There's a Keith comment dating not long after The Band's appearance at the '69 Isle Of Wight Festival w/ Dylan, where he essentially said they were a bit boring in concert

<<Or even leave out all together likes of in Sympathy for the Devil..the bit about the Kennedys>> That's been done since '69. As far as I recall, the only time prior to the Detroit gig on that tour the Kennedy line was included, was in fact at the Dallas show...hardly just a strange coincidence

Marhsall, have you tried searching for it in the Hot Stuff section? Can't imagine it's not there in some format <<I would choose the Capitol Theater show as the concert to be featured>> Wouldn't mind that wonderfully ragged show getting an official release, either ...and they should throw in the Palladium and Memphis gigs in as well

A couple from Changes Mag's report on the band's '69 stay at the MSG Got no specific info from which of the three shows these are Not the finest scans, but the mag is very yellowy and its format doesn't really fit an a4 scanner... Photo creds: Left: John Bellissimo Right: Joseph Stevens

<<Ronnie has played onstage at an Inaugural part for the Republican party in january 1989, which was (I think) attended by the newly elected President George Bush.>> There's a docu on Lee Atwater called Boogie Man, which includes a few clips from that party. Not only did Bush attend. He got up on stage as well playing a bit of air guitar

<<even if not technically the stones....>> Since the panel apparently accepts sideprojects too - like the Winos' way of playing Happy, we may just as well throw in the Barbarians' version of JJF Also, I seem to recall Sympathy played with some sort of an false ending on the Licks tour at least once - namely the Stockholm club gig

Doxa, thanks for the t's & x's First off, I didn't read any objectivity/finality into your first post - just a good old-fashioned opinion Whether there's a trend of 'lowering of standards' in general is a serious claim, which I have no basis for objecting to or agreeing with - so I won't go there However for me personally, I would say there's

Isn't there a dub of Beast Of Burden from when Keith cut a few tracks with Black Uhuru ca 79/80? Could it be that Elliott simply mixed those two up?

<<I would go with Keith's produced "Wingless Angels", which isn;t reggae at all, but wonderful.>> Palace, if you dig Wingless Angels, you should definetely check out Count Ossie's Grounation record ...same kind of thing just jazzier - and just as wonderful as the Angels' effort

I like those from US '69 the most. Some very intense versions they did back then Don't care particularly for the 72-73 versions. Played too fast and Taylor's solos doesn't really do anything for me On tota very much hit or miss. There's a few terrific ones from the last part of the tour I can't think of any version from the last twenty years that I've found

with sssoul, I only read behroez' last post where he quoted 71Tele before posting I see now - after reading his response to you - that my post easily can be taken as being a confirmation of what he wrote in that answer to you. It was not intended as such In fact I have absolutely no recollection of that Brian's father saying in that interview Brian wrote that song I really wish I c

<<He was able to move you and to touch the soul of the song involved>> I don't find the Stones music to be particularly moving. Brian's slide on No Expectations might in fact be the only time I've been truly moved by Stones guitar part To me they are basically all about the groove - live especially - which I think Ronnie had a natural feel for, so I'm not sorry

<<That's a fairly ubiquitous Chuck Berry stop-start riff>> To my ears The Stones' take on this track is basically a copy of the version Chuck put on his Rockin' At The Hops album Great version, indeed. Stu's paino rules on this one

<<is it as good as it sounds?>> Chris, it carries some of the same characteristics from The Heartbreakers Having people joining in throughout the gig only makes it even more ragged Anyway, Johnny's reading of CS Blues alone makes it a concert worth tracking down imo dcba, you might want to know that a better sounding, more complete recording with true lineage have been ci
