QuoteIGTBA Quotewineaux For those asking for suggestions on things to do on the 'off' nights.... Rolling Stones Project on May 29th. Have seen them here a few times... great venue! I don't post here much (except in the Hyde Park "confusion" i.e. they lied to us thread). I bought two tickets to see the RS Project - will be traveling from near south part of Magni

We heard it too.... couldn't pick up on every word they said though, but it definitely had something to do with playing @ McCormick Place back in '64 or '65. It was great to see them interacting so well... actually, the entire band seemed tight last night!

To get a real feel of who or what type of musician Buddy Guy is, read his book... When I Left Home. I purchased my copy @ Legends back in January, signed personally by the man himself. He was even gracious enough to let me have his picture taken with him just after signing.

Looks like Buddy is in town until June 1st when he'll be playing in Biloxi, MS & then again on 6/7 in Maryland Heights, MO. Chicago Blues Fest starts on June 6th and I heard that Buddy will be appearing on June 5th as part of the Blues Breakers Broadcast.

Forgot to mention that being your first show, it'll be phenomenal! Just take it all in.... my 1st show was back in '81 and I haven't missed any of the Chicago tours since. Enjoy! If this is your 1st time in Chicago, also try to hit Buddy Guy's Legends and Rosa's Lounge. Great blues clubs!

Have been there for many shows over the years.... it just depends on where your seats are and the setup. For the most part, the sound isn't great... have seen the Stones there about 5x and all but one show sounded good. If you're in town the next night, check out the Rolling Stones Project @ Martyr's. They put on a great, laid-back show with a lot of talent!

I'm thinking Shemekia Copeland (daughter of Johnny Copeland and the current 'Queen of the Blues') on Tumbling Dice..... Johnny recorded Tumbling Dice on Paint it Blue. Shemekia also opened for the Stones @ the Aragon along with Dr. John. Buddy Guy has to be a given for one of the nights.... was also hoping for Champagne & Reefer (both the song and literally!).

I have some friends who saw them last week in Florida and said they were great and much better than expected. I thought I had read something the other day about CSNY touring together again, but can't find that now. "Guess it's just another dream"... Slipping Away!

Thanks to all for the info... I'll just keep my fingers crossed that something comes through. If not, we'll head down to the UC the nights of the shows with some cash in our pockets & see what we can pick up from the scalpers. Have had luck with that in the past for other shows. Hoping for a surprise club show sometime within the week they're in town also. Am thinking Le

Well, I tried purchasing tix through the Citi Card presale when they first went on sale, and couldn't swing paying the $600. I haven't missed a tour since '81 and certainly don't want to miss out on this one. We've been out of town the last couple of weeks with no email access and wasn't aware of the $85 tix. Have been trying to obtain info on the possibility of r

Haved lived in Chicago my entire life and been going to blues clubs since the mid-70's (ok, showing my age here!). B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted & Rosa's Lounge on Armitage are both what a great little blues bar should be and 2 of the best places to catch live blues in Chicago. One night a week (Sunday or Monday?), if you go to either Kingston Mines or B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted, you can get i

We're spoiled here in Chicago... get to see him quite often. The best place is at Legends, the blues club he owns in Chicago. Buddy plays at least 16 shows every January... it's the absolute best place to see Buddy be able to just be Buddy! We always get there by 11 AM and make a day of it. Get a table near the stage and talkl with other blues fans all day long. Buddy has enterta

Edith Grove... thanks for posting for me! We knew the night was going to be special mainly because Ronnie Baker Brooks & Big Head Todd together would be a great show. About halfway through, Ronnie makes mention of special guests in the house (his Dad, Lonnie Brook, brother Wayne Baker Brooks, best Chicago DJ and host of Blues Breakers Tom Marker, and none other than Steve Jordan). Saw Ronnie Baker Brooks & Big Head Todd @ Fitzgerald's just outside of Chicago last night. Steve Jordan (Xpensive Wino drummer) was a surprise guest! Have plenty of pics, but can't figure how to post them. Ronnie & Todd first played together @ Fitzgerald's last year for the Hubert Sumlin Tribute night. They've since decided to do a tour together... definitely a
