I'm a bit emotional right now, but I have changed my feelings on this tour after the terrible news of Charlie's passing. Message to the surviving members: Play damn it, PLAY, play as much as possible, go play every city you can. Play every song you know

What are we doing? The Stones are touring without Charlie? Whaaaa? If he is capable of returning at some point, then they should postpone. If he can't come back then, what are we doing touring without Charlie Watts and calling it the Rolling Stones? Sorry I'm just in a little shock here. Trying to digest.

I prefer the way they played it from 69 to 73, although in the fall of 73 perhaps its a little to fast. The big difference may be the way Mick and keith were singing the chorus as "hooooonnnnkkkyyyy tonk woman" covering the timing of the chorus as opposed to 75, 76, 78, 81, 82 versions where they sing "honky tonk, honky tonk, woman" as the chorus. Make sense? The 69 to 73

I prefer the 72/73 versions. I like the arrangement. The taylor solo after the sax solo gets me everytime. Sometimes his guitar comes in like sledge hammer.

Its definitely not my favorite Stones era, but the 1981/1982 core setlist is one of my favorite setlists. Wasn't the 1981 tour promoted somewhat as a 20th anniversary? if so, that did a pretty good job of making it a diverse career spanning setlist and at the same time keeping it fresh with last 3 albums. Not doing the darker type songs (Gimme Shelter, Midnight Rambler) seems to fit it w

QuoteGasLightStreet In regard to the subject, I dunno. Based on what I've heard of both tours I'm more partial to 1981 but the LEEDS show sounds excellent. I might be more partial to 1981 because a majority of live material I've heard is from that tour. Agreed. I think many of us are biased to the 81 tour because we are so familiar with it. The soundboards, the video/film, etc

Do I dare say, the Stones sounded better in 1982 than 1981? I've listened to only a few 1982 shows, Today was Naples, Shattered in Europe bootleg, and they sounded great. I'm embarrassed to say that I did not realize Bobby Keys was on this tour. I actually listened to the 9 minute version of Miss You from Naples and it was really good, as I usually skip the song. Did Bobby play all

I would imagine its a relaxed sort of thing where either mick or keith or both come in with a song and say to Charlie it goes like this "boom bam boom" etc and he picks it right up. Or they just jam a riff and Charlie just plays whatever the groove is. I'm sure there are also times where either mick or keith or the producer chimes in and says try it like this or whatever.

Just bought a bootleg from local record shop, no label, no identification of which show it is. In plain white sleeve. During the intros, Mick introduces taylor by saying "at 142 pounds Mick taylor", also before rip this joint mick asks "where's the mirror back to the mirror" anyone? HELIOOBOS?
