QuoteSend It To me How do ya'll feel about it? I just (finally) got Spotify, hooked it up to my stereo, looked at my CD and LP collection and felt slightly depressed. My excuse for CD's up till now was they had better sound quality and you could lose your iTunes if your computer melted, but can't tell any difference on sound really and on a subscription doesn't matter if you

I am a newcomer into the world of Stones. I only discovered them as late as 1983. Hey were already 21 years into the career. Before that I was into a bit of rockabilly like Matchbox and Cavan and before that the UK Glamrock like Slade, Mud, Uriah Heep and a bit heavier stuff like Deep Purple and Sabbath. Bought Vol4 as brand new, not CD but vinyl for you youngsters. I had a crush on a girl in

Yes, I know TT. That is the current price level for a vg or better mono copy, 300-600 €, but I still feel that the availability is not justifying the high prices sellers ask for them.

Pink Floyd The Wall LP Many years ago I tried to build a vinyl collection of not only Rolling Stones but also of other great and important bands and their music. LP's by Zepp, CCR, Who, even Beatles and many more. I even got a mint condition first pressing of Pink Floyds The Wall. I tried to listen through the whole album several times but did not succeed. I managed to get to the thi

About the sleeve on 12 x 5 advance / test sleeve versions. I went into my James Last and assorted section of my record collection to look at my old non-stones Decca's and this is what I found. Three sleeves made in England with the same cut as 12x5. None of them has the manufacturer mentioned. But this would prove that Decca was using the same sleeve manufacturer as EMI in the 50's a

About the Mono LIB I have three copies, one non-boxed and two boxed with the following matrix numbers -1A / -2A which has a boxed label -2A / -1A which has a boxed label -2A / -2A which has a non-boxed label And confirmed by Andrew, -1A / -1A is also existing. So we have four combinations confirmed. All of these matrix numbers can be found with either non-boxed or boxed labels. They were u

Quote1963luca0 Well, these sleeves are very similar to the ones made in OZ and NZ, actually. Still, it's very hard to say they were made downunder. In those countries, records were distributed by DECCA, not LONDON. In my opinion, we have to look amid the countries managed by LONDON. Central/ South America? Canada? Bye, A scenario could be that Decca UK sent LP's in inner bags to D

Quote1963luca0 Well, if look at the lower right corner of the inside of the cover, you find a DECCA boxed logo. It's black and white. The 1970 re-issue is the only one that presents a black/azure logo, instead. Luca This is new for me as well. I just had a look on my 15 UK pressed copies of Big Hits and all of them has the black and white logo......

I recently added this mono version to my collection. A question about these test sleeves for the US 12x5 LP. The vinyl is pressed by Decca in UK but the sleeve has no indication what so ever on where they may have been printed. The paper quality and design of the flips on the back side is not even close to sleeves made in UK. But they look very much as the sleeves made in Australia in the 60&

Quote1963luca0 One more thing that usually passes unoticed: have you ever realised that the very early copies of the British Satanic have labels that Decca used for records of their catalogne of classical music? By Luca Correct Luca. The very first stereo label used for Satanic was a mistake from the label department at Decca. They used a design that was intended for high quality music only,

Quote1963luca0 Back to Jan: Have you checked the musical content of the 45RPM B-side, by chance? I would not be surprised it's a shortened version: are we sure that DECCA Records could put a 5minute+ long song on a single at the time? After all, if they needed a 33RPM side for 'Everybody Needs Somebody To Love' there must have been a reason why. On top of that, let's not fo

Quote1963luca0 Dear Jan, thanks for the great addition for the one I consider the least-known of the British singles. No, I don't have a copy in my collection. I never had the chance to buy one, but I'd love to get, sooner or later. On top of that, thanks for posting your finding here. This book has awakened a lot of Collectors who used to believe that British singles are a little bi

So sad. One of the greatest rock bands of all time. One of the very first LP's I got in the early 70's was Piledriver. I was about 11-12 at the time.I still have the very same LP and it spinns on my turntable many times every year. For example just now.... We were several guys in the same age and all of us had very long hear. We used to play Piledriver / Quo / Hello albums on high volu

Quotefrankotero I believe if they only announced this to the fan base and we didn't go public, there is a chance we'd all get in. Keep the tourist out. There's a way to do anything if you want it. There are more than one million fans reading this page alone, so there may be a bit of a hustle to get tickets.

QuoteIrix Quotejp.M ..for Abkco..."12x5"was not issued in UK... And ABKCO as well as say that '12x5' was released on October 24, 1964 - while and say it was released on October 17, 1964 .... This is really amazing. How difficult can it be! A Rolling Stones LP with the name 12 x 5 was never issued in UK. Well, a reissue came in the 90's. Even ABCKO page says: &

Quotefrankotero Jan Richards, I understand your method of calculation but maybe some of those U.S. copies are being re-sold or re-listed? And maybe not all of the 200 Decca copies made it into circulation? Besides yourself I don't know anyone else that has one and never saw it for sale at a fair or eBay. Maybe I wasn't looking at the time. One thing is sure, Decca is rarer. Congrats on
