One of the great Stones grooves! I love the lazy fat groove that brings you into the song. the way the electric piano (Mac?) quiets the song before the sax part by Sonny Rollins, thats some great stuff. having Rollins contribute to Stones music is fun, must have been cool for Charlie! and Wayne Shorter, on B2B. they tried to get Miles Davis to guest on a song once, didn't they? thats a

Keith said in an interview that Godard "happened to catch us on two very good nights..." or maybe it was a Mick interview...anyway its good to have a document of the Stones working on one of their masterpieces, as Leonard said! no loops back then, they just played that badass samba! what a song. DR

yeah the Kravitz/Aerosmith show was a few days back...didn't see it, but I heard from a Kravitz fan that it was really good. ya know I'd have to say the Bobcats Arena is really just another basketball joint, its well built I reckon, but I was disappointed with the steep incline of the middle section where our seats were. I agree 100% about the damn suits get all the great tix, which

Leonard, yeah EH was a great Otis-sounding white RnB singer and guitar player, on sessions for Capricorn, who he had a record deal with...I saw him once, in a bar, he played and sang his ass off, for about 50 folks. Hi John, yes I'd like to see upgrades of D&B Atlantic stuff too! Amazing how it all ties up, and the Stones connection...

this hit from 1972 had Chuck Leavell on it...used to like the song, back in the day...more recently I met the bass player on it, who played in a band here in NC for years. They were all friends with the Allman brothers...Sailcat was some Tuscaloosa, Alabama musicians. Anyone keep up with this music? It relates directly to Stones music, not only because of Chuck, but Wayne Perkins was also from

just wondering about this early R&B act that was on some of the first tours the Stones were part of...does anyone remember seeing them? Jagger said he learned some moves from Inez Foxx, and Wyman mentions them in Stone Alone... I do know they were from Greensboro NC, and I used to work there with an older guy who knew them...this was many years ago. DR

Burning in Water Drowning in Flames" ...the first thing I read by him. then 'Factotum"...great stuff, so funny and sad. got most of his work. he was reportedly not a bad painter too. I'd like to see some of his paintings. he cut like a "hot poker through loose tinfoil"... DR

just got this, and I know it's been discussed on the board here...this is the best blues record I've heard in a long time. I love the different personalities on this. especially good to hear Levon Helm. Keith's take on 'Still a Fool' is nice. DR

Charlie has said he listened to Chico Hamilton playing brushes on 'Walkin' Shoes' by Gerry Mulligan, and it made him want to play drums, which he did by turning a banjo he had into a snare drum! But the most influential drummers concerning the Stones are probably the Chicago drummers who played on all those records the Stones listened to...Earl Palmer, Fred Below, Sam Lay, Calvin

For me its Stanley Booth's 'Dance With The Devil" (original title) aka The True Adventures of the Rolling Stones... does that count as biography? Supposedly Booth is working on a biography of Gram Parsons. I'd sure like to read it. DR

M. Yammbag- my apologies, the comment I make about this song being relevant today is my opinion about the misuse of government secret surveillance, which has a long historical precedent. it's dangerous. But I never meant to make any flip remarks about those who died 9/11. DR

yes I went to this show! it was great, a stripped-down stage, kind of no frills. heard a lot of Some Girls songs, and loved it. I was with some girl and she was telling me 'better come back next week cause you see I'm on the losing streak'! seriously, I was trying to enjoy the show, but was kind of distracted by the girl. I was only 23 then... I'm trying to remember who

yeah that was a good interview, and I would ask: why has Stanley Booth been so quiet, nothing much from him since that interview. Reportedly he's working on a book about Gram Parsons, I'd sure like to read it, hope it comes out soon. He was there. DR

OK just saying this because we know they love to play smaller places...many cities on the itinerary have great clubs/music bars that, if the effort was made, Keith and/or Ronnie, or even Mick, could go and play some. Simple as that, just go sit in, with a good band in the area... logistically it would take some doing, but surely if the desire was there, they'd do it. And on the same subje
