During 80s the Stones have realesed 5 studio albums but at the same time they did 2 tours only. Then the typical moaning coming from the fans was: "Why are Stones so lazy? After all Rock and Roll means live...concerts". Now the typical moaning is : "Why are Stones so lazy? Music means new stuff". Maybe moaning is a kind of life style for us...

I consider myself as a huge Stones fan. But not as a nostalgic one... Judging by Stones measures i don't like 1975-1978 years (partly 1978 included). I mean their live performances.

Oasis in Athens Blur in Athens Both of them in the late 90s or early 00s, i don't remember. Horrible... Also, Bob Dylan in Athens, two shows. Late 80s, early 90s. Really bad gigs...

SAL as movie isn't something special, IMO. It's just a filmed concert. Nothing less, nothing more. But SAL as live Stones material is #2 (after "Ya-Ya's"), to me. Raw, energetic, without the thin guitar sound i remember from a part of the past (for example 1989-90 tour). To be honest, i have heard best Mick's performances on ABB tour. But even so SAL's Mick is w

LOGIE wrote: "Knebworth 1976 was such a huge let down." Totally agree, despite the fact that Knebworth '76 was my first Stones concert ever... Also, a notable number of gigs from 1975-1978 years are on the lowest positions of my list. Judging by the Stones standards, of course (just mean that i never have attend a really bad Stones concert. Even the weakest Stones gigs i have

Maybe Bingo's photo (ironic, as usual!) is coincidental, but what i know is that Keith and the owner of ARGO bar are friends. I remember a Keith's photo with him, taken in the middle 90s.

"What happened to rock 'n' roll?" Talking about live performances, i don't think something happened SPECIALLY to rock n' roll. I mean, there is something serious here but it doesn't refer to R&R only. The whole music industry seems to be problematic these days. I suppose there are various reasons and explanations. Maybe a reason is TV, as Gazza said. Mayb

Alimente, i don't think they want necessarily to surpass past tour gross record. Who does consider B2B, NS and Licks as "spoilt" tours, thinking that they didn't broke VL's gross record? Noone, of course. Maybe the Stones have big ego but they aren't lunatics! Due to their ego they probably are ambitious to surpass in terms of gross and attendance any other act touri

In the years 1972 - 1974, when i was 11-13, my favorite band had been Slade. You know, "glam rock" years... Since then, the Stones is by far my #1 favorite band. Thanks to their music and to their live performances.

Reason #1: Their live performances! Despite the moaning on this board, the Stones remain a great live act. Reason #2: In 45 years career, IMO they haven't created a really bad album. Even "Dirty Work", their weakest studio record, has some interesting moments ("One Hit", for example) and a decent general level. You know, a great act is really great not only because

Generally speaking, yes, you' re right of course. On the other hand musicians are not athlets. Until one day, even at the age of 60+, they can be good enough thanks to their talent, experience and wisdom. Until one day...

Everyone does express his own opinion, of course. About two gigs, about two bands, about everything. But, rrronnie, as for the Stones in Hambourg i have seen basically positive reviews. I mean about gig's quality. Judging the success of entire tours just looking at sporadic gigs and their attendances is rather pointless. We have to see the total attendances or to ignore this figure. "They are probably both showing signs of age and like I said before the six year age difference does matter. How was Keith during the licks tour as opposed to now?" Frank, Ronnie was much better in 2007 than in 2003 (in Europe). I don't think everything is a matter of age.

bumbum, judging from my experiences i have to disagree. I have attended 41 Stones gigs so far. Noone was really weak. To me the scale is "decent- good- very good- amazing". By the high, Stones standards, of course. And the huge majority of these shows, last years included, belongs to the "very good" and "amazing" categories. I think one of the special band's a

Fair observations and points, Mofur. Yes, sales have probably dipped further in the last 2½ years since ABB came out. But ABB global sales must be considered as excellent compared to sales done by the vast majority of other famous acts, a few WEEKS or MONTHS after ABB came out. As you know, during it's stay on Worldchart's Top 50 ABB had sold 1,927,400 copies. Almost two millions units

After having attended 118 different acts live, all the famous included (except E-Streetband, i never had the opportunity of seeing them) since middle 80s, my conclusion is clearest. The Stones are the best. Period.
