QuoteTravelinMan QuoteHairball QuoteDandelionPowderman Slide on TD? Sounds like a slide lick right at the 2:50 mark, followed by very subtle licks in the background, and then another more prominent at 3:10. I always thought it was slide - could be just the way it's played though. Yeah, and around 2:10 and some other places throughout. It sounds like a different take than Richards

Terrible . Just terrible. Spent last week there. My thoughts goes out to all the magnificent people of Nice, to the victims and their families. My deepest condolences.

QuoteFather Ted Not read Greenfield's book. Is it a first-hand account? I don't recall hearing his name mentioned as being present at Nellcote. Yes Greenfield was there. He arrived at Nellcote on May 21st 1971 to make appointment for the Rolling Stone interview, and left same day for Cannes. Then he returned and did the RS interview-session between May 27th and June 11th. He wa

Their Bermondsey rehearsal-space would be a nice addition. Important role in the story of Exile.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteVideoJames QuoteDandelionPowderman I reckon the original demo is very short, VideoJames? As to the Sophia Loren 71 version, no it is a full song 3 min +. I meant Plundered My Soul, as the released version obviously is a looped groove. Yes it would be great to know more about these two tracks in the form you are describing VideoJames ! I understand that post

Quotematxil Maybe part of the magic of EOMS, in general, is the amount of layers to each song. (Although I don't think its magic can ever be completely explained.) Oh yes! Took me until last winter (28 years) to hear the wonderful track entering on 0:46, slidework that shadows Keiths main riff thoughout in a "straighter way", fattening Keiths track, adding a flare here and there

QuoteRev. Robert W. It's a beast of a track--so much sweat and tension. And Nicky Hopkins plays like a madman... Yep! You said it. Its building like crazy though what must have been the hazy summer madness. I`ve loved it for soooo many years but it still reveals itself to me. Such a marvellous, marvellous piece of emotionally driven, authentic music.

QuoteNaturalust Exile to me is a kind of record that benefited from it's more muddy blended mixes and lower frequency warmness, I can't imagine hearing the high transients and cymbal hits would help it much. I wholeheartedly agree, Sir. The 2010 remaster did bring out some of those upper frequencies, and while it was an OK affair (I can't say I get worked up over it) the

QuoteTurner68 was it really not worked on at nellcote at all? wow. Oh it was worked on very much in Nellcote. Whether those sessions are heard on Exile is another discussion however Good time Woman was brought down to Nellcote among the Bermoundsey tracks in the spring of 71, and work on the track started in the basement after that. Keith is on quote saying he wrote the opening riff in the

A very nice little song. Great groove while being slightly ballad-ish. I always assumed the basis stemmed from the GHS sessions?

QuoteHis Majesty Likely the leslie guitar, bass and drums is from the recording at Olympic Studios 1969/1970. The backing vocals were recorded in LA. Some form of Jaggers vocal was recorded at Olympic Studios as well, we hear it leak on the bootleg backing track, but he may have re done them in LA. So a track which features recordings from before and after, but, unless the horns were r

My go-to album. Never get tired of it. The band on top of their game. A great album that will always create these marvelous debates about fillers, preferences and wheather it should be a single or double album. For me it´s the fact that it is double that gives the album its scope, depth and atmosphere.

QuoteDandelionPowderman So how is Roundhouse and Leeds?? From Tumblingdice in the other thread: Quotetumblingdice Seems to be a great mix, much better than the Brussels release. Taylor is just right and Keith still right up there too. But LIV and SCB on disc 2 are perfect. Great!!

Quotegypsy18 Thank you. If this helps, my decision-making abilities were impaired earlier. (...) I'm a huge Anita fan, and a bunch of girlfriends and I started the first Anita website in 1999 - waaaay back when you couldn't find a single photo of Anita on the web. Your love for Anita is very well known and that site used to be a shrine for all of us interested in allthings relate

QuoteCaptainCorella Mine (bought in week of release in the UK) is COC 59100 A4/B4 (slightly strange?) and the zipper tag is rounded. I also have a UK CD (CDVX 2730) which is one of the "Original Album Package" series on Virgin (can't recall the year) and that has a small zipper. The tag on that zipper is rectangular. Geeky or what? Exactly. So A4/B4 had the round tag? Inte

Great info. What zipper came first? I have always assumed (because I´ve read it several places) it was the larger, rounded of zipper(-handle) - not the small one with square corners. However, I have never found the large zipper with early matrixes. Does anybody have that? Original UK COC 59100 A1/B1 with rounded zipper? I only have UK small zipper with A3/B3. Earliest I have found. Ever.

You are probably aware of La Galerie de L´Instant? Its located at 46, Rue de Poitou and Julia Gragnon is the salesagent of all the Dominique Tarle images. She might have some Stones related books and is a great lady. Open untill 1900hrs. Since its Saturday you might be lucky to meet Dominique too, he sometimes pops by in the early afternoon. It is true that this mono label is different than the usual white SF promo label. The RS-13653-PR is the mono code and the RS-ST .... is the stereo. So mono labels do exist. Note that Brown Sugar is above the spindle hole on the mono label and below on the stereo. I remember disussing this with the highly regarded JR back in 2009 or earlier. He usually knows what he talks about, but to my

Quotescottkeef So just like BS,Bitch and Sway..Tumbling Dice and All Down The Line were legit MONO 45 releases so are they fold down or real mono? All I know is the mono TD kicks the crap outta the LP.. They are real mono. As you are (as I am) a great fan of the TD single, you can quite easily hear the difference in arrangement on the TD single, compared to the LP version. The breakdown sect

QuoteNaturalust This song is all Keith to me, nasty and raw, leading the way out of the peace and love of the sixties and into the dark and wild 70's. Keith probably has more tracks on this tune that anybody else by a factor of three. This tune sounds like what I imagine a speedball would feel like. peace This exactly. Love.every.word.of.it.
