Quotebatonrouge75 I met Ted Newman Jones 20 years ago when he was operating a guitar business in Austin, TX. Ted told me that he purchased all of the guitars used by Keith Richards and Mick Taylor during their 1972 US tour from Gruhn guitars in Nashville, TN. in June 1971. Ah, OK. Thanks for the confirmation. I have been to Gruhn's in Nashville a few times. Never knew he had a shop in Mem

I received mine two days ago and have gone through sections and will look at in greater detail this weekend. Glad you are not bothered by the errors but the one Mathijs pointed regarding the Les Paul is fairly glaring. I might see more as I go through it but for all that I'm very excited to have it. It's been a long time coming...

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the orignal film's release in 1954. The version most have seen is the edited version that chopped a bit and tacked on scenes with Raymond Burr. This version was released in the US in 1956 and was a very different film than the orginal, which had much more to do with social commentary...

The question was asked of Keith what he thought of Ronnie Wood and Mick Taylor playing together during their recent gigs. Keith waxed enthusiastically about that and having Mick play in Stones. I would ask Keith though, when are you going to aask Mick back into the band?

I've been to Japan 8 times in the last 13 years and all you need is a valid passport if coming from the US. Wish I could make the Japan shows as it would be cool to see the Stones there. As it turns out, I will be In Japan 3 weeks afterthe shows. Ah well...

Gospel music is not the first source I would cite as an influence upon rock and roll. Nor, a second or third. Nonetheless, quite a fun link so thanks for sharing!

QuoteMidnightRambler1990 I'm dying to know how he gets his tremolo sound on his cover of "How Soon Is Now" on his recent tours. I want it, and that Jag, too! I wondered that as well. The original recording was done by synching up two Fender amps with the tremolo effect full on. Apparently it was a rather painstaking process as the amps would go out of sync every 10 seconds or so. I

The Johnny Marr signature Jaguar is the shit, man! I played one last year and it played like a dream. As to Marr himself, I saw him perform twice last year and he put a great high energy show. His now songs are great and the Smiths tunes he played brought the house down. Woof!

Ah Shinjuku. I remember visiting Cross Records there in 2005. Stones heaven that was. Glad to see there are still more than a few outlets for cool Stones stuff.

Semi-comprehensible is right. The translation from Japanese to English was not very good and did not convey the nuances of the Japanese at all well. But, if it got jazzbass and anyone else who wanted a ticket sorted all's well...

Quotejazzbass Does anyone know how to switch the language on the Stones Tokyo ticket page to English? It is just impossible for me to navigate in Japanese. Rolling Stones - Tokyo 2/26/2014 I looked and unfortunately I did not see a way to switch between Japanese and English as the site is intended for the Japanese audience...

Quotesteady What can a poor boy do who is ignorant of Japanese? Any advice is highly appreciated. Wow, I'm not sure where to begin but I'll try. I would recommend flying into Haneda airport, which is close to the heart of the city instead of Narita, which is a few hours to the north of Tokyo. The public transport system is one of the best in the world so getting about is efficient and

"they are brutally unsentimental". Interesting view point considering most of their live shows consist of songs recorded 30 or more years ago. To me at least they persist because there is still an audience for what the do, at least from a live perspective...

Interesting selection of songs you chose to add to volume 2. Some obvious, some not so, but if this anything like volume 1 then I'm sure you mde a good job of it. "Mr Censor Man" possibly represents Mick's longest recorded guitar solo (with "Sway" on "Too Hot for Snakes" as another possible contender.) I also like that you included "I Can't Quit Y

The rhythm figure Keith plays from the 2:20 to 2:25 marks on the version from "Get Yer Ya Yas Out" is one of my all time favorite Keith moments. Pure Keith. Sounds easy, but getting the same groove he does there is difficult...
