QuoteMathijs Early on in the '72 tour. In Seattle the original single coil was still on the guitar, a couple shows later the PAF was in place. Mathijs Wow! Impressive info. I would be very interresting to see if anyboy has more before-and-after images from early 72 tour. Where/who did the job on the guitar? RB

Love the line Keith sings 0.35 into the acapella intro of Tumbling Dice (on Stripped companion): "Cheating like I don´t know how". Sublime!

Quotestudiorambo ... a 16mm negative should have plenty of resolution for a HD digital scan before the film grain becomes an issue. That is correct. I guess the problem is that the original negative probably never (?) has been through such scanning prosess. If a lossy copy has, that means a dramatic drop in quality from the original. The source is afterall analogue.

Quotericcardo99 To me it refers to the accompanying disc to Exile, which will be Ladies & gents DVD. My thoughts exactly - whatever DVD they choose to put out. rb

If you´re into Strats, I suggest the book "The Stratocaster Chronicles" by Tom Wheeler, which is packed with info and nice images from the early models upto present. Also by the same author, "The Soul of Tone" has Fender amps as topic. Recommended! RB

QuoteMathijs I got mine through a German collector of all Boogie. He had purchased a hard wood MkI from late 76, and sold his early '77 MkI to me. Wow, great story! The Mesa is hereby on the wishlist. After the Widerange humbuckers that is. (Yesterday I was outbid on a original pair by ten stupid dollars...Irritating!) RB

Interesting! The only thing I can remember is this quote about the tube circuits, not the amp itself: From "The Fender Amp Book" by John Morrish "Amplified sound had been around almost since the invention of the thermionic valve or vacuum tube by John Fleming in 1904. The triode, the first amplifying tube, was patented by the American electrical engineer Lee de Forrest in 1

Thanks! (Ok ok ok Didn´t mean to imply "best of outtakes" is anywhere near bad. That was just a phrase. My question was about the knowledge in fancircles.) RB

I´ve always wondered - how open was the Stones about Tattoo You being a "best of outtakes" when it was released? I was too young back then in the no-internet age. What did people know? Also: I don´t have the booklet here at work, but how much was known of - say Mick Taylors work - from the liner notes/credits? RB

OK. I see. I have no knowledge about Magix Deluxe so I don´t know what output options you have but one thing is clear: You either take the 180 gig AVI or the material you put into the magix and export/recompress to a MPEG DVD file. The output file should be about 4 gig. There are different ways of doing this. I suggest you google "Magix Deluxe + tutorial" or "Magix Deluxe to DVD&

Where do you want to watch them / for what purpose do you want to convert them? You shot them in HD and you took them to DV, and then AVI? Or do you mean 2 hours of DVD? I´m a bit confused. I use Sorenson Squeeze on PC and Compressor on Mac to compress my files. You have a multitude of options in these apps and on Magix deluxe probably also eventhough I´ve never used it. Which output format

Nice interview! Tom Wheeler is the man - If anybody of you are into Strats or Fender amps you should REALLY check out his two fat Fender books. The are marvelous. Keith "wrote" the foreword in the amp book. (But if you are into that sort of stuff you certainly knew that already ) RB

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 On the other hand: take a Firebird, load it with 11's, tune it to Open D and go through a Bass amp. Ha ha. Nasty. Love it! Thanks Open-g. Will look into that. We don´t want that stringrattle, now do we? RB

Quoteopen-g 10, 13, 17, 30, 44, 52 Thats a nice gauge. It´s the one I´m currently at too. Best of both worlds IMHO. However, lately on my main Tele I´ve started to wonder if a switch to something thicker might be in place, since I tune it to Open G and sometimes in the heat of the moment when hitting that open low chord, the strings rattles like crazy. Probably to do with my heavy attack. And t

Well I believe its really simple. They shot the whole performance with Jaggers live-lead-vocal-over-track. Then they did two inserts of Jagger (one with Tyler in the background) afterwards without mic and overlaid that on the performance. Voila! RB

Well, there´s a multitude of TABs and guitartranscriptions out there for us Keef wannabes. However, lately (just this morning: "Carol" on the GYYO acetate and Tumbling Dice on the Stripped Companion) I´ve been thinking about freshing up my old pianoskills. Wouldn´t it be marvelous just to be able to know some of those piano runs of Nicky and Ian (ok, and on a shady day: Chuck)? Does

Quoteskipstone I think, if any Stones album was to ever be remixed, that Bob Clearmountain should do it. In fact, he should do everything. His mixes are incredible. Indeed. This one is sooo brilliant. Have listened to it all day and sent it to all friends interrested. RB
