I saw Badfinger open for (of all people) the Marshall Tucker Band, in Virginia, 1974. I remember really looking forward to hearing them, because I loved their hits like "No Matter What," "Baby Blue, etc. God,they were bloody awful. First song was fair, second song down a notch, and by the end of the show they sounded like an out of tune garage band. I saw the Faces with

Tickets for my first Stones show ('75 Tour of the Americas, Greensboro, NC), were $8.50. I remember seeing George Harrison during his '74 tour, the tickets were $9.50, and all of us were OUTRAGED. The NERVE!! It was like, "Oh, I'll PAY it, it's George Harrison...but nine fifty? Jeez....." Most early to mid 70s shows were about five bucks. My, how times hav

Took the family of four to see them here in Atlanta in October, and they were excellent. I think Stadium Arcadium was one of the top 5 albums of 2006, still listening to it.

Good point. I meant original members of the band. If Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones decided to go out and call it Led Zeppelin, I think it would fit the theory just fine, no matter who was on drums. I understand that Dave Davies, with the stroke, can play guitar.....OR sing.....but not both at the same time. Saw Ray solo last year, it was a great show.

My own personal theory, but I strongly feel that you must have at least three original members of a band to be able to bill yourselves as that group. The Stones, thankfully, still fit the bill with Mick, Keith, and Charlie. The Beach Boys concert I saw in 95 just barely made it, with Carl Wilson, Al Jardine, and Mike Love. I've seen the Who four times, once with the original four,

I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders (with only Paul Revere himself on keyboards as the remaining original member of the band) here in Atlanta at an oldies show in 1995, headlined by the Beach Boys (who at least still had Carl Wilson on stage with them). I was a big Raiders fan in the 60s, so it was still good to hear some of the hits, but, unfortunately, several of the songs were grouped together

First thing that pops in my mind was the live version of "Ruby Tuesday" that they performed during Steel Wheels in 1989, That was pretty danged close to the original version.

The Association (remember "Windy," "Cherish," "Never My Love," "Along Comes Mary," etc. January 1970, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. Later in 1970 I saw bands like Grand Funk Railroad, Iron Butterfly, Chicago. First Stones show (out of nine) was Tour of the America's, 1975, Greensboro, NC

Well said! And, even though I love Ronnie to death, I STILL think of him as "the new guy!" If and when Charlie ever hangs it up for good, I think that'll be all, folks. I just hope we get one more chance to see 'em here in the USA.

Yeah, probably. But I'm still one of Mick's biggest fans, anyway. I can only imagine how many times he's had a paper and pen shoved in his face over the past, what, 44 years? Keith was just such a good guy doing this for me that whenever I see the band live, my "KEITH!!" cheer when he sings his songs in the middle of the concert is usually the loudest in the arena!

Well, I tried, but I'm not as computer savvy as I would like, plus, I have an old computer on dial up. :-( Scanning it was no problem, but I can't paste it on this site. Any suggestions?

In 1989, I was on the staff at the Art Institute of Atlanta, which at the time had a music management program. One of our students, a very nice young girl by the name of Debbie, was working with a local concert production company at the time as an intern, and wound up with the job of being sort of a "hospitality flunkie" backstage when the Steel Wheels tour rolled into Atlanta in Novem

Wow, THANKS! E-mail is: BYoung1441@aol.com I would only want the 1997 show. I could not attend the 2002 show at Turner Field because of a family commitment, and was so upset I didn't listen to any Stones music for about two months!

Yeah, we had Chuck Leavell there as well at an earlier year, also a person who went out of his way to be nice to folks. Were you there when Rick Derringer came to visit? Very wild sense of humor!

I was 12 years old in 1967 when She's a Rainbow came out on 45, with 2,000 Light Years from Home on the B side. I remember being home with a bad case of tonsilitis, feeling like crap, but listening to those two songs over and over always made me feel better. Two other great Nicky Hopkins Stones moments are: Angie (never my favorite Stones song, but he plays so well on that tune) No

Here are the nine times that I have seen them, ranked in order of personal enjoyment: 1. October 5, 1989 Birmingham, AL (The single finest rock and roll show I ever witnessed live) 2. July 31, 1975 Greensboro, NC (Maybe not the best musical event ever, but finally seeing your favorite band live for the first time is an unforgettable event) 3. December 9, 1997 Atlanta, GA (Bridge

I've always considered Nicky Hopkins' piano a big part of the vintage Stones sound. In the 80s, I worked at the Art Institute of Atlanta, which at the time had a music management program. Nicky was in town promoting a project of some sort, and agreed to come by the school to be a guest lecturer to the students. Being on the staff, I got to go with him and a group of teachers for a Ch
