Quotegeorgelicks Quotetreaclefingers I find it interesting that with the start of the tour now less than 2 months out, that there's no album promotion or likely singles still to emerge. Was that badly timed? I mean there's nothing quite like a new album and a single on the charts while the band is touring it. It's still on the charts (though falling) in places like Germany but

Sort of in the tradition of a song like She's So Cold, which on paper isn't anything special but the performance takes it to a completely other level, so much so that they can't do it in concert and do it justic

QuoteSpud Let Me Down Slow from ABB was a great "poppy" type number too. Very underated song for my money. I think we could come up with dozens examples like that. In many cases, people are get used to the songs so well that their melodies and even poppish features are not that recognizable. Or they hear other things there that they they prefer more; the melodic pop features are

An excellent post, Dandie! But think of WWW - my favourite song as well - and its catchy, melodic chorus, that sort of decision or idea is not oddity in Stones songs. Even an album that is not so famous for its melodic excellence, UNDERCOVER, has two pretty similar attempts in a rock song: "She Was Hot" and "Too Tough". - Doxa

Well, as the two posts above show is not hard to come up with respectful, adult-like and even constructive critical posts spelling out why a certain album do not move one that much. Unlike the childish, provocative one keefriffhards started this shit - the one that caused a natural reaction here. But the positive effect I hope is that this meta-talk helps people have some manners in future (and

QuoteStoneage So, the logic is: If you don't like it you're allowed to state it once, maybe a couple of times, but if you like it there is no such limit? I get it if people tend to be repetitive though... Probably both - that of hating or loving (to use those stupid terms) - can get boring or annoying after a while if repeted too much. Of course, when one is endorsing the stance it is

Quotetimmyj3 So when a person clicks on a song, does that count as a unit sold? Not quite. I googled: The standard in services like Spotify and Apple Music seem to be 1,250 premium audio streams, 3,750 ad-supported streams, or 3,750 video streams equals one album sale. For Digital Single Awards, each permanent digital download counts as one unit, and 150 on-demand audio or video streams

QuoteMadMetaphoricalMax I do love both. Back in 2015, I reviewed Cross Eyed Heart and thought it was among the best of new releases from the Stones world in a long time (the vaults were already putting out gems from the archives). Blue and Lonesome I also liked a lot, and Little Rain will always be a top 10 Stones fave for me - but then comes Hackney Diamonds and it's a step change in focus,

QuoteProfessorWolf Quotekeefriffhards It's telling that we got 83 pages of conversation on this Stones album whereas Crosseyed Heart got over 200 pages of mostly positive conversation from a solo Stone. QuoteJalfstra Why would you keep songs like IORR and even Tumbling Dice in the setlist, just for the sake of it? Those songs never were big number one hits that everybody knows. By the way, I wouldn't mind if they took satisfaction out of the setlist. There are more than enough other classics so that day trippers will not go home disappointed. Fantastic! The tune always been one of my favourites by Lou, and it fits perfectly to Keith/he is doing it justice. By the way, just saw an old Lou Reed interview in which he bashes all the British bands, starting with the Beatles... they should have not played rock and roll or anything, according to him... - Doxa

Here it comes. Brian has described his ambition as a musician that he is after sounds. He had a wonderful ear for that. What is peculiar with Brian is that his contributions have turned out to be timeless - they still today work and sometimes even shine like they did back then, no matter simple or whatever they were. That's true musicianship - no bullshitting or making art for the sake for i

"Tell the Truth" is an early version of "Mess It Up" and yes, it sounds like they really, really, really, really, really, really lost something. QuoteGasLightStreet A few years ago, on some thread, I opined on why I thought EOMS would've been better as a single album minus whatever (one of the few things HMS and I agreed on!), the songs on it that just don't do it for me, and, probably, exclaimed how SF could've been a double album (considering a bit of some SF leftovers make up a chunk of EOMS). C'mon, don't be that hard on Swayed1967. He or she just came to share his personal and I suppose honest opinion about the album. Something that had been put some thought, since its not any instant reflections. It's not like he/she is here to annoy anyone or to spoil someone's party or trying to campaign negativity by constant rambling (there've been those voices here).
