I have not read all the way through this thread. One thought though - I f Jordan is on drums then get Charlie Drayton in on bass. And that Neville man on keyboards - then we'd have some rocking outfit. The Rolling Winos.

Bill played at the Peter Green celebration last year so is not 'retired'. I can't think that he would want to play without Charlie. They should use him in the studio. Blue and Lonesome would have been a whole lot better with him on bass (Rhythm section on that album totally without character)

A very generous man ,Mick Fleetwood. So good he did this before Peter passed away. Big shame Fleetwood can't sort something out with Buckingham. Yes, Fleetwood loves the Stones, and not least their blues bassist.

Ah, but I bet Steve Gaines can sing?! It's about time they let Ronnie play and eng one on an album though. One More For the Road is one of the best live albums there is. As is On the Road by Traffic of course.

Power of Love is a/the good one by H Lewis and the News. Lewis being a Welsh name, like Jones. So an obvious Stones' connection there. And both BbL and AMYS are ofcourse wonderful Stones' songs. The latter had great dynamics live too. Worked really well do slow down the mood on those tours. Like Love N Vain in '69 - 70.

I was a die-hard Stones fan. There were not many more die hard than me. Stones were VERY disappointing. More on them later. But this a Lynyrd Skynyrd thread! So good to have all the Skynyrd footage. They came on at the hottest part of the day ( very hot) and they still got people animated and on their feet. Far to hot to dance reall. You had to walk a long long way to get water. Most

Yes, I was there. Great day - and they are the main reason. They really woke the crowd up. Best Freebird I've heard. All there on YouTube too. Whisky Rock-'n'- Roller too! And yes, best act of the day. Most of that park's elm trees in which people are perched will have gone now.

I expect that Keith is busy writing and playing and that his next solo project will be very good, like the last one.

Quotegotdablouse Wow, so many negative Nancies around here, you'd think that the singer of your favorite band releasing a surprise song that rocks your socks off with a guy that's got rock cred and that gets kudos from the press and most everyone out there could only be received warmly and positively, but no ! Just prefer to feel miserable, eh ? In other (?) news, here's a remin

I suppose their ' legacy's is now becoming their longevity and the fact that they can still pull off good live shows. But artistic legacy. Well, it"s been a long long time. 3 album!s of new work in over thirty years? And only one is particularly good imo - has some interactive 'band' life to it - and that's Bridges to B. That's an album they wanted to

Quotetatters You don't hear rock stars using words like "extrapolate" or "machinations" very much nowadays. Indeed. A serious lowering in standards took place after the republican/conservative revolution of the late 7Os and 80s.

Quotedandelion1967 QuoteS.T.P QuoteSilver Dagger Quotegrzegorz67 That’s outstanding, capturing the band at the top of their game. What raw power! I don’t think there’s anyone on stage other than the core 5 plus Bobby. What a find and thanks for sharing ! And that's a big point you made there grzegorz. Oh to see just the main five on stage without any of the backing vocals, double keyboa

He was holding down a very steady rhythm throughout most of rambler. And he's damn good at it an d totally focused. And on Bitch of course, but he's hardly audible - someone else is playing very loud lead all the way through! It '

The first one showcases the lean, mean Mick Taylor licks and the second is the KR lurch and raunch show. And each perfectly complements the other with their different rhythm styles. So much mutual respect, space and grace. The icing on the cake would be Sympathy which showcases theme in both departments. But what is great about the audio too is that you can really hear Bill's es

The previous album had had 4 consistent new ones, with at least one more tried early on. And Tattoo You did pretty well - although those were 2-album tours! Anyway, not quantity but quality!

But isn't LA Forum the one that gets so many plaudits, as an example of a good 75 show? Though there was more than one show, - 3? I have yet to hear an example of a good 75 show, though I haven't made much effort! The Keith/Charlie combo has been severed, it seems to me, aurally. And physically - Charlie up on some raised platform. The stage did make a difference. Separated

By the way Eric, which 73 shows are substandard ( relatively)? I genuinely don't know. Though DP did once post a clip of an Austrian show late in the tour where Keith seemed wasted.
