QuoteHowever, you figure that the money was made on bootlegs within a year or two of their release so they are already satisfied. ... which to some extent holds true with official releases as well, which is why I'm not a supporter of long copyright periods. Sure, a band like the Stones are still making money off of Stick Fingers, which I'm not denying them, especially since they are s

Quoteswimtothemoon Quotedrwatts Quotenellcote'71 An' I think I needah blood traaansfuuusion... This interview/video is a graphic reminder of how close, during the mid seventies, we were to losing Keith. For example, a big difference between Keith of 1974 and Keith of 1981. We can all thank Nils Lofgren for telling Keith to not go.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotebrownsugar86 First time I've logged in here for years & rather than wading through 262 pages I Wonder if anyone would tell me if Mick T would of seen any money at all for the Goats Head Reissue? Even if it's just for them using his image, as he's in some of the photos advertised for it all over the media... Why wouldn't he? He plays on it.

QuoteTravelinMan QuoteLieB The flute is hilarious! Good decision to cut the "solo" from the original release. By the way, wasn't Fast Talking from the GHS sessions? Shouldn't it have been included here? Really? Haha, I actually like it a lot. There is some speculation that Fast Talking is from IORR sessions. Well, I only heard it once so far, but my spontaneous react

So finally got my GHS Deluxe and I gotta agree it's their best deluxe/outtakes project so far. Making a remix was a great idea, especially in place of a re-release of the original album. I always thought it was annoying that we had to buy Exile, SG and Sticky once more just to get the outtakes, and I've always thought they should do it like Dylan (and many others) and make a proper h

Fantastic! I recognize this one: Either I've seen it before, or it's just real similar to another professional photo. It's Mick Taylor's pose and shirt that I recognize.

After hearing Scarlet a few times, I must say I quite like it. I agree it doesn't sound totally like a Stones song ... it has some very Stonesy elements, most of all the vocals and rhythm guitar, melody ... but the drums and bass aren't anywhere near Charlie and Bill. Maybe if they had put some reverb on the drums and make 'em sound more like on Slave or something from GHS it wo

Quotedcba Quoteexilestones Great pic! Btw... have you noticed the marks (more like craters) on Keef's arm? Those marks are probably from "skin popping" heroin (or cocaine), which is a way of injecting the drug into the outer tissues of the arm as opposed to intravenous use. Gives a slower high, and from what I've read can cause scars like that. Supposedly, Keith used to

It's an interesting song...does sound like a new Mick vocal, at least in the beginning. I agree that it's similar to Tops in the bridge. I'll definitely listen to this more. You Should Have Seen Her Ass deserves a release for sure, hopefully a good mix of it!

QuoteErik_Snow Yes, the bonus material is what's interesting, not any "new remaster". But I don't feel I need these new "vault releases" on vinyl, as they are not like an ancient part of history like them original LPs. And they sound just like the CD releases. They are also "collectors items" allready when being put to the market and that doesn't mak

I also noted that. Probably nonsense, as is some other "facts" like Richards was in the throes of cocaine addiction; Mick Taylor had sensationally walked out in the middle of th

Agreed that Black And Blue and Emotional Rescue sound better than Some Girls. Funny, because Some Girls has better songs on it. I also agree that Tattoo You was done really well. It sounds great and has great songs on it. That's why I like it more than SG these days.

I agree that it's a cool band (I love their album) and a nice rendition of UMT, but I can see where the negativity is coming from too. Blind Faith never took off the way Clapton hoped for. Specifically on the day of the Hyde Park show, according to himself in his autobiography, Clapton was "out of it" because he was upset about the fact that Ginger took heroin before the show. (

QuoteRoss A Tele with a Strat neck. I din't recall seeing him play that guitar anywhere except that Hyde Park gig, any other footage of that ax? He did play it with Blind Faith in Helsinki 1969 at least. Which was in December, so obviously after Hyde Park. More pics and info: Overall, he used a very cool collection of guitars on the Blind Faith tour: ES-335, Firebird, Tele, LP,

That lovely Plundered My Soul video on youtube includes some great CS Blues (Robert Frank) footage that is not in the CS Blues movie, so apparently that was accessible to some extent. But who knows, Robert Frank may have been better than Rolling Stones Records (or whoever) at keeping his film rolls in shape.

As far as I recall from various sources, Keith was supposedly very sad after losing the guitars, but indeed, they probably didn't want to involve the police or authorities for obvious reasons (they had other more serious issues with the courts and all in '72 in the aftermath of the Nellcote period). Voluntarily walking into a police station wasn't exactly among Keith's routine

I think I read somewhere that Joe Perry said he was an "old school republican" but is skeptical about their then current affairs. I think this may have been even before Trump.

It's fun with the speculation and detective work, but all in all, the whole thing leaves me feeling a bit disappointed that the Stones and Abkco can't make better archive releases out of all this. Sure, many tracks we've heard before and many tracks are throw-away, but there's obviously plenty of stuff to make a few "bootleg series" releases á la Dylan or at least so

QuoteNikkei QuoteHis Majesty 1969 is the starting point. No one has yet proven it isn't from 1969. I have musically been studying Brian for about 30 years. It is absolutely not him playing piano on this RT. The piano has various signatures that Nicky often played. Similar with Charlie in relation to 1968/69. That's being dogmatic, but I guess it can happen if you study the sam

QuoteNikkei There is next to no cash to be made here. Their attitude towards Abcko is purely based on principle and in my opinion they are absolutely right. This company always was a sore pimple on the buttocks of the record industry. You might be right there. But as was mentioned above, we the fans are the ones losing out. Strange though that they did release the Ya-Ya's box back in 20

QuoteTornandfrayed QuoteNasty Habits To me most of the live tracks don't sound like soundboard recordings. In fact they sound like they are the first gen tapes of the shows that have been circulating on bootleg, Ft Collins and Miami for example sounds exactly the same as the copies that I've had for years. MSG 27th sounds like the audience mic source that they used for the recording
