Quotedcba Quotebigmac7895 Confession 4- When the Black Crowes were together and touring, they do a much better job of sounding like the Stones on covers than the Stones. I respectfully disagree : live they did a bunch of Stones covers but none of them had the sex appeal of the originals. I guess I should restate. The 2006-2013 live Crowes of Stones songs (not vocals never the vocals) are bett

Confession 1- I love a lot of the 60s/70s AOR bands, but really never got into The Who, The Doors, or the Kinks. I have each of their greatest hits collections but they could easily be coasters on my table. Confession 2- worked at a record store in early 90s so an album arrived "Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 by George Michael (I loathed Wham and Duran Duran),so I bought it and it was ex

What Long John Stoner said is exactly my thoughts. Just play Henley and Walsh tunes and let Jackson Browne do Take it Easy, and one of his solo songs and be done.

Oh yeah I hear Hand of Fate in Broken Hands. I guess I need to add Taylor's solo release into iTunes and listen to the whole album.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotebigmac7895 I know that Leather Jacket ended up on the 79 solo release (was an acoustic instrumental in exile sessions), but what did it have to do with Hand of Fate or am I reading that post wrong? Not acoustic. Here it is, ironically with Keith on lead guitar. Not sure why I thought it was acoustic - maybe I should have said "light rock" like Sea

QuoteRocky Dijon I'm guessing he meant "Broken Hands" which has a bit of "Hand of Fate" to it...of possibly vice versa. I tried YouTube and that track (Broken Hands) has not been loaded by anyone. I do have a lot of old CDs loaded of unreleased tracks from various bootlegs. Is there a title of one that would have this track (if it was a precursor to Hand of Fate)? Thanks

QuoteSteen G It is a difficult list. Some songs has been released (Leather Jacket - that both were released and turned up as Hand of Fate), others in a different relation (Act together) etc. And then the much more secret that really are missing. Steen G, am I reading this correctly that Leather Jacket transformed into Hand of Fate? Never heard that and I'm trying to hear this in my head.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to do a playlist and give them a try. I know the hits- just not the deep cuts that would fill out the best 20 or so songs.

Thank you Rank Stranger for the link of this discussion 6 years ago. The set list for that Newcastle show definitely deserves to see the soundboard released some day. Would love that show, the 72 Vancouver where they debuted some Exile tracks and then the 73 benefit concert.

Read this article today and it says they played CYHMK at the first show with Wild Horses before dropping it. I know Wyman said they were played in his book and several folks argued saying he was wrong. Is there any audio of this show? Or could this be considered a Holy Grail show?

I'm sure there are those that may think the Dead are boring but the same time period of the glory years of rock with Stones, Who, Zeppelin,Bowie's Ziggy years, Elton and early Rod/Faces, was also a great time for the Dead in creativity. I agree with the writer above as Ripple I think is a very well written song lyrically. The Dead may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I would say o

So the overdubs that Chris M analyzed and others are speaking to are more than likely vocal and Keith redoing his solo parts on a few songs, plus erasing Taylor's lead on JJF? It appears Taylor's parts are still there on the songs he played rhythm. I remember reading on one song there appears to be 3 parts but I have never heard using good headphones any point on Ya Yas where there is 3

Definitely one of my favorite tracks they ever did. I do like the 1969 Hyde Park version; although, it's a bit sped up and to me. The 73 Nicaraguan Benefit is sublime and I wish we could get an official version - Stones have enough money, release it to benefit another area needing money.

I was listening to this yesterday and noticed the bass line in some of the instrumental parts sounded either like a part in While my Guitar Gently Weeps or maybe it is the descending line in 25 or 6 to 4. What do your ears hear? 3:35 onward is what I'm talking about. The timing and a lot of thee song reminds me of the ending of WMGGW

I agree with Palace Revolution there is no CYHMK. I think the above commenter is seeing a small bit of the Midnight Rambler middle breakdown and thinking he hears a bit of CYHMK. Good footage nevertheless.

That whole album is very underated. Love the heaviness and darker Bowie. Great songwriting- The Width of a Circle.

Someone asked earlier if Mick Ronson could have handled the axe after Taylor left and after digging out my Bowie DVD of the last live show and watched Ronson play, the answer is YES! You tube The Width of a Circle and watch the whole thing. Plus Ronson played some very Stonesy licks with Watch that Man and The Jean Genie.
