The tweet that is at the top of this thread comes from Michelle Malkin. She is a professional victim who rants and raves about how liberal America has ruined everything in this world especially her life. She is also a professional whiner with no sense of humour whatsoever. Pay it no mind whatsoever.

Great youtube video of this.Blew me away. I've had reservations about Mick in the so-called Vegas era but his performance was amazing. He also kept close to the band, dancing as much for them as the audience. And much of the vocal was as genuine as 1969 to 1972. The real Mick - not that overly mannered singing.A near seventy year old man moving like that. I'm speechless. I would conside

They used to do shows in the afternoon because it didn't cost as much to produce. Limited light show. Just some white lights. First show I went to was Orchard Park NY (Rich Stadium) in 81 and Stones came on at four. The 1978 stadium shows were in the afternoon. In 1981 both Phillys and both Boulders were afternoon but San Diego was the first outdoor show at night. Obviously when they played

Chuck Berry is a monumental figure in music. May be a dick and has not respected his own talent but go back and listen to You Never Can Tell. Unbelievable. Bob Dylan is the greatest artist because he views himself as an artist and he continues to pursue artistic goals. After that, take your pick but greatest living artists include Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Lou Re

My first Stones show was Orchard Park Sept 27th. Very windy day. Sound blew all over the place. Had to cut down the pastel design as it was acting as a sail. They made a new one for later in the tour. Played in Boulder without it. Missed Thorogood. Journey were pretty dire. Stones were ragged but right. Set was somewhat switched around from what it would be and included Down The Road Apiece and T

Bob explains his technique in Chronicles. It uses so-called triplets. Quite similar to Ronnie Wood's soloing style. Bob did not play any lead guitar for most of his career. Really picked it up in the mid to late 90s

I do not believe Heartbreaker was performed at the second Baton Rouge show. Journalist Barbara Charone posted a review of both shows in Sounds (I think - could be wrong) and she noted all songs played. I don't believe she noted Heartbreaker. We have the complete Baton Rouge tapes. Ideas that the Stones played more songs at Baton Rouge have floated around but are unfounded. Journalists report

Many of the 60s survivors sucked in the 80s particularly Neil and Bob. Lou had a pretty good decade. The Blue Mask, Legendary Hearts and New Sensations are all very good records. He closed the decade with New York - to me his best record.

Back when I was still trading on analog tape I received a tape from the El Mocambo that contained Crazy Mama that did not cut after a few seconds. Runs for three minutes then cuts. Not a later version spliced in. Is this rare

QuoteGazza Springsteen has performed (off the top of my head) The Last Time, Satisfaction, Street Fighting Man, Sweet Virginia (with Steve Earle), Beast of Burden (with Alejandro Escovedo), Honky Tonk Women. His early band Steel Mill also covered You Can't Always Get What You Want in 1969. Totally forgot about Bruce. First time I ever saw him he played "Street Fighting Man". Have

Hopefully not a thread that already exists. Looking for lists of Stones songs performed in concert by major artists/bands etc where no recorded version exists by said artist/band. Bob Dylan playing "Brown Sugar" comes to mind. Steve Earle has done a few. "Dead Flowers" is on his first live album but no official recording of "Sweet Virginia". Did "Take It Or

The one time I met Big Jim Callaghan (Thunder Bay Ontario 1992 - he was working for Bob Dylan), he told a story which he said was from San Diego on the Steel Wheels Tour where Keith had called him from the stage in order to deal with a guy who was abusing a woman and was on "angel dust". I, of course, did not correct him and tell him that there was no San Diego stop on the Steel Wheels

The most glaring omission if you ask me is Warren Zevon. He wrote some great songs some of which really rocked. One of the greatest satirists in modern times. Kiss and Crue may have sold tons of records but they are not essential to understanding rock 'n' roll whereas I believe Zevon is because his work was so dripping with irony - a quality the Stones used to let drip off their work -

The Black Crowes "Jealous Again" is the Faces not the Stones. Agree that "Casino Queen" is Stones - like. Check out Steve Earle's Jerusalem album - Amerika 6.0 (The Best We Can Do) - "Get Off Of My Cloud" drum intro into "Jumping Jack Flash" riff variation. Also includes "Go Amanda" another Faces tribute. Sheryl Crow's "If It Makes

What was the best appearance by another artist with the Stones? I would have to say that my fave was Axl and Izzy in Atlantic City in 1989 because they did a special song which involved both Keith and Mick singing and Axl sang his heart out. The Atlantic City show had the best lineup of guests imho.

I regret not seeing the Stripes. I've seen Bob Dylan over 160 times and the one time I regret seeing him was when I went to Orillia Casino (in Ontario, Canada) to see him in July of 2007 while the White Stripes played my hometown of London Ontario and did a secret show at Arva Flour Mill. Regret not seeing Bob Marley, Talking Heads and Warren Zevon

It means that when listening on a stereo when there are two guitar players, they usually mix the tape so that one guitar player comes out of one speaker and the other guitar player comes out of the other speaker. Usually in Stones live recordings, Keith is in the right channel and Mick or Woody in the left channel. This is not the case with Brussels Affair. It is opposite.

My one complaint is that the guitars are reversed on the mix. I have always thought that Keith goes in the right channel and the other guitarist in the left. That's the way they stand on stage (Vancouver 72 excepted). It's easy to fix when listening. Otherwise I found the mix to have way more separation between the guitars than on the radio broadcast. I'm glad they chose mostly the

Buffalo 81 was my first show and I went to the first Pontiac show. Iggy was wearing pants and Santana were pretty good. At one point Carlos played a medley of Led Zep riffs. Stones were way slicker than in Buffalo - Ernie Watts tended to dominate the sound.Heard Going To A Go-Go, Waiting On A Friend and Satisfaction which were not played in Buffalo. Enjoyed this show but Buffalo was the real deal

When I was in England in the late 1970s finding the Brown Sugar maxi-single with stereo "Let It Rock". It wasn't that hard to find. Actually a friend of mine lived in Spain and had cassette version of Sticky Fingers with alternate cover and "Let It Rock" instead of "Sister Morphine" with a 30 second gap as protest for the censorship. As far as vinyl bootlegs, wh

Really have to disagree with some of your choices. Brown Sugar - Leeds 71, Philly 72, Brussels 73, some 75 versions, 78, some 81 versions particularly Buffalo. Street Fighting Man - Ya-Yas, Brussels All Down The Line - one of their best live songs if you ask me. With Taylor or Wood. Actual songs played poorly live - Far Away Eyes never as good as on the record. Tops though they never rea
