Except for the Glass Spider show (which I walked out on) I hadn't seen Frampton since '76. He brought the guitar circus to my town a couple months ago and it was fabulous. I'd forgotten what a brilliant guitarist he was and his band was superb. Robert Cray (zzz) opened and the special guest was Steve Cropper. He even explained that he was playing the same black Gibson as the one he

I have a friend who saw them in Ann Arbor. It was the first show after Ottawa which had resulted in a Stones appearance. The audience kept screaming for Jagger leading an exasperated Ronnie Wood to, at one point, exclaim, What do I hafta do? Bleed for ya? HE AIN'T HERE!"

Quoteswiss So true - well put. I like what's on wikipedia about the MC5: " 'Crystallizing the counterculture movement at its most volatile and threatening,' according to Allmusic critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine, the MC5's far left political ties and anti-establishment lyrics and music positioned them as emerging innovators of the punk movement in the United States. Their

Quoteseitan QuoteR Quoteseitan QuoteR I know a recognized figure from the original MC5 scene who told me, "Wayne Kramer could f-ck up a free lunch." and this gossip means what ? That his waxing ecstatic over DEATH should be taken with a grain of salt. Why ? Because, he said so.

My first two Stones shows ('75 and '78) were in the original version of that very stadium. Cool. I'm sure it's a tie-in with the R&R Hall of Fame exhibit which costs $25 a head.

I've been a music-geek living within 150 miles of Detroit all of my life. I'd never heard of DEATH until recently. I saw them perform this past June. They were competent but not terribly remarkable.

I loved the gorilla from the jump and understood it was a marketing tool directed at younger audiences, theoretically to bring them into the Stones world with a hip, "that is so random" image. Gregory was created to be down with the kids and perhaps SELL THEM a greatest hits collection. Any music marketer with a lick of sense knows WE all have these songs many times over. At the same ti

"Carlos says he will reunite the Santana band from the early 70's in 2014 for a tour and new material." Why not? He's beaten every other gimmick into the dirt. The first three Santana albums were Masterpieces. How are they going to live up to them 40+ years later?

I saw his Rock And R&R Revue, circa 1990. It was fabulous. It was said at the time Dave had tinitus so bad he couldn't do a whole show hence the walk-ons (though he did perform with most of them). He hasn't done a proper tour since, that I know of and only one album of what sounded like demos.

I LOVED IT. The Bo Diddley beat is about as primal as they come and Jagger either popping up from the floor or merely walking out and taking a deep bow was profoundly dramatic. NFA basically served as an intro. "Tumbling Dice, which followed, was really the first song in the show.

Actually, I already thanked the box office manager at the UC profusely but I'm still on a buzz from last Friday's show so thought I'd share my story... When the Chicago tickets went on sale I was unaware the $85 tix required a separate link so I got shut out there. I tried, desperately, to get four $250 seats for my family and me because that's all I was willing to afford.

A friend tweeted me a bit before showtime. He told my family and me to enjoy ourselves and that he hoped they'd play "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'." Shortly thereafter a stagehand brought out a set of conga drums, gave them a quick test pat and then covered them with a blank blanket near Bernard's position. I was pretty sure our wish would be fulfilled...and it was : -

QuoteStoneage I wonder if the blues is the black man's music anymore though. They seem to have moved on. Maybe hip-hop is the black man's blues today? The blues is a museal art form now. Mainly aimed at the white post midlife middle class. Who probably wouldn't recognize a cotton farm if they saw one. I went to highschool with an enormous number of black kids in the newly deseg

The arena show / regional residency template is what they'll go out on. There'll be no more stadium tours just like there already isn't now. We might see some more of the same in the Fall, perhaps back in NYC and maybe in the European mainland. This WILL be the last time because after charging these prices, they can't go back to well anymore.

QuoteSWAYZ QuoteR AS PREDICTED.... ... $450 seats for May 31 in Chicago have morphed into $250 overnight! I bought three this morning at center court, 2nd row of the third tier. These are far and away better than the single seat I struggled to get a few weeks ago. The 3rd tier(300 level) for Chicago was always $175-$250. There were no $450's up there. Only $450's for Chicago were t

Quoteflacnvinyl I will be very curious to see what happens with these shows. If ticket sales are as terrible as they appear, something major will have to happen. Putting another 1000 tickets out will help, but I am genuinely curious how many seats are actually available. If they have another 6000 to sell, who knows... The $600 seats END at center court. Everything on the floor and lower bowl
