Pick up our Lucky Dip tix ($26 each) and find we're in almost the last row of section 440 - we could've touched the top of the Sears Tower from there. Doors are supposed to open at 5:30, but 6pm rolled around before the gates opened. Our tickets didn't scan so we went to the resolution counter where I explained Lisa couldn't handle the height ; at first, we were told there was

While I love Dream Syndicate, the first three shows featured The Suburbs who reminded people why they are so enjoyable as well.

Ended up getting similar seats in Milwaukee to the seats we had for the last Bowie show at the same venue. Of course, the last Milwaukee show I saw on April 1 was 1977, when Iggy played with Blondie opening when a mop topped Bowie played keys for Mr. Osterberg.

Neil was dandy last night in Madison, in front of a very appreciative audience. He played the shit out of Harvest and avoided jukebox calls - well, he did play "Heart of Gold" but it was only the second time I've heard it in 20+ shows over the decades. Now, back to Jo Ann Kelly - oh my

Buddy often stops in his club when he isn't on the road or around events like BluesFest. We were at Legends for Blues Fest brunch and he was in the club, chatting up my wife (of course). Fun club, just play by the rules (no sloppy drunks, no standing in front of the stage).

Always been a big REM fan, even though my wife couldn't stand Stipes' stage dancing. The Baseball Project has 2.5 members of REM: Mike Mills, Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey (who played guitar with latter day REM), along with Petals for Zuzu's Linda Pitmon and Dream Syndicate's Steve Wynn. Even if you aren't a baseball fan, their songs are quite good. They often cover &quo

Started with "the Mexican Tree Duck" and was hooked on Crumley. This led me into Jon Lansdale as well - good tv series based on his characters is floating out there too. JLB has always been a good read and the Louisiana settings just add to the storyline. Second that on Westlake: witty, funny capers that make sense - they even translate well on film.
