You should read Chuck Leavell's tour diary to get a real insight. He makes it sound like it's he and Mick that are deciding on the setlist. I won't disparage the man since I don't personally know about it, but I would have thought that Charlie, Keith and Ronnie might have had more of a say than Chuck. But maybe that isn't the way it is done anymore in the Stones! Ch

Mathijs I fail to see after the past 3 years on this board why you still hang around. I'm not interested in making this personal and won't be responding to you, but I just wanted to say that Rough Justice is the best single since Start Me Up. Ronnie's slide is great and I'm sure he will play it the same in concert, even though you will say he just stands there and doesn'

No one could have worse stadium sound than U2 on this tour - Brussels sucked the big one from almost every point and I was there to know. And I hear GK and Manchester were not much better. The Stone don't have to worry - anything they do will be considered an upgrade to U2

I'm waiting for the Fan Asylum package for 20 Jan 06. Even at $2000, it's better than a $478 partially obstructed view! For my $2000, I'll get two nights in the hotel, transport to the show and back, a seat in the first 5 rows (probably first 2), a reception the night before with free drinks, a VIP all-you-can drink reception for 2 hours before the show at the Gardens, and someth

The Edge is a brilliant improvisational guitar player. Watching him on stage is a constant amazement - the way he uses the different foot pedals and boxes, plus his slide to get those strange unique sounds out of his guitar are a real lesson in exploring the boundaries of the instrument. But he can also play a straight ahead rock song when he plays something like Vertigo. Just a Telecaster, th

I thought at the press conference Michael Cohl said all theatre seats would be $50? That's a long way from $1500!

What happened to the re-worked Ronnie and his Fiends show from London in March? I read on Rocks Off it was going to be posted.

The problem with One Hit as an opener is that even though it has drama and would be a slam bam opening number musically, there really isn't anything to the lyrics. What's it mean really? Jagger seems to always like a number to open with that is a little higher in his songwriting hall of fame and which draws attention to him.

Ottawa is fully reserved, like nearly all Canadian shows. However, Moncton is GA except for some VIP grandstands.

Well you can't buy them on Ticketmaster, so I think RS.com is just not updated yet. It is the holiday Memorial Day Weekend in the US. It might not have much attention before Tues.

The tickets were spread out, but generally, it appears that everyone who had codes got tickets on the floor within 25 rows of the stage, or within 5 rows of the B-stage. It depends on what your priorities are - saving money and just getting any ticket, or insisting on the best and damn the price! But you will enjoy the Virtual Membership for the tour - on Licks they eventually had about 40 vide

The Ottawa promoter Ken Craig was just interviewed on CHEZ 106 and said all 40,000 tickets were sold out in 89 minutes! A new attendance record for Ottawa. Congrats Rolling Stones!

In '78 RS loved Springsteen and that was it. They constantly compared his tour to the Stones - I think they still had the US Bicentennial buzz from '76 and weren't going to give a British band better reviews. By '81, the staff had also changed and the focus changed at RS. So they made up Mick as the second coming of JC. Go figure. The boot that stays in my CD player t

Don't expect that Ottawa will not be charging more for the Gold Circle seats. Just because TM says $299 now doesn't mean it can't go up by the time they go on sale. As for the difference in pricing, I agree with a previous comment. We get paid in Cdn dollars so the exchange rate is totally immaterial.

On the Licks tour, you could buy a membership on the day of the sale for the theatres, and still get seats reserved for the Fan Club. That's what worked for the Cirkus in Stockholm for me. I doubt this will happen this time. As a minimum, I'm guessing you will need to buy a membership early and have it ready to go for when the sale starts. Pre-May 9th members will definitely have a l

I totally agree that sitting is not the way to go. But North American shows always have seats. Anyone that stands in the aisles is generally told to sit down by the ushers but in some places it is allowed (Toronto for e.g.) But you can't buy cheap seats and think you can come down to the floor. Tickets are checked at the gates into the floor and no one is ever allowed down that doesn

I'm defintely going to Ottawa, Canada. KLM has very cheap fares to Montreal. Was thinking about adding Boston beforehand and then going to Canada. Haven't made up my mind yet.

Earlier someone said that Fan Asylum wasn't worth it. While I agree it is a lot of money, you are getting a lot of service that is priced into the deal. Like at the theatres on Licks, they let people in early and they stood at the front before they let everyone else in. At the stadium in Tokyo, we had the front rail for both shows and had a back-stage tour. Plus two of our crowd ate dinne

It was already reported by StonesDoug earlier that a Stones publicist said all theatre shows would be sold in an internet lottery so everyone would have equal chance to get the tickets. I can't imagine them costing anywhere close to $1000.

Cohl's strip bar was definitely called Pandora's Box. It was quite high class, at least as far as these places can be! Fanny's was somewhere else. I can second the recommendation for Steve's Music on Rideau St. Bought a Fender American Standard Telecaster there in 1992. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Record Runner on Rideau still exists and has

The best U2 shows are a mystical experience - Bono has always delivered a message in his show. Jagger is the best rock performer there has ever been and he is only out to give you a good time - I've never heard him say anything about trees, hunger, whales or which party to vote for. (I didn't attend the environmental show in LA which I think was an exception to the rule). That said

I don't live in Ottawa any longer but in Brussels, Belgium; I'll be back in Ottawa area next year for good. It's still my favourite place in the world. Ronnie, Rod and the Faces played Ottawa's Civic Centre 3 months before Ronnie left them permanently to go on tour with the Stones. Saw him in June 75 right afterwards in Toronto. We'll have to see what they say abo

I was raised in Ottawa and still call it home. Over the years, it has seen everyone from Hendrix to the Faces to Bowie to the Stones play there (the last not for 40 years) In the last 15 years, Rod Stewart and Aerosmith put on some wonderful shows at the Central Canada Exhibition the end of Aug. I saw Ronnie's last tour on the Faces in 75 at the Civic Centre there. If Lansdowne Park is

Sorry Havo, but BV is correct. The new Wembley opens in May 2006, just a little over a year from now. It would be perfect timing for the Stones European tour. I bet they play it.
