A quote from a Los Angels Times interview from 2022: Damon Albarn: ‘ Not to say that I didn’t absolutely love the Rolling Stones in their heyday — they were magnificent. But do other stuff in your life. Singing (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction when you’re pushing 80? Come on.' So,look, he does appreciate the Stones’ greatness. I’m sure he’s a fan and admirer of the music produced during t

Quotetreaclefingers the article must have had some of you leaving early....this a bit later on, "Criticising the band further, Albarn added: “I did all sorts of things, whereas they’ve never been anything other than the Rolling Stones. I love the idea of devoting your life to one thing, in search of the sublime. But the truth is, they’ve become worse.” “Worse at persisting to stay them

QuotePaddy Damon’s always been a bit of a tit he has that whole mockney thing going on. Exactly! He may have been born in London, but he was raised in Colchester! He’s an Essex lad, just like his great collaborator, Graham Coxon; who, by the way, was the real talent in Blur. Great, innovative guitarist.

QuoteRocky Dijon QuoteBig Al Get on yer bike, Damo Keith also used to shoot off his mouth about other artists. Someone gives you a forum and you use it. They're just opinions and change nothing other than how much you like or dislike the loudmouth in the moment. A bit like referencing politics when it's only going to get you in trouble. I'll edit my post

QuoteGasLightStreet I buy very few music magazines these days (going back 10 years or so) but this one I will hopefully find. I haven't bought a music magazine in years, after religiously reading the likes of the NME, Q, and MOJO for several years. Occasionally, like when stranded at a railway station, I'll flick through one at a newsagent, like WH Smiths. What I notice at these infre

I think filiflam is referring to arenas; not stadiums that have a roof. I don’t think the Stones will play arenas on a regular basis again, as it’ll mean having to perform more shows. Either that, or the prices will be unaffordable for too many. The stones want to perform to as many people as possible, whilst doing as fewer shows as they can. That’s why they perform stadiums, only.

QuoteMrForeverMusicFan QuoteTaylor1 Mick Taylor and Brian Jones were terrific too This is a thread specifically about Ronnie Wood. Perhaps there should be a separate thread discussion for Brian Jones and one for Mick Taylor. There is; and you're right. Here is to discuss Ronnie. Anyway, here's something that's always puzzled me: Stones fans' inability to distinguish bet

QuoteSilver Dagger QuoteDoxa Quotewoodyweaving QuoteGasLightStreet Ronnie established his Stonesism between the 1978 and 1983 albums in terms of what he does/offers, with some magical playing on each album. After that, not much. He had some excellent playing on STEEL WHEELS but since then has essentially been reduced to not much - until HACKNEY DIAMONDS. I've always felt like Ron ge

Don’t Stop will surely go down as one of the most minor of entries in the Stones’ song-writing cannon. Yes, it was performed throughout the 2002-’03 tour, and with 40 Licks’ huge sale, millions would’ve heard it; or at least granted it a cursory listen. However, it charted poorly, and it certainly wasn’t what the public – other than the avid Stones fan – purchased the compilation for. I happen to

Not to purposely turn this into a discussion about Keith’s arthritis, but Ronnie has been far more prominent, in my opinion, since Blue & Lonesome. He’s taking more the solo-spots and feels more of a domineering influence over the Stones’ overall guitar-sound. This is only a good thing, as it is long being evident that Ronnie is, still, quite the tasty player. His solo on the recent live rend

Quoteopj Sometimes treasures are hidden on b-sides. They absolutely are. One of the sadder consequences of the demise of the single, is that we've lost the B-side. The Stones, Beatles, et al, were part of a truly fantastic period, whereby artists and acts genuinely cared and thought about the upcoming single's flip-side. Oasis, in my opinion, were the last group to really put in the e
