If U2 is only after having the highest grossing tour they can easily do it with the current tour or the many ones to likely come in the future. If they don't break the record with the scheduled gigs they simply append a few more. The Stones might have one more chance to top the grossing charts, but I highly doubt it. They oversaturated the market for decades. Had the ticket prices during the

QuoteHaristone Michael Jackon made a record of his own. HE SOLD THE SHOWS. AND THAT IS A FACT. Yes, because he was the only one crazy enough to play one and the same venue 50 times (except for those vegas acts like Celine Dion and Elton John). Most artists won't do something like that because it is too boring. But that doesn't mean nobody else is be capable of filling the O2 areana 50

Jackson sold out 50 shows, because he - repeatedly said "This is it" so everybody knew this was their last chance to see him perform live. And everybody took this statement seriously as MJ was in such a fragile physical state. - the ticket prices were pretty low (as compared to the prices the Stones are charging) - he hadn't toured for 12 years!! If he had announced a world

QuoteTantekäthe I can not imagine anything worse than Cologne 2006. Ronnie Wood was completely out of it and produced nothing but blatant noise (and he was high in the mix..). Keith Richards could not be bothered, he delivered a lick here and a hook there, otherwise he was just posing and mugging, and his guitar performance in "Sympathy" (which was the usual bore, btw) was just atrociou

Yes, the Bremen version is just unreal. They must have been on steroids that day. But I think the 89/90 versions are superb as well.

But it says the Stones were top earners from June 2006 - June 2007 with $88 mio. However, in June 2007 the European tour just began so it isn't included in this figure, or at least only partially. Isn't that the old figure which went through the media before they begun the 2007 European Tour? Many news articles reported this figure at the end of 2006. I guess they must have broken the $500 mio. barrier with the ABB tour, haven't they? I guess the Guiness book is not that up to date...

C'mon Gazza, dont you agree with me? Despite all the negativity towards the Stones I must admit that the Stones are my driving musical force in my life! I listen to them about 90% of the time. I can't put in words how much I enjoy their music! I am 24 years old and it's been 9 years since I discovered the Stones thanks to my dad. I just LOVE them! I really do...

The Stones are a PHENOMENON. They are not only a band, they are a lifetyle. Nobody will ever come close to them. That's a fact. Even if the Beatles had existed until today the Stoney would be the bigger live act. One day, when the Stones won't exist exist anymore we will eventually realize how incredible huge they were. The Stones set a milestone in music and touring history!

That's of course the BEST indicator for tour attendance. The problem with Zep and Pink Floyd etc. although they sold millions and millions of albums they are still not as famous as the Beatles or the Stones are.

Thanks George. However I found this on Wikipedia: "Multi-disc albums released after 1981 whose total length is at least 100 minutes count one for each disc in these figures, which accounts for the many double (or more) albums in the list. For multi-disc albums released before 1982, there is no length requirement." But Hot Rocks was released before 1982, so the 100min. rule doesnt co

I still don't get it...did Hot Rocks sell 12 mio units, because sales were multiplied by x2 (so effectively only 6 mio. units)? Or did it really go 12 mio times over the counter?
