Right, Charlie doesn't make sloppy mistakes, true. Though he, used to way back, and more often than not, in a cool and exiting way. I went to the ABB Bergen concert. And I've listened to the Rio, Glasgow and another boot, which more or less tell the same story. As does many of the Licks ones. Non is bad though, I just mean that the Stones' sloppiness doesn't fit the perfect

Just want to add one thing about their being/playing sloppy. It's not right to compare their sloppiness of today, with their sloppiness say, during the 76, 78 or 81 tours. Back then, the whole musical set up, could make a sloppy performance sound right somehow. It fitted, and could sound cool (not always). Today the perfect keyboards, perfect back up vocals, perfect bass playing, perfect hor

Great! But godd ol' Rog should wear more flashy stuff than straight black trousers and black t-shirts. Black's cool, also on stage, but not that. Looks like the sheet metal worker he once was.

Their age is not an excuse. If the Stones today sounds worse than the Stones did, say 25 or 35 years ago, they do. Their age could be an explanation for it, but it does not change the fact that they're sounding worse!

Ah, but by far the best versions, are the ones from the 1979-tour with Wings. There have been two versions released officially, one from Glasgow, which was the B side of the UK single and the A side of the US single in 1980, as well as the superb soundboard bootleg Wings Last Flight (full show). The other one can be found on the Concerts For Campucha double LP, and is a recording with Wings from

There's no doubdt in my mind that he sang much much better rock style singing in the seventies- and eighties tours than the straight and too controlled singing from the Voodoo Lounge tours until today.

I have never heard of any overdubs regarding the rooftop concerts. You can clearly tell that studio mics isn't used as well. John, end especially Paul, used to be great live singers. However, I have read that alot of the Shea concert was overdubbed or taken from the Hollywood Bowl concert that same year, 1965.

Some Girls is a cool album by the naturally cool and eager Stones. VL sounds forced, desperatly rocking. trying to be the Stones of old. No wonder they hardly played anything els

It's a fair enough question to ask, isn't it? I don't get all the citisism this thread gets. It's different, Stones related and a laugh. As Camper88 writes, politics are international, and particularly US politics at that, I'd like to add. I am sure Mick sympathises with one or the other. It's about sympathising, not voting for or beeing a member of, since he's

I so much disagree with all of these. They're great examples of the opposite. Sho's So Cold Seattle 1981. possibly better than studio, anyway the best live

Hand Of Fate, way better studio than live. No doubt! Probably the best example I can think of, not counting post 1993.

I agree with SAR and HTW above, but I think Hot Stuff was better live; in 1976 only, that is. It's been too flat since 1994, like so much else. As a third song I'd sort of add all of Keith's songs

Any version (that I've heard) from the 1972 tour beats everything else before or since, including the Sticky Fingers version. Since 1990 it's been sung to flat, of course.

FTS is the highlight on BtB along with OOC and SOM, and worked great on stage. Likes it better when Mick says "Flip the swich" than that tosser on the record.

Flip the Switch is fantastic. Saint Of Me and especially Out Of Control are great too. They're actually some of the very very few songs that sounds better on latter day live recordings than on the studio record; possibly the only ones. ABSMB is rubbush to my ears. Keith's songs are fair, aspecially the reggae one, as is Already Over Me. The rest is quite forgetteble IMO.

Moon is up is my least favourite track on VL, along with Suck On The Jugular. No melody, no drive just odd sounding (which good be good, ie Moonlight Mile), different and not good. What's great about it?

The penis was silly but funny. The dog and cage were just silly. The bucket of water throwing was great. Bring that back!
