The 'basic' colours are blue, red and yellow if I remember correctly. So, a yellow one is needed after they already had a white, a blue and red one. White, red and blue (is there an 'order'?!) are the colours of the Union Jack flag. That's why I thought that the Greatest Hits records were in blue and red?! Or does somebody know the story behind that? To add another Gre

I'm waiting on the day that somebody says to me: Your Stones are a retro band. It's like going to see Suzie Quattro. And to each of my desperately searched for counter arguments (s)he will say something like Quattro has released more new originals in the 2000s than the Stones. She has the same per centage of 48 Crash and Parrot Sketch songs like our Stones live. (Yes, Vegas setlist

Regarding the press reports one might have to consider that Sticky Fingers was not yet released. Therefore, the media persons must have been unsure about a new songs title and might have preferred to skip mentioning it instead of being embarrassed about the real name on the long player.

Quotegrzegorz67 QuoteKoen Does Europe have Academy graduates? Most of the bigger clubs have youth academies and, of course, the biggest ones have the best ones and attract the best players, creaming off the best talent at an early age. Barcelona’s is huge. There’s nothing in Europe similar to the US College System which seems to work well. For it to work, Youth Acadamies would have to be set up

Where do the colours come from? Why a Green one: because of John's and Paul's Irish origins? (I don't know about George and Ringo's confession). Wasn't there talk about an Orange Album, too? If Green means Irish does Orange then mean the colour of the Royalists?! I think Gazza could give the correct explanations about Green and Orange.

QuoteHairball Interesting Rocky, but rest assured I was not equating Crosseyed Heart with Time Out of Mind (or Love and Theft) as Dylan is no doubt in a league of his own, and something else altogether as you say. My point - and this is just my opinion - is that the music and lyrics Keith has produced in these latter years is less cringeworthy than what Mick has come up with and delivered. Whi

There is much talk on Gomper in track talk and the Dulcimer, the "weird" instrument as it is called on page 3 of the discussion. I have seen one in Reykjavik in a music shop (well, five years ago). So if they need to buy a new one and that's my suggestion - combined with a concert in the Harpa.

I am member of a facebook group in honour of Bill Graham. One issue was Elvis' doctor's recipe right bevor his death. My initial thoguhts were why is he so depressive though he is a famous person beloved by the world. The same goes for Tom Petty. No, it's not cynical. He should have learned of Elvis' example. Don't misunderstand me: To us it might seem strange that so

I tried to find it but my sister must have inherited it from our mother. Our parents had books on and by Chagall, including his wife. In at least one of it there is a quote that Chagall enjoyed the visits by and talking with Bill who lived nearby and his photography skills. Plus: Chagall knew the Rolling Stones at least by name and was ready to welcome one of them at his place.

As a teacher for music at school I used the Country Honk / Honky Tonk Women example to illustrate cover versions. The funny thing is that non-Stones-fans preferred the cpuntry Version. Everybody liked the fiddle by Byron Berline and imitated by further listening the beep of the car honk!

Gomper doesn't mean Chomper or Mars bars or whatever, it means Quimper. Quimper is a town in Brittany (France) with an ancient castle and a fairy tale lake with lillies and water roses. It is often regarded as a place of inspiration for King Arthur sagas and the like that are common folklore in many European countries. Besides the mentioned Tao book English folklore books, Sagas, Tolkien

Right, AC/DC, too. They played as an opener for the Stones at Hockenheim racing circuit. I was really curious and they put on the whole program like the Hells Bell, played a full hits 100 minutes set and so on. Quite exciting to watch. And my friend with me said something like I wonder how the Stones can answer that. Easily, I said. No matter how good this was you'll find out that AC/DC ac

Thank you, Deltics and stonehearted! I didn't think about the UK charts only. I bought the Beatles' One for my children and remembered the story that neither Love Me Do and SFF/PL were actually a No. 1... But that table of Deltics was there and I was surprised the song was that low in the first week. I expected they had a fan base then that would buy anything new to make it No. 1 imm

I presume here are some Beatles experts. I wrote this on another thread, maybe you here know the answer: the B sides Date: April 15, 2017 17:39 The Beatles starting at No. 37 with Strawberry Fields sounds intersting to me. I would have thought they usually went in right on No. 1 or at least Top 10 being No. 1 in week 2. But wasn't Strawberry Fields Forever something like their first

Regarding that money issue: Bill stated in an interview for a German magazine that Mick Taylor wanted be paid out when he left. And he sure must have received a lot of money! Bill also said (quote) "I was cleverer than Mick" and more furture conscious and only left the band as a musician and a shareholder. So, whenever f.e. Angie is played on the radio Mick J and Keith get the compo
