I think that the interpretation is not so straightforward. It is true that the song portrays the devil as having a hand in the crucifixion of Christ, the 1917 Russian revolution, and Nazi attempts to conquer Europe. These are all things that conservatives consider inherently evil - as I think most people would. But to think this is a conservative song is to engage in what I think is too shallow a

First Rolling Stones song I ever got into. And got to hear it live at the first show I ever attended (Oslo 1998).

I could be wrong on this, but my sense is that the indoor venues in the US are generally bigger than those generally found in Europe. My sense is that, for instance, the largest indoor venue in Italy is the Mazda Palace in Milano, which holds about 9,000 people. In Stockholm, the Globen holds 14,000. Compare that with the TD Banknorth Garden here in Boston - a midsize venue - which seats around 1

The fact that July 8 is the starting date doesn't mean that the rest of the shows are going to go forward as planned. In fact, I would expect that when they do finally release a new schedule, more than the original 15 shows will have been moved around, cancelled, or postponed.

Sadly, I was on the receiving end of all the postponements/cancellations. The 1998 show was to be my first; I was already halfway to Milano when I got the news about Mick's throat. Oh well, if I get to see as many shows this summer as I did in 1998 I'll be happy nonetheless.

I am not even sure why we still have any reason to have a news section here, given that the "news" just reproduces things that are widely reported and those in the know keep on being so mysterious. If you know something and want to share it do so; if you know and don't want to say, then don't say anything at all; if you are speculating like the rest of us, please lose the atti

Hey guys, how about we start flooding their email server with a standard message similar to the one that dunhill sent above? Maybe that will put some fire under their ass if we get some kind of critical mass. We may be too scattered around to stage a sit-in or dump a load of maneur in front of their offices, but we can sure make their lives difficult for a while. I have heard that these tactics h

The one on the Unreleased Decca Live Album is my favorite. Also good are the versions on the 1973 shows in Perth and Sydney.

My first approach was in 1997. A friend of mine had given me a tape of Sticky Fingers that I could take on my summer trip to Iceland. I remember spending 2 days sitting on the deck of the boat taking me from Denmark to Iceland with a bottle of Bailey's in hand listening to Dead Flowers over and over again. I eventually got into the whole album. When I got back home, I bought my first Stones

Well, if I were recovering from brain surgery I'd rather be home than in some hotel or rented apartment a world away. I figured that if he's not home it's probably because he is not fit to travel. And that can't possibly be good news.

I agree. I go back and forth on what the delay means. Most likely they are still figuring things out; it could be that they are still holding out some hope that the dates that will end up being pushed back are only two or three. The fact that Keith is still in New Zealand (if he's really still there), however, is certainly not very encouraging.

Earlier today, somebody else posted something to the same effect. Look under the thread "Divento." I have been looking all afternoon for some corroboration on all sorts of English, Spanish, and even Italian news sources, but came up with nothing. The Divento website itself still says that the concert is postponed and that ticket holders will be notified via email when they have a new da

I looked up the Divento website, which still says: This concert has been postponed. Anyone who has already bought tickets from DIVENTO will receive an email as soon as the new date is confirmed. May this be the email they are talking about?
