Imagine this with Mick Jagger on vocals! Jagger is still great at singing those tunes - listen to Long black veil with the Chieftains!

Time waits for no one version 2 is great. However, you notice that no English native speaker is singing but if Mick recorded it with a great singer it would surely becom his classic. I always fancied the brilliant guitar solo on the original studio track from 1975 but I am surprised how good the acoustic version sounds. Thanks for uploading!

Bill Wyman's book is based on his extensive diaries. But if Mick Taylor did not write down much during his years with the Stones I doubt his recollections will be interesting after 30 years for the general audience. By the way I found Bill's book great and I do not understand why many on this board despise it. Every memory book is the personal view of the author and I do not have to

You read it in Bill's book A Stone Alone. He describes it the way you see it on the picture (which is great, thanks for posting!) that he fretted and Keit bowed.

Could anyone please post this song in good quality from the Marquee Club 1971 (or another good live version?)? Thank you.

Thanks for the information. OK, so I chose the wrong forum but could someone post it in the right one? Thank you.

Could anyone please post this song in good quality from the Marquee Club 1971? I think it was only played once - is that right? Thank you.

The bootleg of the first show is entitled WILLKOMMEN IN MUNCHEN but I never had an opportunity to listen to it. And still the question about the video remains unanswered...

If you listen to the recordings from the first concert of the tour in Vancouver it is also a shame that they played Torn and frayed and Ventilator blues just once. These were great songs in their live version, even if they would have included only one of them at each concert. Compared with the 1972 US tour the set lists of recent tours have a widevariety of songs.

Midnight rambler and You can't always get what you want Brussels 17 Oct 1973! The entire recording is fantastic! I always get excited when I listen to Love in vain on high-quality recording from anywhere. But I agree that he rarely had bad moments. His guitar playing with the Stones is electrifying. Listened recently to the Ventilator blues live recording from 1972 for the first time and

Munich Olympiastadion 1982 (first concert) which I attended was also great although there were only minor changes in the setlist during the entire tour. The second Munich concert seems to have been disturbed by rain if I remember right what friends told me - I wasn't there. Back in 1982 the Stones were top of the list - remember, they had released Start me up as a massive hit - so nobody ca

The main difference between the U.S. and European audiences is that in USA you only listen to the songs you want to hear and take your 'piss break' if there's a song you do not like. In Europe you go to see an entire concert and except for the emergency case no one would leaveĀ“during the concert. If you do not like a song you hope that the next one will be better. Leaving a concer

Leeds 1971 in brilliant quality because I absolutely love that bluesy rendition of Midnight rambler (it's the counterpart to that rocking 1973 performance) Brussels 1973 or rather Europe 1973 with all the live tracks played, something like the Definitive Edition. I do not doubt that greatest live recording of all time would still sell

Hey, come on, I saw BB King two years ago for the first time when he was 79 and he was just brilliant, in fact one of the best concerts I've ever attended! Not just because he's an incredible guitar player (while his voice has suffered by age) but because he had a crack band and he's a great entertainer. Even if he plays the same songs every night and the jokes are basically the sa

It's a shame they did not include Honest I do and No expectations on that album (or a maxi single). While I do not want to miss the originals I like those versions very much. They would have indeed qualified for the Rarities album.

Like with any of us his financial situation depends on his lifestyle. Obviously he only gets royalties nowadays for the song 'Ventilator blues' as co-arranger. I do not think that he gets any money from Stones records sold. Of course the Stones have no financial responsibility for him apart from contractual obligations. Why should they? On the other hand they are not as harsh to him

In August 1980 a brief snippet of the 1968 NME Pollwinners Concert was shown on German TV ZDF during the Quiz show DER GROSSE PREIS. Another missing item is the complete concert in Empire Wembley Pool, London, on 8 September 1973 which is known to have been filmed completely by the BBC. Obviously nobody knows if that tape still exists... On 19 June 1976 I saw someone recording the concert a

I think that the BIRGHT LIGHTS BIG CITY bootleg was the first one with studio recordings: five tracks IBC 1962, some Chess material, and three tracks from the 1972 Montreux rehearsals for the US tour 1972. In Clinton Heylin's book the story is told how the bootlegger got hold of the tape where he made the record from. Of course, there have been many re-issues. Unfortunately, the Stones th

The annoying point in this thread are the personal offences. If someone citizises Ron Wood for his guitar playing he has every right to do so, or is this a board for hard-core-fanatics only who keep praising the Stones for everything? It is unfair to tell someone who plays the guitar that he should go and play with the Stones. After all you have to pay excessive prices for your ticket which me

Exhpart, I agree that Get Yer Ya Ya's Out is an excellent 'live' album but apart from four songs it's not really an in-concert recording. The intro is one of the great things about this album (in fact, it is one of the classic recordings of rock music) but it only exists through the remix. What's your problem about it? The Stones never intended to release an unaltered

I don't like their recent version of The last time, and 19th nervous breakdown was lame too on the pomotion concert in Toronto. I'd go for Lady Jane, Mother's little helper, or Ride on baby (an overlooked gem). I don't want to ask for Down home girl which in my opinion is a great blues number.

Well without any doubt this was an overdub. All Stones live albums are heavily overdubbed. For instance, on Get Yer Ya Ya's Out! they dubbed the words 'Watch it' from the Rock'n'Roll Circus live recording over the opening riff of Jumpin' jack flash. Therefore the audience recording bootlegs are essential to get an unaltered impression of a Stones concert.

What do you expect from a board where some people write: If you critzise the Stones why are you here. I am a big Stones fan but I listen to lots of other music. There are songs/records which I do not like very much. But at least I'm no fanatic at all. I also consider the Taylor years as a highlight for the Stones, and no live recording impressed me more over two decades than the London/Brus
