Hi! When "UNDERCOVER" was released I bought both the LP and the MC (Cassette/Tape). To my astonishment I soon found out that Keith´s little rock´n roller "Want To Hold You" had an extra verse on the MC. I searched for my cassette the other day but couldn´t find it, so I had to listen to my vinylversion with one verse less. I wonder if any of my fellow Stones fans has discover

Solomon Burke, Make Do With What You Got Kitty Empire Sunday February 27, 2005 The Observer Solomon Burke Make Do With What You Got (Sony BMG) Veteran soul man Solomon Burke leapt out of the nostalgic past into the present with 2002's Grammy-bagging Don't Give Up On Me. A track from Marianne Faithful´s new album can be listened to for free on the jukebox at the www.anti.com. It´s a nice one! On the same juebox you will find free music from a lot of interesting artists: Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Black Keys, Daniel Lanois, Solomon Burke and a lot of others. If you look into the Marianne Faithful-section you will find several new interviews. The 60s and the Stones sure

Even though I appreciated it (especially the guitars) at the time, I don´t think the 81-82 version of Let´s Spend the Night Together had much of the charm and magic of the original. I reckon the original of 1965 as a well-crafted classic pop-song. Next time you listen to it, pay some attention to the following nice details: - the intro: nice piano/backing-vocal - Jagger´s young, nasal, sensual

A fresh Mojo-interview with Marianne Faithful can be read here: Besides her life and career as a recording artist, she also talks about Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Oldham the manager, and Bob Dylan. Cheers, Gunnar

This weekend I saw the film "Ray", a beautiful dramatization on Ray Charles, his music and his life. Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles was tremendous. I was deeply moved, and want to recommend this to my fellow Stones-fans, especially for two reasons: 1) It was directed by Taylor Hackford, well-known for his work with the Stones/Keith Richards. 2) Ray Charles transcended so many different

Thank you for your answer, Bjørnulv! Hopefully your investments will pay-off in more subscribers. This is pure quality! I deeply recommend readers of this forum to make a subscription. Cheers, Gunnar PS! I am still curious about what kind of acoustic guitar Keith Richards is playing on the photo...

What a great covershot! I am overwhelmed by the efforts of the editor of this magazine. Thank you! I have two questions though that I would be very grateful if my fellow Stones-fans could help answer: 1. Where and when is this photo taken 2. What kind of acoustic guitar is Keith Richards playing on the photo? Is it one of his old Martin guitars (which he quite often talks about, but which I h

Not much news in the following link , but Mick Jagger is making the headlines again. I am glad Jagger won and hopefully it will inspire his further work this year. It could be a very, very good year for Stones-fans. Cheers, Gunnar

I think Mathijs points towards something really interesting about Keith Richards - the guitarist. His image and playing style indicates pure instinct, but of course it is based on practice, rehearsals and experience. His organic and ever changing patterns should not hide the fact that through the years Mr. Richards has learned a lot and knows a lot about scales and music theory, even though he wo

Thank you for your responses. I appreciate them all, but I think both Rorty and Rocky Dijon go straight to my point as far as the particular songs on Exile are concerned. Make no mistake about it, from the very first single and album and up to "Old Habits", Jagger´s voice has never stopped fascinating and impressing me. His performance on such different songs as Worried about you, Nei

I just listened to some records by Otis Redding and Eddie Hinton (white late soul singer) and I came to think about Jagger´s energetic and desperate vocal performance on the Exile tracks "Rocks Off" (at the end "I only get my rocks off while I´m dreamin´"), "Rip this Joint"(the whole song through) and "All down the line" ("Won´t you be my little baby

Even though I really love some of Mick Jagger´s solorecordings, it always strikes me that the Stones would have done this far better. There is one exception though; Evening Gown from Wandering Spirit. I think it is a perfect recording of a beautiful song. The band (the piano, the acoustic guitar, the steelguitar and drums) sounds just great, and Jagger´s singing is (once again) unique. Chee

Records of the Year The editors of Rolling Stone magazine pick the top fifty albums and Live Licks is on the list. The magazine comments: "At last: an official Stones live album that makes up for the sorry excuses of the past three decades. The greatest hits snap and snarl with renewed authority, and the deep set-list archaeology on Disc Two -- "Neighbours," "Monkey Man
