I was slucky enough to see the Stones, the Hip and the Black Crowes all in the past 2 years. The Stones playe dto a nearly sold out stadium in Toronto. The Hip in a 5,000 seat outdoor venue, and the Crowes playing for maybe 250 people. As far as passion, intensity, playing and band-having-fun-while-connecting-with-audience, the Stones did not hold a candle to either the Hip or the Crowes.

Gotta love Keith. Only he could say something as outrageous as this...even if it was a joke..and have everyone think he was capable of it. Joke or not, it's true to the press, and now part of the legend. Funny enough to be a joke. Pathetic enough (with Keith's past) to be true. One way or another, it won't affect a thing. The only bad publicity is no publicity.

Eric Burdon and the Animals are doing a free gig near here this Summer. Is he still worth seeing? I'm assuming that 'the Animals' he will bring are aything but the originl guys.

I am very envious! I think I have seen the Stones for the last time in North America. I am debating a trip across the pond. Not sure I can pull it off. It sounds like it will be a great party!

There had been rumors of 'special guest appearances' all day. Everyone hoped for, and got, Angus guesting, as he had been doing n Europe with the Stones. Everyone had been hoping Timberlake was NOT going to try sharing the stage with the Stones. His warm-up set was not well-received either. With all the acts there that day, from the Guess Who to the Isley Bros, it would have been ni

A great live band. I promoted a show with them in early 1982, just as Freeze Frae was released. Very nice people. They heard I was a Stones freak and their manager gave me a bag full of Stones stuff leftover from them opening for the Stones on a previous tour. Picks, buttons, passes, etc.

Thanks for postng this. I have the Toronto Rocks DVD, but it does not have much of what is on your post. I was at the show...a long hot day. Great sound for most of the bands, except the Stones. Their first few songs were very flat, and missing guitars during Start Me Up and Brown Sugar. They sounded better by the time they got to Ruby Tuesday. I was never a fan of either band, but ACDC

I have listened to this ten times over. They should have released these versions, commercially. More raw, more powerful, more STONES. Prodigal Son is outstanding. My dream Stones show is for them to do a tour of 3,000 seat theatres, playing semi-acoustic, and playing roots - blues. Stuff like Prodigal Son, Sweet Black Angel, Heart of Stone, I Got The Blues....cover songs of things that infl

In Toronto in Sept 2005 he was OK. Not great. Hit some solos, was lost and disjointed on others. I've definitely seen him worse. He may be a nice guy, but he is the weakest link in the band. He may have once been a good guitarist. He sounds great on old Faces stuff. But that much boozing has to catch up with you. He was Keith's buddy, a fun guy, fit the band's image and

OUTSTANDING stuff, Vancouver (and everyone who contributed). Nice to hear what they REALLY sounded like. I'd much rather have real than really-overdubbed. Not a criticism, just question: a couple of tracks have some static in them, that repeats in regular intervals (kind of like my original vinyl of YaYa's which saw a few too many beers spilled on it during college). Are some ta

I'd LOVE to see them do a CD of blues/r&b covers of early influences. Not very commercial, but nothing else they've released has been very commercially-successful either, in a while. Take some of the stuff that they were playing in clubs in the early 60's and record it with modern equipment...Chuck Berry, Chess stuff, etc. It'll never happen, of course, but I'd

The shows by the Who that I attended were in 1995, on the Quadrophenia anniversary tour, and they were awesome. Roger's voice iscn't quite what it was, but I thought Zak Starkey was a HUGE improvement over Kenny Jones, who was boring on the 1982 tour.

I saw the Pretenders at Blossom also. I believe in 1981. It was still the original line-up, and Chrissie toned down the lyric 'I shot my mouth off and you showed me what that hole was for...' from 'Tatooed Love Boys', because her Mom was there. Great show. I had the honor of promoting them at my college a few months later. James Honeyman-Scott, the original guitarist,

I just hope they learned from this last North American leg (or arm or liver...): 1. Don't over-saturate markets...try playing some new cities 2. Don't charge ridiculous prices and you won't have play to empty seats 3. Don't let the tour go into Autumn and end up playing cold outdoor stadiums I hope they have a great tour, and come off the road with a desire to go back

The Stones are sloppy and always have been...it's part of the charm. The Beatles had a tight, clean sound live and in the studio. The Stones never had that, and probably never will. They have wrinkles and warts, and don't cover them up. My only complaint...and it is something I hear more and more...is when they play without passion. More posing than playing. I always enjoy the

Wow, did this get off topic! Start your own topic people! Duke Astaire asked if anyone wanted him to post a bootleg by the bloody Who.... I love the Stones, but the Who, IMHO were/maybe are the better live band. I did not see them in 75, but would love the chance to hear a great recording. If you could take the time to post, I'd certainly apprciate it.

Thanks for the post...I am anxiously awaiting the chance to hear it as it downloads from Sendspace. A great live band. Very nice people, who I had the chance to meet when I promoted a show of theirs in 1982. They left all their energy on the stage at the end of the show. I wish they still toured!

A great version of the song. She and Warren Zevon shared several band members. She covered many of Zevon's songs (Hasten Down the Wind and Poor Poor Pitiful being two great ones). She had a great voice.

After seeing some things on the 'making' of a Stones concert video, I find myself wondering: is any of it real? Overdubs, speed and pitch correction...if it isn't live, don't sell it as 'live' or 'in concert'. I'd rather hear what they REALLY sound like. Maybe why I like the boots and soundboards I have found on IORR better than teh commercial re

Thanks for posting the artcle, sweet neo con! Taylor has never seemed to slag The Stones. Very class. So many things with members/ex-members of bands tend to get ugly (see Van Halen). NIce to see the boys seem to be above most of that. As I listen to more and more bootlegs, I am stuned by just how good Taylor was. I missed seeing him with the Stones, but have seen his solo act. Not

When I was in college, the Police were scheduled to perform in our cafeteria in 1978, with a great band named XTC. It was $6. I still have the poster. Unfortunately, they cancelled when they got stuck at the border getting into the states. 28 years later I have a chance to see them again. But I'm debating the principle of anyone charging $235 for an arena show. (Though as a bro
