Stage design is awesome, but I fear that the performance will disappoint. Forum: Tell Me
Of the shows I saw probably Levon Helm.
Not his fault, saw him in Arkansas and he had lost his voice a few days before the show.
He couldn't sing or say anything that night.
The Governor of Arkansas even presented him with an award and he couldn't even say thank you (but he was definately appreciative).
Missed his voice dearly that night - hoping to see him again for redemptio Forum: Tell Me

They've done this in the past with albums such as The White Album (Beatles), Quadrophenia (The Who), & Loaded (Velvet Underground).

I think that recession is good for concert shows, in these hard times people are looking for good fun entertainment.
I detect a slight flaw in that logic somewhere.
I would too, except that movie theatres have historically done better business in hard times because people are looking for an escape from the worries of the day. But then again, a movie is much chea Forum: Tell Me

I love it, the mortgage brokers don't take responsibility, the underwriters don't, the wall street guys don't, and the firms that rate each don't, what a joke . . . and acutally the worst is listening to those idiot home buyers who also don't take responsibility . . . one showed negative income and she thought she could afford mortgage payments, &quo Forum: Tell Me
David Gilmour replacing Sid Barrett.
Don't get me wrong - Sid was more of a lyrical genius than David - but Sid's future was bleak - even if he had continued with the band.
And luckily - Roger was then able to create some great lyrics himself. Forum: Tell Me

Reputable online or brick and mortor ticket brokers post bonds, pay taxes, and guarantee their services.
TicketsNow and Stubhub don't have tickets. They are middle men. They buy from brokers who have the seats and charge the consumer up to 100% more than the original broker. If you need to buy from a secondary ticket source, the best bet is to find a local broker who Forum: Tell Me
Before you get your hopes up....
The "millions they have been offered to do a series of shows" is more likely just a series of private dates (ala Deutsche Bank style), paid for by the financial services giants (banks, investment firms, insurance companies, etc..) before they accept government funds to "bail" them out, at which time they'll no longer be allowed to spend Forum: Tell Me

If theres no plant, its not really Zep then is it?
No it's not. Some would say the same even with Plant since Bonham has passed away.
If Jimmy calls the touring band Led Zeppelin it will only be for the money.
It would be better if he called it Zoso or something other than Led Zeppelin but ticket sales might suffer as a result.

The Community Reinvestment Act was used by government officials to force mortgage lenders to give home loans to people that would not in a million years have qualified for a loan under ordinary parameters. When these people could not/would not pay their monthly mortgage, as most free market practitioners predicted, the mortgage market crashed taking just about everything els Forum: Tell Me

It would seem that the Stones' philosophy about touring in a down economic market was summed up 30 years ago: "When the sh-t hits the fan, I'll be sitting on the can."
Jagger's a businessman of LSE pedigree. If the market tanks completely (thus depleting Shadoobees, trust fund brats, and others of their discretionary income), there's no reason to w Forum: Tell Me
Every band should play some obscure or lesser played cuts if for no other reason than to expose even the casual fan to other material they may have not heard before.
By doing that, the casual fan may buy an album, explore other unfamilar songs by the band, or simply gain a greater appreciation for the band.
The best personal example I have for this is back in 1989 the Stones played 2,000 Li Forum: Tell Me
"I don't know if the Rolling Stones would have used auto-tuning on "Paint it Black" if it had been available to them. After all, they recorded it in 1966, when your options for making a song sound better were limited to recording it again and hoping you didn't screw up as bad the second time."
Did the Stones use auto-tuning while recording ABB?

I wonder, does anyone go to a show where ticket prices are, say $90 and $75 and say, "I'll have 2 of the $75 seats"
I have seen a few times where a band will play an arena and the floor is general admission and the rest of the arena is reserved, and they charge more for the reserved seats than the floor.

What do you consider the "hottest demand" for a tour ticket?
Instant sellout?
High aftermarket resale value?
Limited tour dates?
Small venues?
High face value?
Not that these are favorite acts on my list but here are some to consider;
Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana
Garth Brooks
Barbara Streisand

Madonna (1990's)

If you don't like Mick you have to ask yourself a question.
Is it because you are envious/jealous that he does what he does without reservation and you could never have the nerve, ego, etc. to do the same?

Worst concert I NEVER saw - Ronnie Wood at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute concert at the O2 last December (aka the Led Zeppelin reunion show).
Don't get me wrong - I was at the show - but Ronnie was MIA
He was on the t-shirts, programs, etc... added to the show only about 2-3 weeks before the concert - after Pete Townshend dropped out.
I think Pete dropped out after the show was rescheduled. Forum: Tell Me
