<I think it's unquestionable that HD is an album that puts more emphasis on melody and melodic variation than the Stones did in the past> On some songs, yes. Bite My Head Off, Dreamy Skies, Live By The Sword, Driving Me Too Hard, Tell Me Straight, Sweet Sounds Of Heaven and Rolling Stone Blues are pretty standard Stones, imo. Get Close, too. That's 8 out of 12 songs. «Incidenta

QuoteRollingFreak Quotemjmjr QuoteVoodooLounge13 Really loving Wanting and Waiting. To me it’s better than anything on HD!! It’s got more soul. It rocks. And it sounds authentic. Anyone know who the new lead guitarist is? The video is pretty great too. You can't be serious I believe it. HD was really not good. This doesn't sound revolutionary, but it at least sounds like what

QuoteRobertJohnson QuoteMathijs QuoteStonedRambler Quotehockenheim95 Keith is VERY loud in the mix I honestly don't get the fuzz about the 2002-2003 tour. Keith is more focused on his moves than on his playing and Ronnie seems drunk and unfocused as well. Mick and Charlie deliver though - as always. Well, that's it really. Mick and Charlie delivering great setlists in small ve

More like one-dimensional knitting On a serious note, I know that rhythm means different things for different people. I respect that. However, imo Taylor adds to Keith's rhythm playing in both cases. Take away Keith's rhythm tracks and you don't have a rhythm guitar, you have single string syncopated licks (which fit perfectly to Keith's guitar, though).

Quoteliddas Other examples of great Taylor rhythm work can be found on Stray Cat Blues from ya yas and Shelter from Brusselles Affaire. The line he plays when Stray Cat goes to the A chord just before the chorus, the tension that builds up and then explodes in the solo, killer stuff!! And on shelter, that greasy licks he plays to seal Jagger's verses, again great tension that prepares th

QuoteGasLightStreet I never got HONK. Should I? I have (the original) JUMP BACK. Why bother? I'm a sucker for hits comps but I avoided THE SIMIAN DISASTER in 2012. I will never be able to allow myself to get that comp. Horrible name, horrible cover and 1971- songs that are mostly on JUMP BACK. I got the cheapest CD-version for the extra live CD. Worth it!

Guess that's why we have the (brilliant) mono mix. However, I also wouldn't mind a new stereo mix with centered drums. Also would like a Let it Bleed (the song) stereo mix

Quotefrankotero I wouldn't mind hearing Get Yer-Ya-Ya's Out full concert in the same quality as those bonus tracks on the re-issue. That would bake my cake! It's been a while since I listened to the anniversary release. Are you saying that the bonus tracks were the only tracks that were mixed on that release? They sound better than the others?

So few instruments to mix (early ABKCO releases). And adding new effects on those four tracks won't really improve it either, imo. If so, they could have worked with the latter releases, like BTB, TSMR, BB or LIB, but they already sound good.

Is it an extended mix of the record? Steel drums are louder and many more Nicky Hopkins fills. An early mix with less backing vocals?

Quoteloog droog Quotebakersfield Break The Spell, filler? I respectfully disagree. A terrific, atmospheric blues and one of the highlights of SW for me. I agree. And I'll repeat my suggestion for anyone compiling a Stones mix: Do a segue from the Let It Bleed version of "Midnight Rambler" to "Break The Spell." A marvelous continuation of the mood of the first,

QuoteBjorn Finally I got my vinyl. I love the record, but WTF? There´s no power there. I have to turn my receiver up to 6 or 7 to play it loud. Eurythmics from 1984 sounds better. Not to mention the Rod Stewart albums from the eighties... There's been lots of complaints about the vinyl release. I have the cd, which sounds great.
