121. Re: Shame
QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotegeordiestone It's a bit of a shame that this tour is almost over, I feel as if they are really starting to hit their stride. Although I wasn't critical of Keith at the beginning it's pretty astounding how he has turned it round. The pace of the warhorses has gone up as well, more of an alive sound although I must confess I think the slower versions soun

I bought two singles on the same day in 1969 - Something's happening by Herman's Hermits and Ob la Di Ob la Da by the Marmalade. The first album I bought was Sticky Fingers in 1971.

Quoteschwonek "This is no time to enter into a conversation." -> Then Slipping Away. Keith, the master! God, that was beautiful. Beautifully sung, beautifully played. It really moved me.

Quotelaertisflash "I think the best would be if he went back to the ''clean'' sound he had on the licks-tour, then at least the mistakes wouldn't hurt everyone's ears so much" What Blockbuster says is a stimulus for some thoughts and remembering... Back in 2003 Keith did some mistakes which could be covered by no one and nothing - band's member

Finally got to watch it last night after its late delivery by Amazon and it blew me away. The energy level is amazing for a band in their seventies and the singing and playing superb. A really great release.

Quotekeefriff99 QuoteHairball You need facebook to hear this, but maybe you're better off not hearing it at all... Keith has my sympathy...bless him for trying. Ouch. The beginning of that "solo" actually made me laugh. Me too! And of course it picks up somewhat but then there was only one way to go from there. As Hairball says, bless him for trying.

QuoteRocky Dijon That's a shame. I really enjoyed his humor. I kept wondering if he was someone from a long time back under a different name on here. Well hopefully it is temporary. Cheers, LongBeach. I too really enjoyed his humour. He made valid points too and was by no means entirely negative about the Stones. I really can't understand why he should have been banned.

Any of them, all of them. These B&L numbers have been the highlight of the tour for me along with DWMD at Zurich. There seems to be a real ease about them when they do these old blues numbers.

I don't see Mick, Chuck or anyone else trying to sideline or emasculate Keith. On the contrary he still gets the solos he's always taken like Sympathy, IORR, HTW with patchy results and he still gets the intros he always got, again with patchy results. Certainly they try to cover for his diminished abilities with new arrangements or whatever which is surely borne out of necessity rather

Quoteswimtothemoon is there a real difference between something called "VIP Pit" tickets and "pit" tickets? In my experience in 2014 VIP Pit ticket holders got early entry and therefore were up at the rail. Ordinary pit ticket holders were let in soon after but couldn't get better than third or fourth row at the front. But whether or not that's the case this tour I

QuoteBostonBob So happy to see them touring but I need to ask, who are they targeting? or trying to play for? if you want 90,000 fans the price needs to be lower and the weather can't be a factor....they should know this..bad weather helps no one, not the band , the fans, the overall experience, the overall sales potential...would be much better to play 50,000 inside at the current prices

QuoteThe Sicilian QuoteGasLightStreet Under My Thumb sounds better than the BANG tour performance. Wow!!! I just listened to it now. It sounds great. Even more so, It absolutely reminds me of the 1969 Altamont version. That slow pace and that chord after the "its alright" The only thing missing were the Angels. Best version I've heard in years. Agree completely. Altamont

Quotelaertisflash As for the UMT clip Dandelion gave us, the high quality of the sound make me being absolutely sure: Folks, the version is excellent! Agreed. I really enjoyed it and Keith did a very nice job with it.

As a song it's bored me for years but since they feel obliged to play it at every show it works great as an opener. It's theatrical, it gets it out of the way and the sheer excitement of the show starting compensates for the banality of the song. (Nothing against the song btw, the Ya Ya's and TOTA versions are terrific, the 89 one decent but it's been a bore for many a year no

Quotestone4ever QuoteHonkeyTonkFlash Partly true but Ronnie was sober on the Licks Tour and played very well. Not sure how sober he was for ABB but he played very well then too. I think he was at his drunken sloppiest on B2B Tour. I think he was most away with the fairy's in the 90's During the Licks Tour he was off and on. I don't hold it against him, he did what he did, he

Quotecrawdaddy Really nice setlist, but do we really miss periscope and all these other new fangled thingys to get instant pics/videos etc ? I certainly don't. We got plenty of pics courtesy of Cristiano and others, so I can go to bed knowing it was a great gig tonight. We got the complete confirmed setlist soon after the show and youtube videos will be around soon I'm sure. Pat

Quotecorriecas Dancing with was beautiful.esp rhe back up singers doing their utmost. LOVED THIS AMAZING GIG . Jeroen So glad that you and many others who travelled long distances for this show got such a great setlist. From the snippets I've heard they played very well too. Good for them - they needed to change the formula a bit and they did. Hope the rest of the tour continues like thi

Quotenoughties Last night I considered posting a link to "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" by Middle of The Road just to cheer up the waiting time, but I just didn`t dare. It`s a catchy song. Their only that has stood the test of time. I always preferred the follow up which was Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee if I recall correctly.

QuoteRip This RW is really a gift to the Stones and us fans...he literally saved this band in the 70's and somehow survived the next 30 years of drugs and has come out the other side still sounding great....his work on Blue and Lonesome was exquisite.....and his guitar work on Micks 2 singles are also very good...good for RW!!! I agree. When he says the Stones keep getting better I feel it

Quotegrzegorz67 I thought he was excellent tonight - very genial snd happy as ever. He's always been by far the most sociable band member. He sat in the studio throughout the programme, even when they took breaks to show other items. He played out the programme with a bit of Elvis on his guitar. Top man. Yes, he came over really well and looked a picture of health. For a man with his hi

Quotewambambirmingham Actually EOMS was not very critically acclaimed at release. Very mixed reviews. See Rolling Stone review- The press have form when it comes to belated recognition of a masterpiece. They were exactly the same with Bowie's Low. Which I loved from the first hearing just as I did Exile.

QuoteMathijs Charlie's drumming style did change on the 1975 tour, he became more loose, playing constant fills and hardly playing a straight beat for more than 4 bars. Listen to IORR from LA Friday, he plays constant back and down beats, and fantastic snare fills all over. He played quite the same on the 1978 tour, but went back to a more straight style on the 1981 tour. Mathijs Yep,

It did then, and still does, feel slightly va
