We can wait for the first one to answer Mick Taylor.... I don't really like "what if questions" and I think The Stones made the right decision to chose Ronnie.

Well, I guess the lyrics of this song were not the most thought out lyrics in their catalogue. But to me the lyrics are the least important element of this song. This is just straightforward rock and roll and that's what matters

Now, while we're at it: I read in an article about D.H. Lawrence this week that the name Lady Jane is (was) used as a synonym for the female genitalia (like Lord Thomas was used for the masculine ones). I never knew that. Does this mean that the song Lady Jane is not the courtly lovesong I have always mistaken it for? Was Sir Mick expressing his feelings towards a vagina here?

Yeah, right. I'm sorry. In the sweet ole' country where I come from we never care much about titles, but alright: where is DOCTOR Freud to explain whatever complex SIR Mick was having with mothers of any kind?

Now there are two more issues in your answer that need some elaboration: 1. You don't have Keith's permission. I think that is an important issue. Does this agency have Keith's permission I wonder? What are Keith's possibilities to get his name and picture from this website if he did not give his permission? Would Keith use these possibilities if he was aware that his name

Could it be possible that Keith got so many invitations over the years to appear here and to perform there and to speak anywhere (invitations he gladly turned down I suppose) that now he just hired this organisation as a filter to keep out those requests?

LOL, now don't tell me there are readers of Beelyboy's post that still think : Nah, I don't want to hear Handsome girls, because it's a bootleg! Big thumbs up for your enthusiasm. It's just that the Live in Perth 1973 evening show is blasting out of my speakers at the moment, otherwise I would have put on the 1978 shows right now. Still smiling.

Maybe even the line between discussing a point of view and attacking someone is drawn at different places by different people? I don't know, I think it is a great aspect of a discussion forum to mirror ones own ethics to the ethics of others. I think this a tradition that goes back as far as the ancient Greeks. And we know they did not mind to call each other "goofy" (or any rel

I will take the blame for putting some gasoline on the smouldering fire. I am sorry With Sssoul, that the flames were coming your way. Must say you did a wonderful job to get through the fire and indeed, I was out for a while enjoying myself. What is still puzzling me is the question whether I am doing any harm to the Stones while listening to a recording like Handsome girls? But since this di

Those were the days when a tour was meant to promote an album. I really appreciate this bootleg (I have the gorgious girls Redux version) because it allows me to enjoy the live interpretation of the new songs like When the whip comes down, Beast of Burden, Miss you, Just my imagination, Shattered, Respectable, Far away eyes, all back to back in a row (and Lies). Now back to the question: is it

Come on, let's not condemn this experiment. First of all I think the purpose of this show was to combine rock music with a symphonic orchestra and the fact that they chose to play Street Fighting Man at the occasion can be seen as paying tribute to one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Second I think I have seen far worse efforts by many many many other people to try to cover a Stone

Thanks for the input so far. So there's no Jeff Beck and no Wayne Perkins to be heard on the longer Tattoo You version? And is it a fact that Ronnies parts are not on this final version? Is it just Keith on all guitar parts?

I am always very intrigued by the song Slave. One of the best riffs they ever created in my opinion (maybe there will be some argument about who wrote te riff, that's why I put "they" in this sentence). There are so many persons involved in this jam and so many bootlegged versions that it is hard to keep count. The song saw the light of day in Rotterdam (where I was born to

Here's some quotes about Riffs from the Guitar Player interviews from the early 90's; (Interview by Jas Obrecht). Q: Do your songs typically begin when you find a riff? A: Mm hmm. First I find a riff and a chord sequence. And if that's any good, then I start to play it with some other guys and pump it up. If that's great, then I check the attitude and the atmosphere of

I like 'em both, of course. What's not to like? When it comes to the question which I prefer, I absolutely vote for Four Flicks. This choice might be biased because when FF came out it was a brand new experience to have a four disc document of a tour. Maybe that's just an emotional thing (but emotions DO count as an argument don't they?) And of course I really preferred t

That's it, sister. Another example of the three chord wonders, don't you think? Now, it's not very hard to transpose these chords if you want to sing the song in E instead of G for example, if that suites you better.

Starting on the IV (I hope I explain it well): Most blues songs are build around three chords: numbered I, IV and V. The key of the song is numbered I. Like Black Limousine is in the key of G, I think, so the chord G is #1. This makes A number II, B is #III, C is IV and D is V. A blues pattern in E for example has E, A and B. A standard 12-bar blues starts of with number I, then goes t
