Was thinking about how the 2012 shows were somehow a decade ago. Not sure how that's possible! Pretty cool that we've had live activity every year since. I don't think many people expected everything to be rolling (abliet, sadly, without Charlie) into 2023. The 2012-2013 shows were, to me, really a step above in terms of performance, set list, venue, show length, etc. It would be n

Quotemr_dja QuoteNashvilleBlues It could be cool if they played bigger college football fields. Knoxville, TN, Norman, OK, Ann Arbor, MI, Columbus, OH, Austin, TX, Pasadena, CA, come to mind, and there are plenty of other possibilities. I, and other local fans, have long dreamed of a Stones show at Knoxville's Neyland Stadium. Sadly, that venue and it's administration is way too conc

They're run like a business instead of a band. Putting out new music or playing obscure material live doesn't make sense for Rolling Stones, Inc. What about art?

Quote24FPS Who cares anymore? Do you think you're getting another Sticky Fingers? It took the core of Watts/Richards/Jagger & Wyman to create most of the magic. That will never exist again on this earthly plane. It's a chemistry thing. That's what's been lacking for decades now. They can put out a decent single from time to time, but even those aren't on the level of

QuoteRip This sways RW found 60 odd tracks and such...something he can use with the Stones and help them finish their album? Freezing Ronnie out of the Writing from Steel Wheels forward is a pity, he had some good contributions (IORR, Hey Negrita, Everything Is Turning to Gold, Dance, No Use Crying, Pretty Beat Up, One Hit to the Body, Dirty Work, Had it With You, Fight, etc.)

Would not be surprised to see more shows in 2022 someplace. I don't know anything, just a hunch.

It occurred to me that the last time the Stones released an album of originals, I was 29 years old and I am now 46. Wild, lol.

Spending a month workshopping 80 songs and only to barely change anything, over and over again, is sort of hilarious at this point.

The last interesting thing Mick wrote and put out was probably Doom & Gloom, a decade ago, which was then the first interesting thing since 2005. (Well, to be fair, England Lost I kind of liked.) He was once very, very prolific: 89 - Stones album 93- Solo album 94 - Stones album 97 - Stones album 00 - Solo album 04- Alfie Soundtrack 05 - Stones album 08 - Superheavy Since... a fe

They're very rich, have low stress, seem to have good genes, and playing guitar for two hours a night, two nights a week over two month period isn't exactly a marathon. (shrugs)

- There's a finite number of hooks: how many great I-IV-V chord progression songs are there? - Technology is really bad for the way records sound and also the way people pay attention and listen: every new song is insultingly simple it seems. - The further rock gets from being directly influenced by the blues, the worse it gets. - rock isn't new or shocking anymore. Mick has said Keith is very bigoted in his thinking, which is true. There is quite a lot of hip hop that's good, musical and clever, but I do hate how it has taken over absolutely everything.

They're so averse to something not being well-received: a new record, playing a little-known song live, expressing a political opinion, changing arrangements, etc. The final 20 years of their career will, unfortunately, be marred by, to quote TS Eliot, "Do I dare ... Do I dare ..."

They wrote everything that they're known for between 1965 and 1977, 12 years out of 60. It's typical that songwriters have careers like that. Paul Simon did Graceland when he was 45 years old, but most of the music consisted of tracks he lifted out of South African records. I can't think of anyone that really wrote hits after their mid-30's or so.
