I like it. Regardless of how it compares to his earlier work, it's wistful and beautiful and I'm glad to have it.

Memory fades, and we don't have an audience tape to compare, but I'd say there are overdubs on Under My Thumb, considerable edits on Sway and She's So Cold, both overdubs and edits on Get Off of My Cloud and a number of of vocal overdubs. Thanks, DP. I don't think we're too far apart on this one. I certainly didn't intend my comment as a criticism, and "carrying the band" was not a good phrase-- there is not an agreed, universal understanding of what that means.

Keith played the role he needed to play to make the show work. He doesn't carry the band on most songs anymore, but he stopped posing and gave us some meaty and thoughtful sounds, and from time to time he raised the energy in the room kind of like he used to. Kudos to Ronnie and Mick, but it all works together. Without Keith doing his thing, they could not have shined.

Very good job for sure. Much improved and much more focused on singing than recent years, I think. I don't care for the running around. Mick is quite compelling even when he stays within 10 feet of the mic stand.

Hi Seitan -- thanks for the link. The Onion is generally considered a humor magazine, so I kind of doubt this interview actually occurred.

QuoteErik_Snow could RS write something like The Long And Winding Road? Nope! I'm sure glad they didn't! But, if you want me to agree the Beatles had the upper hand on melody....ok, yeah, maybe.

QuoteStonesTod Quotetexas fan I haven't posted here in months, but this one got me, mate. I assume you mean studio records, and I might give you that, but only through '67. The live stuff, we shouldn't even discuss. Also, I'm going to report you to Tod. As you know, he has strict rules about what's an opinion and what's a fact. i appreciate the business.

Quotestonesdan60 QuoteRolling Hansie Quotestonesdan60 I apologize to everyone for getting into this dispute publicly. Good enough for me Dan. For the rest just read my post for Erik, except for the part that we met in person. I didn't have that pleasure with you ... yet ... maybe on the next tour This is a problem I'm trying to learn to deal with. I've learned that in general

Thanks, His Majesty. I'm not against discussion about the merits of the music -- I think that's part of why we're here. Still, sometimes we forget the big picture -- we have had a lot to appreciate, and these guys won't be around forever.

The official release is better, in my opinion. The volumes, particularly of the guitars, seem better balanced, and I can hear things that were hard to pick up on the bootlegs. This makes the guitar interplay easier to hear and enjoy. Also, the guitars sound like the Rolling Stones' guitars. This is the first time -- including the Hampton boots and Still Life -- that anyone has cap

Sorry, Mary, but sssoul and Erik offer a lot of interesting thoughts and analysis about the MUSIC, and you could learn an awful lot from them. I've read their posts longer than you, I think, and I can assure you that neither of them is anti-Mick, so just relax and let them like what they like. By the way, I like it when you talk about the music, too, even when we disagree.

Quoteseitan Quoteproudmary I think this PR move by Richards has caused more objection from Mick than an interview with Times about his genitals. And you know this from where ? Any links ? She's just making sure poor Keith sells a few more copies of Life.

Glad you're still on duty, Tod...but I trust my ears, and it's hard to imagine that I'm the only one that has had this experience. If no one weights in soon, though, I'll start to question myself, or at least my ears, or something....

Based on Handsome Girls and a couple of other great versions of the Fort Worth show, I've always thought it was one of the best recorded shows available. So, I was anxious to hear the mix on the new official release. I saw the movie at the theater. In the theater I went to, Ronnie's guitar was noticeably lower in volume than Keith's. Well, we've all heard that before
