I got the Squier Cabronita w/Bigsby from Guitar Center for $200 US cuz it had a dent in the back. I swapped out all of the components and it is a dream guitar! I love it. I'm often finding Squier necks are built better than MIM Fenders and some US models!

Quote1962 It's 2014 It's The Rolling Stones! Who cares about a new abum? I do! I mean, we've been getting basically the same show since 1990 with some minor changes to the set list. I last saw them on the 50th in Brooklyn and NJ and I really don't know what purpose going to see them again will serve if it's going to be basically the same show we've been getting f

Hello all, The band I jam with has decided to cover Band on the Run. Frankly, I never had much use for Macca since Revolver but I'm developing a deep appreciation for his Wings stuff. Can y'all point me in the direction of some of his best solo "rockers"? Heavy guitar songs. I have recently acquired Band on the Run, Venus, and Speed and sorting my through them now. I kn

Hello all, Sorry if this has been addressed (to death). I read in Stones Gear that BW claims Ry Cooder played on the album version of Prodigal Son. I looked for the quote in his Blues Odyssey book but I couldn't find it (I didn't look that hard). It's always been obvious to me that there are 2 (at least) guitar tracks on the BB cut but I never heard that Ry was the 2nd guitaris

Being really blasted at my fist show in 78. I only remember bits and pieces. That was their last great tour in my mind. They were still really raggety then. My other regret is continuing to go see them expecting a return to their pre-Steel Wheels live sound. I see them every time they come round hoping they will play heavier but it just seems to get less edgier. Quite bland really when compar

Hello all, After a month or so with this book, I must say that I am more in love with this book than ever! Up until a week or so ago, I had been skimming, scanning, glancing, skipping around, trying to pin point certain facts etc.. I am now actually "reading" the book. It's crazy how much I have learned. I thought I knew a lot but this book has so much to offer. To those wh

He cant hit those notes. He hasnt been able to since 1980. I believe it was a result of coming off of smack. His voice got deeper, hair changed , wrinkles...basically he caught up with himself Some people who have been a long time users of opiates find theiir bodies change significantly after they stop. Some find that the drug slows down the aging process and it catches back up Listen to T

Hello all, I posted this message on "Hot Stuff" as well. A friend of mine insists that there is an outtake of Brown Sugar with the acoustic guitar high up in the mix. She said that there is only 1-2 electric guitars playing but they are really low in the mix. According to her, this is supposedly the session where KR put on the acoustic track in 1969/70 Anyone aware of this version?

Hello all, Yup.........digging into the vaults on this one. I'm talking about the version from Place Pigalle "Munich Hilton Take 1" ..It's the instrumental version. Runs about 11:56 I'm trying both standard and open-G tunings: The first 1-3 seconds of the riff is pretty basic. After that is where I get lost. It's when he slides up the frets and then to end the

Thank you Mathijs! My questions are mostly amp related. Not sure if they are pertinent. I'm interested to learn if the white Ampegs are still around and what mods were performed on them (if any) I'm curious how Woody biases his amps. I'm interested to learn what mods (if any) Mick makes to his amps. I've noticed his electric guitar sounds are hotter than the oth

Hello all, I'm trying to play Time is On My Side without using an F7 on the bridge/spoken part. My arthritis makes it hard to barre chords on the first 3 frets and it doesn't sound right on the 8th (A) or the 13th (E), nor does playing a normal F give you the right feel Any help would be appreciated. As I play the song picking and strumming, I'd love to get some open strings

QuoteMingSubu After being a little bummed at first, I'm really diggin' this book. I didn't know that it was going to be this much history. Basically a Stones history book with a very heavy emphasis on the instruments. Looking at it from this perspective, it's amazing!!! I find it very interesting on which amps they were using in the early days. Jumping back and forth be

Hello all, I've had the book for about a week. I can't put it down! Fabulous. The historical writing is nice as it put things into context. One must remember, I don't think Andy B was writing just for Stones "experts". While we may find some of this information redundant, there are many many people to whom the information is new. A few things standing out for me are:

Bill's books had errors and ommissions too. None us was "there" so no one knows the full story. This book is about as good as it's going to get in terms of something like thi
