He did a lot of webcasts during the pandemic. He told stories, played songs, and did phone interviews with friends. I watched a couple. He led a very interesting life.

Quotewaterrats There's a 15 second tweet from the soundcheck - but you can heardly hear anything except the wind blowing ... I think it was either Memo from Turner, Plundered my Soul, or She Smiled Sweetly.

Wow, that 1995 version has power, attack, and energy that stands out. Thanks for posting.

QuoteMelBelli There’s no accounting for taste in tone. My main point here is to say that we’re exaggerating the effects of age on both of them. It’s not the tone/choice of gear that’s been causing him to simplify his playing, sit down mid-set, etc. As folks have observed in the threads about recent shows, he seems to be less consistent and have less energy the last few gigs of this tour.

The last few shows have been a bit concerning. While every show is a gift, Keith's energy is down, for whatever reason, and he's not playing as much or as well as the beginning of the tour.

I DON’T want to spark any more discussion about political views or the pandemic. But the Washington Post has a long story on Eric Clapton’s personality, how he may or may not have changed, and how other musicians view him.

QuoteRocktiludrop QuoteRisingStone On Keith. Another factor I consider plays some role in this debate along with the ‘vividness effect’ I mentioned upthread (on p. 5) — ‘wishful thinking’. People don’t wanna see their hero decline. He does. Slowly or not, but surely. He is human. Like us. Like everybody else. Time waits for no one. Yes true but what was revealing this tour was that it wasn&#

Veering (remaining) off topic to discuss Mick’s singing. I saw Tony Bennett a few years ago. He was doing much less singing than he used to do. But he had adapted his style so that he still made the songs meaningful by changing the emphasis he placed on words (or parts of words), hinting at notes, and shaping a vocal line that made the listener think he was singing just as he always had. It

Quotebv It has happened before. I remember one time on the B-stage at MSG 1998, then Keith changed the set list because of a guitar problem Ronnie had. I wrote the following in my report then: They did It's Only Rock'n Roll first. The sound was really muddy, but it improved, and the song itself was great. Then they were about to do The Last Time, which was in the pre-printed setlist.

QuoteRocktiludrop Look at Keith when he played with the Winos, just a few known songs and the rest new or different and audiences eat them up, he got Rave reviews, come on man Stones audiences are not casual fans, give them more respect. What the hell it's too late now, enjoy the tour guys. Keith wasn’t selling 50,000 tickets a show. I’d love to see a bigger rotation of their catalog

QuoteLady Jayne The question I am asking myself is which dive bar in Pittsburgh is Sir Mick visiting tonight to partake of his pre-show beverage? Will Instagram shots of Mick 'man of the people' Jagger thwarting public recognition in photogenic locations be a feature of this tour? I certainly hope so. He’ll be walking on water at the junction of the Allegheny and the Monongahela, wh

QuoteRocktiludrop Quotepftw04 Just 2 years ago all of us used to bash Keith Richards for his inability to play solo in sympathy for the devil or providing thunderous into. However in the last 2 shows he was really outstanding. Where was he all these years? A question that can be answer by him I suppose it's a combination of having Steve with him and also stopping properly drinking ( I can

Keith’s guitar playing this year has been inconsistent. Some songs have been great. But he briefly stops playing, or plays only minimally, at many points during the set. It’s still early in the tour, so the quality and extent of his playing may well change.

It might have been that St. Louis was a dome, and some people didn’t want to be inside because of COVID, and Charlotte was outdoors. Or it could have been the St. Louis economy is terrible, and the Charlotte area is doing better.

I’ve always been more a Keith fan. I share Keith’s attitude towards knighthood and worrying about fancy society. And Charlie was my darling. But, wow, Mick is amazing. The willpower and talent to do what he does at age 78 is unbelievable. His physical conditioning —- even after the heart procedure — and determination to carry on are so impressive. All props to Mick Jagger.

While it’s always hard to tell from videos, this seems to be a much better show. All of the songs (except LSTNT) have sounded like the Stones and not just the backing band doing the Stones review. Some, like Ghost Town, 19th, and Before They Make Me Run have really been strong. Keith and especially Ron are having good nights. Mick remains a wonder. Many thanks to Paul Gomberg and the other

More than one thing can be true at the same time. A warhorse can be skipped for more than one reason. It can be great to see the remaining Stones in concert making music, while the music can be different in an important way without Charlie. Steve’s drumming may have sped up songs that have slowed down over the past ten years, and we can like that. At the same time, some songs may be mis

QuoteVoodooLounge13 QuoteThe Sicilian Another thing, I think someone is covering Keith's playing off stage. If you listen to Wild Horses and watch the videos you can clearly see and HEAR some other electric guitar being played while Ronnie was hitting the chords and Keith was really doing nothing on acoustic. While I disagree with your review, and I, too, was not there. I must say,
