Mott the Hoople were absolutely outstanding last night in Glasgow. I have been to hundreds of gigs over the last 30 odd years, and last night was a special one. I don't know what planet that reviewer was on. If you have tix for the remaining shows, you are in for a real treat. Ian Hunter is just about the coolest rock star on the planet. 74!!! unbelievable. watching him close up from in fron

I saw Status Quo on their farewell "end of the road" tour in 85 I think. And then saw the original band play a storming show in Glasgow recently. it's never over till the fat lady sings

QuoteDandelionPowderman I'm considering going to England. I have to see this... BTW, it's not the original lineup, but more like the classic lineup. Parfitt wasn't there from the beginning, and they had Roy Lynes on keyboard. oh come on, it's the only Quo line up that mattered. That's like saying Charlie's not an original Stone.

saw them In Glasgow! and they are unbelievable. If you are a fan, do not miss this. total barnstorming rock. No backing vocalists, tapes, hidden musicians, auto tune or any other bullshit. And the crowd was totally up for it. One of the gigs of my life - and I've been to a few.

QuoteGazza 5 songs off the new album (early reports had an 18-song set which included 'Duquesne Whistle', making it six new songs but seemingly not) Only 4 songs from the 60s, 2 from one 1970's album ,one from 1989 and everything else from 2000 onwards. Nothing from either Highway 61 Revisited or Blonde On Blonde. That takes some balls. Great setlist, even if 'Sum

Dead Ringer is the one. First rock album I ever bought. Read em and weep! Saw him live on the Bad Attitude tour 85. he was great, but I never felt the desire to see him again. He doesn't attract that tribal fan base that The Stones or ACDC do. no ones ever gonna run into a burning house to rescue him. Which is probably just as well, cause he would be hard to shift. Ok that's a cheap ga

I always thought RnR over had poor sound. The production on Love Gun was a step up - but maybe the songwriting was too. I'm a huge Kiss fan, but have a blind spot with RnR over. love the cover tho. My favourite is still probably Dressed to kill. "you're good looking and you're looking like you should be good". Classic Kiss with the rat-a-tat swinging Cat on the drums

OK fair play? I guess I'm just jealous that you got to see the original Coop band and dispirited that you didn't enjoy it. best support bands I have seen - Black Crowes (Dogs d'amour 1989?), and Cheap trick (Mötley Crüe 1985)

Quote24FPS I could not escape Alice Cooper as a warm up act in the early 70s. That whole phoney baloney Halloween act bored me, as did his music. (Except for the classic 'Eighteen'.)I was a little surprised when he made it big, but then again I didn't think the Spice Girls would go over in America. Wait a minute...are you the guy that always posts this story about seeing Cooper a

QuoteShott Just because Robbie Robertson says something great about himself does not make it true, just ask Levon or his other former Band mates. Yep, he is still full of self-mythologising crap. I am a huge fan of The Band, and acknowledge his talent. But everything he says seems to elevate his status at the expense of others. He truly has no modesty.

Quotewhitem8 Tom Waits should produce The Rolling Stones. It would really force them to do both things that cause so much friction between Mick and Keith: pay homage to your roots and push it into new visions. Waits has a keen ear for the strange and decadent, and the beauty of decay. He also writes. He writes lyrics that tell stories with amazing melodies. Mick would need to up his game, and st

Wouldn't call Ballbreaker TERRIBLE. I think the only DC album with no real merit is Blow up your video. I actually like the production on Ballbreaker, and it has a few classics - title track, Hard as a rock, Hail ceaser, the Furor. The problem is that the rest of the songs suck. Love bomb must be the worst thing they ever did. Always loved the artwork plus the fact Rudd was back in the band,

Quotetreaclefingers It woulda been difficult being in a band where the principals didn't let you contribute to the writing or even direction of the band. His solo career didn't actually 'flourish' either. I wonder if there was some other way during those times that he may have found to release his pent up anxiety and energy? 3,000 Groupies musta helped with the pent

everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but for me his voice was a thing of immense beauty. When I hear how wounded and vulnerable he sounded on A song for you, I still get the shivers. but he could tear it up with the best of them too. his solo albums are among the greatest music ever recorded in my opinion.

An incredible body of work, but don't forget to check out the late return of three fifths of the Band - Particularly Jericho and Jubilation. These are amazing albums. Atlantic City, Too soon Gone, High Cotton, Book faded brown, If I should fail, Jericho. These are wonderful songs.

what's that Keith clip where he is being interviewed by a giggly Japanese girl, and he looks totally hammered? Anyway, she asks him "what's the most interesting question you've been asked in an interview?". Keith shoots back "that one right there" or something like that. Maybe I imagined it all
