and they were in top form! Just listen to Gimme Shelter, Shine a light, etc! Some of Ronnies best stuff with the Stones! But while there are official recordings from all 95 club gigs and the 2 El Mocambo shows, they didn't record the Stu gig at all. So that one is out of the game . .

Imagine all those great stuff in LYL quality! Even if they ruined some songs this is really one of the best forgotten gems! Hardly any other early live material with such a wide setlist in so great pro-sound! Hope they still have the tapes.

QuotemarcovandereijkI never realised how small this joint really is. What the wet stuff on Keith's left arm? Sweat?! Remember he wasn't in a good shape in those days!! and great pics! I always wondered why there've been so few pics from those important gigs. There must have been some photographers for shure.(and you can see some in the pic) And what a great way to se

In the 70's I became friends with their drummer on Abba's European tour. He's been a nice bloke. But, - that guy was black! Was that him or did they change drummers?

Years ago I saw At the Max at the Imax in Düsseldorf and it was really great! Now I just found out that in Germany most Imax have shut down.(Espec. in North/west). Is Amsterdam the only Imax in Netherland? Would like to see it in this format.
