On my GHS playlist I delete Dancing With Mr. D and replace with Criss Cross Man. Personally I think Dancing With Mr. D is terrible though I don't mind the live versions. To each their own of course.

QuoteWinston1111 I have been collecting Billy's recordings since July 1973, just as I was turning 12. I'm 52 now and still chasing down rarities that relate to his career. I wanted to mention that there is a GREAT bootleg out there entitled "Billy Preston - In Central Park, New York City 1973" that features Mick Taylor on guitar. He sounds great and this performance sounds as

Quotedcba I still hope a good soul owns the Master tape and will share it for free at Dime (or elsewhere) as it happened with the Who'75 recording that was part of the "JEMS masters" collection. The fact that the Who tape was as good as the Stones' makes me think they come from the same skilled Toronto taper. Alas so far nada happened on the Stones front... The taper of

QuoteBungo True that. Warren Zevon sang: "He was an accident waiting to happen. Most accidents happen at home" One of my favourite lines ever. Actually about Elvis Presley. The title Porcelain Monkey can be seen on the table in the TV room at Graceland.

Quoteloog droog As good as the music is, there's a degree of BS surrounding The Last Waltz. Film critic Stanley Kaufman wrote about how strange it was to see such young men pretend to be old and talk about how tired and road weary they were. SCTV did a parody of The Last Waltz called The Last Polka The Last Waltz wasn't the last time they played together. The Band got to

QuoteTitle5Take1 Joe Strummer said in Rolling Stone Magazine about seeing the Stones on the 40 Licks Tour (paraphrase): "I'd never seen them live before. They were incredible. They're the greatest rock 'n' roll band in Christendom. In Islamdom, too." Joe Strummer saw the Stones at the Olympia in Paris in 1995. Bob Dylan took young son Jakob to see The Clash at the

Quotecrumbling_mice Any choice for the last great stones song seriously cannot come from anything later than Some Girls...at a push I'd give you Start Me Up but after that, nothing that could classed as a great Stones song. Obviously how you define 'great' dictates how we select and it is likely a decision influenced by the success of the song commercially must be a factor. Perso

QuoteNoCode0680 I'm in. Love me some Clash. I've never been able to get into Sandinista though, except a couple songs like Police On My Back and The Magnificent Seven, though I prefer the live version of that one from Shea stadium where they do it as a medley with Armagideon Time. Sandinista works but you have to be patient and listen to it as a whole. It also helps to be as stoned

All Along The Watchtower go to Expecting Rain, the Dylan boot site. Bob tapers put Stones tapers to shame. T@3 Actually Bob tapers are diminishing probably as his show becomes more predictable. There are many shows from the Amer

Quoteduke richardson I'd like to know more about the tour with Bob.. Mick Taylor played on Infidels which was a minor hit for Bob. The 1984 band was put together in the spring of 1984 in a very haphazard manner as per usual with his Bobness. The drummer wasn't decided until late. Rehearsals continued upon arrival in Italy and Mick Taylor told Bob he was unprofessional. Bob fired him b

QuoteDandelionPowderman One song?? Where is the rating of I just wanna make live to you (1990) etc.? I put Let It Rock on the list cos it was a separate live release now issued on CD (Rarities). I Just Wanna Make Love To You is part of the Flashpoint release. In fact there were seven non album B-sides from that album.

The greatest living songwriter is still Chuck Berry. Bob Dylan is second. Queen? You have got to be kidding. Worst band in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. I believe Tele71 is being more than generous with the number five. I personally think it is one (Crazy Little Thing Called Love).

BTW, Stand Your Ground laws were written with the intention of allowing a home-owner latitude if someone illegally broke into your home. Unfortunately, it also applies to someone in pursuit of anonymous teens walking home from the convenience store.

Mr. Zimmerman followed a private citizen with a loaded gun. He shot that citizen to death and walked free. The jury applied the law as it was written and acquitted Mr. Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman seemed to be ignorant of how following a young person (whom he did nor know) and accosting him might have been perceived as threatening behaviour. Only in the U.S. would such a behaviour be tolerated but th

I don't trust Rolling Stone's opinions on music anymore. Come on they gave Goddess In The Doorway five stars cos Jann Wenner is a friend of Mick's. But their non-music coverage has been consistently good. Matt Taibbi was all over the Wall Street fiasco at time of bailout. Ok they put a terrorist on the cover. My understanding the article is good journalism. Yes this is about sales.

When I went to school in England I visited my brother in London for midterm fall 1977. We watched QPR vs Notts Forest in the afternoon and Bob Seger with Meal Ticket that night at the Hammersmith Odeon. Night moves was his current record. It was a great show. A lot of the audience were American. He killed that night.

I was at last night's show. Initially got section 312 in $85 ticket lottery but got upgraded to section 110 before lights out. The sound was amazing. The best I have heard at a Stones show. I enjoyed the show a lot. This was my fifteenth show and the the first time I heard them play Get Off Of My Cloud, Worried About You, Emotional Rescue, D & G. OMS and CYHMK. I was there cos Mick Taylo
