QuoteGasLightStreet Has Billy Joel lost his credibility? What is your foundation for what determines credibility? No, Billy Joel never had any credibility. He was always just an entertainer. The Stones, U2, and many other rock stars had credibility because they had a significant impact on the broader culture, and pursued their careers as art and not just commerce. U2, in particular,

I prefer MT, but RW played CYHMK very well in 2002-03. RW's more recent attempts have been more inconsistent.

I watched Matt Lee's video again. Powerful performance. I liked how Keith was looking up, to see how she was doing, and how happy he was that she performed so well. A long time ago, GS had an unmatched sense of danger about it. It doesn't always feel that way now. More of the edge, the foreboding, was back with this performance.

Quoteretired_dog QuoteGreen Lady The problem with CYHMK in 2022 is that of trying to reproduce a jam created many years ago by a particular group of musicians, when only one of them is still on stage (or two if you count Mick, but I'm talking about the instrumental jam here). Which of the original group you miss most is down to you, but it isn't ever going to sound that way again (ala

QuoteTheBluesHadaBaby Such serendipitous discoveries will happen when the Stones give us actual legitimate, working, accomplished acts that have built their own followings and put out music people want to hear. Acts that "dare" to headline their own tours, and draw real, paying crowds on tours they undertake on their own, rather than coattailing on big names. Like, you know, real bands

QuoteStonedRambler Quotebam That CYHMK was almost like when they used to play abridged versions of FM songs as singles on AM radio. Very short sax and guitar breaks. Great KR riffing, but other than that . . . . It just totally misses Charlie's swing... Compare how static it sounds compared to this: (They played it like double tempo or so tonight. Like some beat song) It seemed like Mick

"During the 6 June 2013 concert in Toronto, Canada, as part of the 50 & Counting Tour, Mick Jagger sang a few bars (with Charlie Watts drumming the beat) after mentioning the single being released exactly 50 years ago, the day after that night.[3] It was the first time the song was heard in any capacity during a Rolling Stones concert since 1965.[1]" )

Quotedaspyknows Liely the same. When on tour the setlist rarely changes. When on tour I have found many (most) shows are punch the timeclock shows. RAH is usually different as is MSG. The shows with Steve Winwood were different in that regard because he had a peer to push him. For those who want to flame me, I have the recordings to prove it. Clapton has been like that since at least the

QuoteHairball Quotegotdablouse QuoteGreen Lady Thanks, wow the beginning of Rocks Off was rough and it's still a mess...wrong tuning on the guitar ? Sounds like a 1981 show ! Butchered or not, glad they replaced Sad, Sad, Sad...a screwed up version of Rocks Off is better than a perfect version of Sad, Sad, Sad any day. Maybe next show they'll play All Down the Line. Sad Sad Sad

According to Bill's 'Rolling with the Stones', however, it was played on the Sep/Oct 1966 UK tour. I'll go with Bill. Well, it was the first time they played it with Ronnie.

QuoteHairball Can't You Hear Me Knocking never really worked well live (except for the shows w/Mick Taylor), and has been especially lacking since Bobby Keys passed away. It's in my top 10 (or 15) of all time favorite Stones studio tunes, but without Mick Taylor, Bobby Keys, and now that Charlie's gone...not to mention Keith never being able to really nail the the opening ri

I could do without “Don’t Stop,” too. But it’s kinda nice to see the Stones pr machine getting sentimental. It’s likely not a coincidence that a song released for their 40th anniversary tour is unearthed for a 60th anniversary tour promo.
