QuoteGazza [At one show (cant remember of it was a Stones show or not), someone behind me saved me the bother by throwing a plastic bottle filled with a suspiciously coloured liquid, scoring a direct hit on her smug kisser and knocking her off. Needless to say, they got the message. Now THAT would be worth $100 for a ticket........

In her book, "I'm with the Band", Pamela Des Barres (who I always thought was, at the very least, a reference-point for StarStar) talks quite a bit about how "good" Jimmy Page was. I've always assumed (probably wrongly) that the "quite the rage" line had something to do with Ms. DesBarres' opinion.

The Gershwin disc is nice, I also like the Rodgers/Hammerstein Songbook she did. If I'm not mistaken she did a whole set of "songbooks" on Verve. Absolutely one of the greatest American vocalists of the 20th century. You almost can't go wrong buying anything in her catalog.

Quoteduke richardson top 5 guitarists I'd like to see: kind of a TDWR list (talent deserving wider recognition) Kenny Vaughn Bill Kirchen Will Kimbrough Charlie Sexton Bill Kirchen is a cool pick. Saw him (and band) in a small club a couple of year ago. Fantastic! His "Have Guitar, Will Travel" is a good disc. Dave Alvin

I saw two shows in '78: Philly stadium, and Cleveland stadium. Both were kinda ragged and not-so-good. The big difference nowadays is the consistency of the performances. In 78 (and probably 81/82 as well), it was somewhat hit-or-miss with what kind of show you got. All the 90s-00s shows I've seen have been remarkably consistent in the level of performance. Sometimes the "Veg

QuoteStonesTod Quotesteel driving hammer I'm still thinking about that aud recording vs. pea soup theory... try eating thick pea soup while MAKING an audience recording. very few successful attempts have been made at that... Especially if you take Linda Blair along with you to the show. It's enough to make you jump out the window....

QuoteWorriedAboutYou One of the most overrated "musicians" in history. Terrible guitarist, horrific singer, and clumsy, mawkish, juvenile lyricist. Some people (not me of course) say the same things about JT's idol, Keith Richards....

QuoteDoxa 1. "If You Can't Rock Me": Early sign of "by numbers". You could maybe say this about the whole album, but an excellently apt description of IYCRM. Several classic tracks make this an important Stones album to me: IORR : The "woo-yeah" Jagger does before the little three-note KR solo, and the solo itself, still make me jump up and vigoursly

Quotedcba Saw MBV here in the U.S. They gave us ear plugs when they took our tickets. They were so loud I could literally feel the air moving from the sound. The physical assault of the volume made my wife sick to her stomach (the vodka tonics beforehand probably didn't help) and we had to leave during "You Made Me Realise". One of the weirdest concert experiences I'

I saw Joan a couple of summers ago here in central Virginia, US at an outdoor show. It was an extremely hot humid evening, and out comes Joan,head-to-toe in leather and heavy makeup, and absolutely rocked the place. She started-out with the Runaways' "Cherry Bomb", played all of her solo hits and covered the Stooges ("I Wanna Be Your Dog") and the Pistols. By about the
