QuoteThe Mez Such a waste of money............ MEZ A waste of money for who.... you? If Keith wants a kick ass pad in a prime location in NYC then it is not a waste of money. Keith can afford it and there are certainly much worse things than investing in prime real estate that Keith and his family can actually use.

Of the 3 shows I actually saw, Springsteen (who I despise) and GaGa in her monster ball drag were horrible guest's. Aaron Neville was certainly good. For me the surprise was Katy Perry. Although I did not know any of her solo material, Perry's performance with the Stones was great and I loved the chemistry between her and Mick. As for the all of the many shows I did not get to see live,

Tedeschi's got a great, great voice and judging from the You Tube video the audience who are likely very drunk and/or high seem to enjoy her guitar solo. Tedeschi's guitar solo sounds very amateurish maybe she was just having a bad night...

Not a fan of Little Feat they are not my cup of tea. Way back in the 80's and early 90's Classic rock stations in the Washington DC area used to play the hell out of Dixie Chicken, Oh Atlanta, Fat Man in the Bathtub and Sailin' Shoes sometimes multiple times per day. UGHH that sh*t's still etched in my brain (and not necessarilary in a good way) and I can't get it out.

Keith, Mick, Charlie and Ronnie ARE the Rolling Stones. The others play WITH the Rolling Stones.

Quote1962 QuoteHanns Rainsch As a Japanese fan I would be really pissed. 3 greatest hits shows. Even the two shows in 2006 appear like club gigs, setlist wise, compared to this. But you are not a Japanese fan. Japanese fans seem to be very satisfied in Tokyo! +1

Wow, lots of opinions about the set list but not much about the performance itself. Were the Stones on fire at Tokyo Dome? How was Keith's playing, Mick's voice and Charlie's drumming?

I thought it was great. One of the few very ballads, and a heavy metal one at that, which I really like.

If I were seeing the Stones for the first time I would be glad to hear a similar setlist to Abu Dhabi. I doubt many of the locals, seeing the Stones live for the first time, thought the setlist sucked. I suspect there will be a few suprises in Japan though. For me I am just thrilled that the Stones are still touring.

The Stones owe us nothing but I still would not rule out a few MSG shows before it's all said and done (for this 2014 tour anyway). It is good that the Stones are doing live concerts for fans in other country's besides the USA, Canada & England (even though I won't get to see them unless I win the lottery). I am just glad they are still touring and bringing happiness to people

QuoteAquamarine How can it be the music of youth, if all its fans are (by your logic) older people? (Personally I think it USED to be the music of youth, but has long since transcended age, and is way more alive and well than folks seem to be aware.) Maybe I was not clear in what I was trying to say. Rock and roll is the music of my youth and all the Rock artists and groups I love became widel

Yes, Yes it is. Rock-n-Roll has been dead for a long time now. No brand new earth shaking R-N-R albums, no up and coming young new Rock and Roll artists and/or super groups. Other than the existing old Gods still performing, most new young Rock artists /groups are now largely unknown or at best known at the local or maybe regional level if they are really lucky. To me Rock and Roll will always be

Moncton, Canada in '05 had a far younger crowd than any Stones concert I've been too since the Voodoo Lounge tour.

Of the 8 Bigger Bang Stones concerts I attended my very favorites were: Moncton NB (best crowd), Charlottesville VA (most unique because of the bomb threat which thank God was false), Baltimore MD (best old school small arena) and Beacon 2 NY (best special guest). IMHO the musicianship was awesome at all of these concerts!

Off the top of my head in no particular order: 1. Casino. 2. Easy Rider. 3. Groundhog day. 4. Bullitt. 5. Castaway. 6. Count of Monte Cristo (2002). 7. A Christmas Story (1983). 8. The Abominable Dr. Phibes. 9. Fast Times at Ridgemont High. 10. The Thing.

IMHO there are no disappointing Stones tours. Of course some individual shows with in a tour are not stellar. For me No Security in Charlotte, NC and opening night Boston ABB tour were not the best Stones concerts I've ever attended. Everything else has been pretty much fantastic. Other than with possible exception of the Brian Jones era, I have little interest in reading accounts of people

Quotejosef I fly via Vienna to Dubai - flight is cheaper then my early entry pit ticket ... Go directly from the airport to the Santana show on thursday and with the bus to the Stones on friday. A Desert - Rock - Weekend !!!! I wonder if there is any possibility that Carlos Santana might join the Stones on stage on Friday and jam with them for a song or two?

Wow what a great read. SFM is certainly one of my all time favorite Stones songs. I would love for the WSJ to do more Keith interviews especially about specific Rolling Stones songs.

Not a huge Pearl Jam fan, to me they are just o.k. I've seen them as a headline act a couple of times. The first time at Randall's Island in New York ('96 I think) was epic but the second time in Atlanta in '03 Vedder was on a huge political rant and it was VERY clear PJ hates the Red states. As I strongly dislike seeing overly "preachy" political bands live, I vowed

Not a big fan of Exile, I think it is way overrated. The White album is a masterpiece although I absolutely agree that cuts like Why don't we do it in the road and Honey Pie are utter Shite...

QuoteBig Al My brother picked up a few bottles of this Iron Maiden beer in a British off-licence, but have yet to see it in Canada.I haven't seen any Iron Maiden beer for sale in the U.S. either. I wonder if it is truly quality stuff or just a rip off aimed at fans of Iron Maiden?

Budwieser is OK its relatively cheap, always tastes about the same and gets the job done. Steel reserve on the other hand.....If you've ever had a 40 oz bottle of Steel reserve and allowed it to get warm before you've completely finished drinking it from the bottle, the swill (bottom inch or so of liquid that's left at the bottom) is absolutely toxic...
