Was Voodoo Lounge not an attempt by Don Was to ‘recreate’ the sound of Exile on Main Street? If not that precisely, it was, at least, a determined effort to make the Stones’ ‘sound’ more ‘classic’ I do think the album has a nice warmth to its feel, and I do, very much, like it’s 60’s-like vibe in tracks like New Faces and The Worst. Love Is Strong is another nod to a sort-of classic and familiar

Quotebye bye johnny QuoteDoxa Are those people in the photo really Shirley and Charlie? No, but Getty Images apparently thought so. That picture of "Charley Watts and Shirley Watts" is part of a photoset with "The Expendables" actors Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Jean Claude Van Damme. It gets funnier! Oh, my Lord!

QuoteMathijs QuoteDoxa Are those people in the photo really Shirley and Charlie? - Doxa I think the first photo is Charlie and his sister Linda. Mathijs Could be, but he looks a little younger than Charlie, in my opinion. I know the photo was taken in 2012, but nevertheless. Also, the attire doesn't seem 'Charlie'

Yet Stones album sales have always been low... London doesn't know the Stones exist. Stupid UK European people! Most album sales have happened in the US overall. Europeans are too busy taking holiday

Quotededospegajosos I really wanted to hear keith¨s guitar on Bite My Head Off, what it sounded like with that we saw on the videos....and it was completely gone...looked like he was just hammering that E chord .. It coudn´t have sounded that bad that they decided to wipe it out completely? I don’t understand the decision, either. His guitar is a little muffled on the YouTube videos we’ve all s

Quotepowerage78 Rolling Stones live records illusion Ha! I think I'll stick with the grainy YouTube footage! No, I do jest. I'll have a proper listen when home this evening. I'll reserve genuine judgement, somewhat. However, Keith's rhythm-overdub on Bite Your Head Off is jarringly obvious to my ears, still. I wasn't even the firs to notice and comment on it!

QuoteDoxa A nice live version! All the three principals are doing a good work. Keith nails the riff and Ronnie's solos are powerful. I am surprised how well Mick delivers the song. I thought he might have struggled with the chorus, as it sounds like one of those hard to translate into live, but quite the opposite. And as far as the verses go, the cockney is even more distinctive here. -

QuoteDandelionPowderman I'm impressed by your ears! Can't really hear overdubs, only clever mixing. They might have replaced bum licks with other good licks in the songs, though. I need to listen more. When you're able to, listen to Keith's rhythm on Bite You're Head Off. It sounds like a totally different track.

Quotepowerage78 Great overdubs. Good job... Keith's are probably done by his guitar tech, though! No, I like my live albums to be as real and genuine as possible. Otherwise, what's the point?

So many overdubs, though. Is any of Keith's guitar on Bite My Had Off, actually 'live'? It sounds as if it's been completely redone in the studio!

Also, is it just my ears, or am I hearing some of the original studio guitar in this live version of Angry? Some of Keith’s fills sound like they’re lifted from the record.

QuoteMonkeyMan2000 Judging just from the samples: There seems to be a replaced guitar on Keith track on Bite My Head Off, right? Sorry MonkeyMan2000, I’ve just posted about this, without noticing that you’d already mentioned it. Yes, to my ears, it’s a different track. I like my live Stones to be ‘warts and all’ Perhaps Andrew Watt’s influence will be all over their live releases from now on!

QuoteTopi Sweet Sounds Of Overdubs Going by the snippets on iTunes, I’m inclined to agree. Keith’s guitar on Bite My Head Off has clearly been overdubbed. What you hear in the sample is most definitely not what he okayed live. I’m the circulating video’s, his guitar is muffled slightly, but is audible enough to hear exactly what he’s playing. Hmmm…

Quotespunky I thibk they will tour Europe in 2025. 30 years after the Euro Leg of the Voodoo Lounge Tour. That's insane, but the Stones' longevity is that in itself.

Quotefrankotero Big Al, I think there's many of us that would like to see it as a stand-alone. For what it's worth I would pay the same price just for the Live CD, so it makes no difference. Probably just another way to boost HD sales overall. Yes, that's what I suspect, too. Just an option to download it, individually, from iTunes, would be nice, though.
