Quotekleermaker QuoteAmsterdamned Welcome back, Kleermaker. Quite surprising Thanks Amsterdamned. I came back because HM surprised me so much that I felt the need to ask him a question. But surprisingly he doesn't appreciate that. Well, it's okay. tears in my eyes

Quotekleermaker QuoteHis Majesty Hey, I dislike much of what they did post 1972, Surprising for me to read that you like much of them after Let It Bleed until 1973/GHS. Or is that a wrong conclusion? I had the impression that your dislike of all post Brian stuff and Mick Taylor was growing every month. Personally I've tried very hard to get into the 'Wood stuff' since t

Quotedcba Quoteduke richardson he loves playing! He thrives in those theaters and clubs, playing swinging boogie woogie with his friends. That's right and imho Charlie secretly wishes the Stones to throw the towel for good so he can keep doing these "small" gigs on a more regular basis (in the U.S. Japan etc...) I Think charlie secretly likes the big thing with the stones too

QuoteSleepy City Quotekeefbajaga QuoteDoxa The first song The Stones showed what one could call "professionalism". Partly dure to Chicago Chess studios, their engineers, and probably the band wanting to ve so precise as possible; very inspired performance and recording, and still today is soundwise a pleasure to hear. Yeah, the 'punkish' rawness of their fisrt album, and the s

QuoteMathijs QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteNaturalust QuoteMathijs QuoteNaturalust QuoteMathijs Sure Hendrix could play the blues –he could play anything and more. But he never was a ‘blues’ guitarist, not at all. Sure he was influenced by BB King and all the blues cats, who wasn’t when you started playing guitar in the early 60’s. But if you look at the output of Hendrix there’s just a handful of

Quotestones78 QuoteAmsterdamned Quotestones78 QuoteAmsterdamned Taylor is a genuine blues player, Wood in not. So even if they play the same riff or lick, they always sound different. It's a matter of taste who you like most, or both... It's as simple as that. You seem to be the authority here as to who is a "genuine" blues player and who isn't. What about Keith? G

QuoteDoxa I find a bit odd that people see SuperHeavy as in competion with the Stones, or that it is a 'real' band in the sense The Stones is/was. Or even that Jagger might play double cards with the poor other members of SuperHeavy (that he will cold-heartidly 'leave' them or is just using them just for his own benefit)... oh my god... SuperHeavy is not any 'real' b

Quotetreaclefingers Quoteshortfatfanny QuoteSilver Dagger Seven songs from one album - is that the most ever played on a tour? Or did any of the 72 dates feature more songs from Exile? Vancouver maybe? Eight,Lies has been played on various shows as well on this tour... I would bet some of the shows from 64 had more tracks from one album. True, what a band

QuoteDragonSky He does a pretty good job with Miss You don't you think? It's dirtier than Bill did it but it's the gist of the tune, in his own way. I think that's the real key. Darryl needs to play like Darryl. Nobody can play like Bill but they can certainly work with what he played. agree

I Always wondered why Darryl doesnt even try to play the original Bill bass lines that make the songs so great, (best example I think is when the whip comes down) but he just plays the basic notes (this counts for almost every song.) and thats exactly how you shouldnt play the stones songs, this is so important, it really makes all the difference, so on this I fully agree with Mathijs and others w

QuoteStoneage But Keith didn't write the book, James Fox did. Finished reading the book a couple of weeks ago (before my computer gave in). Keith's contribution is quite minimal. It's very much a cut- and paste job. Somewhat a disappointment. The part about his childhood is the part worth remembering. Keith wrote the story while living his life, He is the book, so i dont think i

QuoteDoxa Wow! Jagger is in good spirits these days! It looks like Jagger can not make it by himself (solo), but he needs other interesting other people around him, so that he can really shine. He needs contrast. A challenge maybe to steal a show, or something. It looks like that the Stones doesn't inspire him any longer. He just does his thing, collects the money and that's it. No i

QuoteRedhotcarpet QuoteSleepy City Quotepaulm After years of getting off on '69-'73, I went back listening to '78's thump compared to '81's sloppy amateur hour, complete with sidekick R. Wood doing just about nothing. The Stones ALWAYS have a vibe, but man did it change. For the better? Not so much. I thought Mick's singing had improved by 1981, though 197
