QuoteJavadave >>> That's about the only thing I can think of that comes close to this incident - impact wise. Ahem. Buddy Holly/Richie Valens/The Big Bopper Patsy Cline/Cowboy Copas/Hawkshaw Hawkins Otis Redding/The Bar-Kays Glenn Miller Jim Croce Rick Nelson John Denver Forgive my ignorance, but didn't all of those pre-date Skynyrd's crash??

I've been incredibly intrigued by the whole story of Skynyrd since listening to them, and I just can't process how a plane could run out of fuel on such a relatively short flight. It's a story that I can't get enough of - information wise. I remember when Stevie Ray Vaughan died in the helicopter crash. I was a freshman in high school, and so many people were distraught

QuoteElmo Lewis QuoteVoodooLounge13 It must have been something to see the original Skynyrd back in the day!!!! I’m sure they were amazing. I see they’re touring this fall with ZZ Top on the Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour. Love that! Lol. Might be a good way to catch ZZ. Imagine they’d both be pretty darn good with all the hits. Have to believe Skynyrd closes because how do you not end with Freeb

From U to B&L, and including live albums, for me, I think B2B is the best cover. I'd go something like this for my Top 5: Bridges Live Licks (unedited, though collecting all the various versions was fun!) Steel Wheels Stripped Voodoo

QuoteHairball Darn it. I enjoyed seeing and playing videos directly here on IORR rather than clicking on links....oh well...maybe the problem will be fixed some day. I’ve never known how to post those vids so no changes for me.

So drawing to the end of Skynyrd's catalog, and I'm struck by a few things.... 1. There is an uncanny resemblance to the Stones, in that really Skynyrd's musical legacy stopped in 1977. Many on here argue the Stones stopped in '78. Certainly their last #1 was in 1978. These are two bands that have largely been touring on past laurels for decades as many say 'round t

I saw them for free at The Big E in Massachusetts many years back. I like them, but for me, that was the right price!

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteVoodooLounge13 QuoteIrix Quoteribbelchips Would be nice if ABKCO releases a half-speed mastered 180 gram stereo boxset that includes both mentioned live albums, Metamorphosis, (More) Hot Rocks and The Singles Collection. ABKCO re-releases the Stereo-LPs separately (e.g. BTB, AM) - . TSMR, BB & LIB were re-released as 50th Anniversary editions. BB is re-release

Is that cover image an outtake from Beyonce's cover shoot?! LOL I'm confused - so are the 3 albums they're released so far all self-released albums?

Thinking about it more, they are a band that grew and evolved without trying to stay trendy (ahem MJ), and most of their stuff is great!!! They certainly tossed off the comparisons/complaints of impersonation and developed into their own sound and selves.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteDoxa Well, according to his own words, Keith played a lot of bass in one of those sessions. So it could be also a bassist-heavy-album as well... - Doxa In that 2nd photo there appears to be a purse on the amp - wonder who's that is!? Chanel's? Duo's?

Agreed GLS!!! For me, their Top 3 are: Frost Southern By Your Side Matter of personal taste I'm sure, as Warpaint, Amorica, and Moneymaker are also great. Really, other than the lil covers ep, I think their weakest album is Snakes. Lions being a close 2nd, but I enjoy the sound of the different direction they took on that one quite a bit......

Where are they going? It's just the 2 of them at this point. They've given us some divine music over the years, but that last lil covers ep was rather forgettable. The VINYL of Before The Frost...Until The Freeze is quite possibly one of THE best albums ever recorded. I just listened again the other day. Absolutely exquisite. Appaloosa is one of my all-time favorite songs by anyone

Very sad news. All of a most talented band are now no longer with us. I've only had their Gold & Platinum album, but since this news broke, I've been listening to all of their albums, and those early albums are all great. The Last Rebel (the one I'm currently listening to) is also a nice album!!! Man, these guys could really play. I think I enjoy them more than The Allman

Quote24FPS QuoteVoodooLounge13 Could do without Clapton. Don't really feel he adds anything. Honestly, would hope for minimal outside influences unless they're to add parts, as in the rumored bass overdubs that Macca added. A sax here, some piano there. If we're gonna bring in any guest guitarist............well, do I really need to type it out??? Good god I hope you're

Quoterolling1us VoodooLounge13: You were born in 1976 and by the time TY was released you were discovering the older albums too ? Since TY was released in 1981 you were 4 or 5 years old ? I don't know but on that age exploring older albums sounds very incredible. I just want to show that i'm amazed ! At that age i was far from discovering albums It was in 1997 after seeing

While I understand that GHS is not as monumentally powerful an album as the revered Big 4, I have always felt that it was tremendously undervalued, underrated, and under-appreciated. For me, it is the 3rd best album they've ever made!!!! Reinforced even more so by the Super Deluxe that came out, as I really love the Johns' mixed tracks!!! For me, I think the first misstep in their

QuoteSpud Climbing a mountain is an impressive achievement ...sitting on top of one, not so much. As someone who mountain climbs, I wholeheartedly disagree. There is nothing quite so humbling to one's own very existence as sitting on a mountaintop and looking out over the vastness of the world below you and realizing just how precious life is and how very small one's role is in the

They are one band I've never really been able to get into. Really dug the debut album, and maybe 2 songs? thereafter. Grohl was a great drummer in Nirvana, and I loved his song, Marigold. But for me, I've never felt that FF's song stood out really from what else was out there. Nothing against anyone who does enjoy them - I know they have a massive following. I'm just not
