Quotekeefriff99 Just in case this gets swallowed by the other thread: Lemmy rarely had complimentary things to say about the Stones...he was a Beatles fanatic through and through and always ranked the Stones a notch below them. Not that he DISLIKED the Stones, but he was never effusive in his praise of them and always rather tepid. Being a big fan of both the Stones and Motorhead, I was alw

First gig I ever saw, Motörhead at Glasgow Apollo in June 83, and we met them after and got autographs. This has shaken me to the core. So sad. legend.

The Black Rider is his most extreme album. A weird mash up of Russian / German dark ages sounding instrumentation, and Waits at his rawest vocally. it is a genuinely scary record, only more palpably felt by the presence of William Burroughs. my two year old has just come into the room as this is playing , and promptly left saying " Daddy, I don't like this song". Time to shut it of

Quoterbk I can't go to a show for the hits over and over again and Neil's output in the last decade has been abominable at best. Glad you enjoyed it though. When he's been bad, he's been bloody awful this past decade (fork in the road etc). But I really liked the non orchestral Storytone, and thought Physchedelic pill was a masterpiece. Before that Chrome Dreams II had its

That horrible middle section of Rocks Off on Live Licks. Quite clearly no one had bothered to listen to it (or they didn't care), but they expected us to buy it. unforgivable. I can't play the album because of that song.

I actually came to accept Mal being gone, because they handled it so well, and it was his wish that they should go out one last time on tour. Plus Stevie Young is family, and the perfect guy for the job. I am gutted that Rudd is now out. I've been a fan for 35 years, but it's over....I'm out

How many people has he inspired? it's probably in the millions. But not because of his guitar playing. How many people in the world first strummed a guitar because of blowing in the wind? Certainly more than thos

OK IKE Zimmerman? Never heard of him. I thought you meant Bob Anyway, Dylan is most influential for me as for favourites: Angus Young Joe perry Ted Nugent Ace. Frehley Ritchie Blackmore Jimmy Page Oh, and Tony Iommi - who was pretty influential

He has been harassed by the NZ cops who are clearly out to get him. Much like Keith in the 70s. Having arrested him on a false premise and dragging him in front of a judge on a totally fabricated lie ,I would expect the drug charges to be dropped too. I'm no lawyer, but if you invade someone's property on a bogus claim and humiliate him in this way, I would imagine the consequential dru

A year ago I would have said Kate Bush. Thank God I got to one of the shows, which was amazing. I've seen most artists I care about, including Queen (with Freddie), Tom Waits, Stones, neil Young, AC/DC, McCartney, Who, Brian Wilson etc. My Bucket list now: ZZ top van Halen (with DLR) Robbie Robertson / Garth Hudson Genesis - with Gabriel and Hackett . This is probably my ultim

He has been admitted to a care home that deals with this illness. I'm afraid it's the truth. The band will never formally confirm it, so if you want to remain in denial, feel free. Mal was the heartbeat of the band. he would be there if it were possible. I can't imagine how awful this is for Angus. But he's a tough guy, and the fans will be there. Fingers crossed for the new a

Can I claim AC/DC? I remember reading an interview Keith gave to a Scottish paper a few years back, and it was headed "Rolling stones are a Scottish band". I think it was in the Sunday mail. Keef was clearly playing to the papers limited readership. Anyway, his assertion for Stones Scottishness was down to Stu. makes you wonder what he says to provincial newspapers when he is in Ugand

she saw the humour in EVERYTHING. And she was criticized at times for it, but she poked fun at herself too, so to me that makes it alright. The joke I always remember was "never date a man who splashes in the toilet. If he can miss a hole that big....."

QuoteSilver Dagger Been told that a few standing tickets - maybe 50 or so - get sold on the night. Might be wporth getting down there at 5pm and queuing. Sure you'll get in. There were folks up in the circle standing at the end of the aisles at the show last Saturday. Perhaps these were sold on the night. Definately worth a try.

Her show on Saturday was absolutely astonishing. I actually feel a weird sadness that it is over. she was spellbinding. her voice was a revelation, and the visuals were the fairy dust over the whole thing. it had the kind of magic I remember from seeing a Peter Pan stage show as a young child. we shall never see her like again. I hope there will be a DVD but it would be like catching a firefly in

QuoteSilver Dagger Going on Saturday with our own Mr Simon Nicholl so will report back. Can't wait. Saw her there in 79 and once again in 1982 at the Dominion Theatre. I'll be there on Saturday too. can't wait. Simon may not be able to take all his usual fantastic photos as kate has asked the audience not to, and apparently it is being enforced.

EVERYONE is entitled to an opinion on this, whether you live in Scotland or Outer Mongolia. As a Glaswegian who wants to stay in the UK I welcome Mick Jagger's intervention. ultimately, it will be for those us resident here to make the choice, but I think the Union is safe. I would predict a 60/40 rejection of independence.....but you never know? The Scottish mentality is weird. Push us into

Interesting comments SonicD. I was disappointed with the Livingston show in 89. thought they were way better in Birmingham a few nights earlier. I have seen them a few times in the years since, including Donington and a festival in Germany 7 years ago. But nothing touched London Calling a few nights ago. They were simply astounding. I had got separated from my mates in the crowd but it didn'

yep, there is something "wrong" with honkin on bobo. Like they're trying too hard, and it is all testosterone to the max. pretty desperate. I haven't played it in years. 9 Lives has some great stuff on it (Crash and The Farm spring to mind). Slightly marred by too many songs and muddy production, but a pretty decent album.
