Voodoo Lounge all the way for me (although I didn't see them in 89/90). The sound was better and they played better than during the Licks or BTB shows.

Hot stuff was always over rated in my opinion. Out of the Black and Blue funky numbers, I think Hey Negrita is a far better song which they should play live nowadays. SInce Ron effectively wrote it, he shouldn't play too badly on it either!

How can anyone not remember Dudley Moore? He was one of the greatest comedy geniuses ever (as part of Pete & Dud or Derek and Clive). I think Mick turned up to the premier of the Derek and CLive film Get The Horn. For those who haven't seen it, one review of the films puts it as... "The film is by and large a torrent of swearing, drunken verbal abuse, and generally obnoxiou

Is the 3.53 version on Virgin/Sony CD release the same as the longer version on the original MC release?

Nice one Doxa! But does anyone know what the sponsership deals are worth? What would interest me is if the sponsorship deals would cover most of the costs of putting the show on the road, because then the boys would be raking it in.

The gross figure is meaningless anyway. What matters is net profit and profit margin! Now I bet those figures aren't quite as easy to get hold of! Do the gross figures include the sponsorship deals and how much are they worth?

Davido, I disagree with some of your post about it not being physical. I have known several people, including relatives, who were addicted to alcohol one way or another. (My brother still is addicted and has recently been tagged for drink driving, and has caused all sorts of problems at home.) I agree that there are people who are phsycologically addicted (I probably am) but I have def

She's on Country Honk, I believe. I also had thought it was the English actress, which I always thought strange. (In the UK, she is now most famous for her washing up liquid adverts). I assumed that she was just mates with the band and was hanging around at the right time and joined in (a bit like Anita on Sympathy for the Devil). However, this new information on a canadian singer

I like the ones which show a sense of humor, for example: Neighbours (bloke sawing up a woman), Too Much Blood (the crap 1980's effects and Keef running after MIck with a chainsaw), She Was Hot (farting flames and Rons rubber guitar), and even Undercover of the Night (which I know was meant to be political, but I find it funny seeing Keith in that mask and Mick taking it a bit too seriously

The funny thing with the licks tour was that the Stadium set list was very bad compared with previous tours. OK so you got a good set list at the club gigs, and a slightly better setlist at arena gigs, but I liked previous tours (VL and BT where they played a few different numbers at the staiums. Why Midnight Rambler is unsuitable for a stadium is beyond me! So my wish list for stadiums woul

This was really ahead of its time when it first came out. I seem to remember that my own computer had nowhere near enough memory to run it so I had to get some more. If you think about it, this was probably the first interactive video game about a real band. The soundtrack was mostly re-maixes of the VL singles. I seem to remember that you could have a piss next to Keith or sit on the Ver

Ronnie is totally bold and he can't grow hair for toffee. His wig is made from a camel's bum-fluff.

I already have a Fender Bassman 50 head which does give me a KILLER tone. I also have a Gibson Goldtone amp which gives a brilliant tone in a small package. However, I would still like to get something a bit closer to the SVT sound but in an easy to carry combo. From what Mathijs says, it sounds like there is nothing perfect at the moment. Thanks anyway - but I'll keep my eyes posted.

On a slightly different note, I wonder if anyone can think of an amplifier that can produce those early 70s Ampeg SVT tones, but that comes in a small package. For example, I am looking for a 50W combo which can produce the sound of the late 60s / early 70s Stones and Faces. I have tried out various vintage and new amplifiers, including the original SVT's, HiWatts, Fender Twins and Bluesma

OpenG, Why do you say that they can't play that way? They don't play that way because of all the backing musicians. By all reports, Ronnie has proved that he can still play recently, and we know that Keith can, when he can be bothered. If you put the boys on stage without all the backup musicians, they would still play a hard rocking set all the way through, just like they do on

You're right, I'm hard put to find a song on the licks tour where either one of them played a single note, what with Ronnie running up and down the stage pulling clown faces, and Keith posing the whole time

One thing has been missed here. Ron was the only guitarist in the Faces and had a way of playing rythm and lead at the same time. It is very different playing with another guitarist to playing with a keyboard player. I also think that Keith plays rythm and lead at the same time (i.e. he doesn't just play straight chords but does alot of ebelishing). This can go 2 ways - they can either &

I don't care how many Keith songs are on the album, just as long as they choose the best songs - period. And I like Keith singing soulful country ballads. HCIS and TITN were highlights of BTB.

My friend did, but he ordered all the components from a mail order company. (e.g. WD Music) He got all the parts (e.g. body / neck / machine heads etc) and basically fitted them together himself. He painted it his own colour (I think he got a profesional car painter to do it!) and even got some fender transfers to make it look like an original. This way, he got a top notch equivalent of a f

I remember reading an interview with Woody in (I think) Guitarist Magazine where he said that guitar solos are a thing of the past. I think this was about the time of Bridges to Babylon. I'll leave it to others to interpret this.

I think you're confusing record labels with places, which I do all the time. Just the other day, I got on the No. 7 bus to go to Atlantic, but ended up on the Virgin islands. It was only when the bus got to London that I realised I had accidentally got on the No. 8 to Columbia! I felt really stupid. (The London Hot Rocks was the North American release. The UK release was on Decca.)

I saw it at Stade de France too. They did it with Mick on real harmonica, the boys + Chuck + Bobby Keys : no gimmics. It was short and sweet and much more bluesy than other live versions I have heard. It was more like the versions played on the 78 tour than any other. I was right up at the B stage for that gig but the sound wasn't too good for some reason.

Fallen Angels was the name of Gram Parson's band when he toured America in 1973. Check out the CD - it comes very highly recommended. Of course, I'm sure your CD will be just as good...

I really hope they don't have a B stage on the next tour. It is now an old idea and they should do something else instead. I think there should be a stripped down or acoustic section of the show, though, and I would like the following Acoustic: Prodigal Son No Expectations Dear Doctor Sweet Virginia (with only Keith doing backing vox) Stripped Down (just the boys + piano + sax)

Did Keith say it sounds like Exile or that they are working on it like they did with Exile. I think it is more likely this is what he means (without having read the original article).

From observation of Stones songs that disco's and clubs tend to play (i.e. not from a Stones fan point of view): Sympathy - now this always packs out the dance floor - how can you NOT dance on hearing the samba intro? Paint it Black - sometimes works, depending on audience Brown Sugar - Good for "chicken dancing" as I call it Satisfaction - It is the Stones most famous
