I believe it was Mick Taylor's call to play Brown Sugar at Altamont. They had just come off practising it at Muscle Shoal about 50 times.....not a bad version either. I have no idea why Satisfaction is not included on the original Ya Ya's.....it was the band's best live song on that Tour.....bewildered. Esky

I knew I could count on you OpenG ! But seriously, everyone will say Gimme Shelter or Love In Vain etc..., but for pure note playing, I reckon there's not too many guitarists on the planet that can play that solo as smooth as Mick does....

I have to say it must be Street Fighting Man from 1969 (Ya Ya's version). Listen to the finger movements just before the last verse - incredibly quick!!! Any clown can play a million notes flickering around the fret-board, but on this occasion Taylor just plays an amazingly quick blues riff that knocks your socks off !!! Esky

I reckon they do choose simple songs - they've been doing it since 1969 ! If some songs don't sound good on stage then they'll drop it. And more often than not, the hard-to-play songs get dropped. Look at You Got Me Rocking, it's not warhorse but gets played every show !!! This is an easy song to play and the band love doing it. Look at Monkey Man - why do you think it

Yes !! And I think everyone has answered the question! The Stones will always get crowds all over the world...no matter how shit they play, and no matter how long they play for, and no matter how relevant they are ! That's what pisses me off....high ticket prices for a sub-standard performance....but they are guaranteed cash of course...!

Robbie Williams should take a leaf out of the Stones : charge incredibly high ticket prices, hire musicians who are old and can hardly hit the right note, and only play for just under 2 hours.... He'll still get his cash !

I accept high ticket prices ! They are fine as long as the entertainment you are paying for performs to that high price. What I don't accept are bands who charge too much for tickets when they don't perform to that price! Esky

I have only heard a few mp3 samples of this SM source and it is ALOT better than the recently unearthed MSG '72 shows. I rate the sound of the mp3 samples just below Charlotte '72 - which I rate as the best aud. recording from 1972. We'll wait and see.... Esky

Hi all, Can someone confirm that the FBB performance of "Six Days On The Road" from the Gimme Shelter movie is in fact dubbed from their album "Hot Burrito" ? To me it sounds identical... What makes it more interesting is that I have a Flying Burrito Bros live CDr with a bonus track of "Six Days" and it sounds quite rough - and I'm sure I can hear Sam C

It's an average song, and an average Album opener. However, it's a mystery as to why it hasn't been played since the Euro '73 Tour !! Afterall, you'd think the band rated it back in 1973 for it to be the first song on GHS.

Keith's solo during Under My Thumb is amazing....you will not here anything like it - either on the 1969 Tour - or after ! In fact, I dare say this is his last true solo he ever plays (am I going too far?) - not the chuck-berry stuff solo - but true blues (that & Sympathay). Carried Away Esky. Chris - yes I am drunk but not too bad
