QuoteMathijs Quoteastmalia In my ears, the sound of the piano in RT is the same as SFTD. Drums and the absolutely fantastic sounding acoustic as well. Mathijs Yep, that track was the biggest and happiest surprise, IMHO. No way that was recorded in '66 as some people here suggested.

Quotecoffeepotman Did anybody get all 70+ tracks? All live tracks are now available in this thread: But I deleted all the non-MSG shows because they didn't sound good enough for me. But the MSG shows are fantastic. I can really recommend listening to the 28th Late Show, which is the one that has the least songs on Ya-Ya's. It's rougher than Ya-Ya's for sure, but has so

Quoteslewan Quotedcba My own personal filing of the tracks : 12- 1978-05 Gimme Shelter (Woodstock rehearsal) ABKCO doesn't own the rights for anything recorded after 1971! Yet there it is, the Woodstock '78 version of Gimme Shelter. You can check it on youtube as well. The singing style, Ronnie on guitar and of course the electric piano with phaser on it (barely existed in

Love that '69 version of Ruby Tuesday! Sounds fantastic with the '69 singing style, punchy Let It Bleedish drums and Nicky's piano. Anyone managed to download and process the non-MSG live tracks? I got the MSG ones from the Buy/Sell/Trade thread ( ) but got no download of the others.

QuoteSpud Some players are also gear heads and/or guitar collectors/anoraks ... but for others the guitar is just a tool of the trade. MT has never been a guitar nerd or collector. If you're him, and can easily borrow free of charge the best instruments available...why keep tens and even hundreds of thousands of pounds tied up in old guitars ? I know Mick Jagger commented this

By chance, I stumbled on this Mick Taylor interview in Classic Rock Magazine. It's great and focuses mostly on his time with the Stones 1969-1974.

The recordings may not be new, but they are quite listenable and I enjoyed hearing them very much today. It's a laid back rehearsal, but the band definitely sounds well-oiled and groovy, and not at all rusty. Can You Hear The Music is pretty cool with some nice Mick Taylor leads. Angie is great as usual, and Star Star is swinging, with great leads from both Keith and Mick T. Shine A Li

Love both '72 and '73, but by '73 they were just slightly over the top with the glam, distorted guitars, Taylor noodling (though I love most of it), Mick jumping around in his eye shadow ... the '72 tour has more "roots" in it, a bit more of the blues left intact (Love In Vain, Sweet Virginia, etc.), and appears more graceful and controlled in a way.

Quoteblivet I was never wild about bands having logos. It seemed too corporate to me, and in my opinion an official logo also placed a needless restriction on album cover design, back when that was more of a thing. "Cheap Trick" in the same presentation on every record, just to pick an example out of the air, just seemed kind of, I don't know, stifled. I've always loved

Quote24FPS Quotepaulspendel You’d be surprised if you didn’t have such a limited view. There’s a niche outthere of very wealthy collectioneurs. Like the chap who buys Brian’s guitars. They don’t post on boards, but silently buy stuff, take it home and just look at it. Like Charlie looks at his old timers he can’t drive. The ones you call idiots. I call them that for a reason. They are idiots. A

QuoteSpud QuoteLieB I'm not an audio archivist, but in all fairness, if the digital copy of an old tape is really well done in very high resolution, it's a practical format to archive. You still have to store it somewhere (and no storage lasts infinitely) but once digital, the music can be duplicated lossless any number of times. An old tape deteriorates with time and takes more effo

QuoteHonkeyTonkFlash QuoteTheflyingDutchman '72 was a very powerful tour. It was indeed. But I gotta say the official audio release of the Ladies and Gentlemen soundtrack should have sounded way better with today's technology.. Maybe it's just me but to my ears it just sounds thin and trashy. It should at least sound as good as Ya Yas. To my ears it doesn't. I like the perf

QuoteHis Majesty Quotemarianna I'm not a fan. There's something off-putting about it (maybe the costumes and the setting). Also, it has Yoko whining and screaming. I have the DVD and don't see the need for a new copy or to see it in a theater. Cold, empty and forced. Rather than the free flowing energetic, raucous stones of before, there's too much posing and forced cool

Wow, that's harsh. We have talked about the Stones and their drugs for years. Is it still okay to discuss Keith's heroin use in the 70s?

"Is it normal procedure for the Stones to drive between concerts?" "No, as a matter of fact, Keith Richards had indicated in Memphis yesterdays that he had never been in the state of Arkansas, and always touristed in the United States, and he wanted to drive from Memphis to Dallas to sightsee the state of Arkansas." Right! Without getting stuck in airport customs.

Quotelem motlow It’s funny to me to see a 5 page thread (and counting)on the cover of Black and Blue. I’m gonna consider this thread my answer to those who kept asking me “why do you care so much about the damn cover art” when I complained nonstop about the completely unimaginative and lame cover of Blue and Lonesome. The package means a lot, whether it’s a small icon next to a click for a downl

Could very well be something like that. Maybe Jagger and company thinks "Okay, let them do what they want with those old '65 shows, but we're not giving them Banquet or Let It Bleed". Pure speculation on my part, of course. It doesn't really make sense either.

Quotetreaclefingers Quotenick The Yaya's and Charlie deluxe boxes were not bad. What happened with TSMR and BB? On a positive note, you appreciate your 2002 SACD and Mono box titles a lot more. there have been some excellent abkco releases of late. this isn't one of them. I wouldn't call Ya-Ya's excellent – theoretically, they could have made a 4+ CD box with lots of stu

QuoteHis Majesty It's easier for 'The Beatles' because the majority of their work took place in the same studio etc and they don't have the same hassles about rights and so on. Yes, that's definitely a reason. The actual studios don't matter that much, but contractually, the former Beatles are in an easier situation, I guess.

Terrible. If they don't have anything good to release – don't release it – we already have it. It's just embarrassing. And as if it was the 60s all over again, The Beatles are out-deluxing them completely with the new 2018 edition of the White Album: "CDs four, five and six will contain 50 additional studio outtakes, mostly previously-unreleased, from the White Album ses
