This isn't such a bad song. Just heard a live version, and I get the riff, much better now. Hypnotic. Makes me wish more songs from ABB had gotten a hardcore live workout. ABB is recorded/produced pretty badly. But this song, and 'Streets of Love' got lightyears better on stage.

Who would have thought that at this stage of the game Keith would step up, and start slaying it on Bass.

I think the Stones did really, really well with bringing Andy Watt into the fold. Their sound has been updated in a clever way; not forced. IMO it's okay that Lady G, has the bigger moments of the song. I am a little surprised how little Steve Jordan is mentioned in all of this, b/c the mix is a logic continuation from Keith's solo albums. (without Keith even being involved in this one

I also think that B2B is one of their very best albums. Certainly the best of the late era. They took it on the road and played the hell out of it too.

I always like these mega pop queens. From Madonna, to Whitney, from Lady Gaga to Miley; and Taylor. They are obviously bringing something huge to millions. Twice in last weeks I woke up to a pop song, where I'm thinking "this is actually pretty intriguing'. Both times it was Taylor, 'Antihero' and 'Karma'. On a negative note, it made me want to check out Spo

I got a Masterbilt, 'Loretta Lynn' a while back. Had to wait over a year. Fantastic guitar. I have to say that there are times Epiphones can match the big names for much less $.

I thought that was a good interview. Jagger has a healthy overview of it all; time, technology, his band. I like that. There is clarity. He barely squeezed that word 'partnership' out, when talking about Keith, haha.. But he did say it. He has talked a lot about Keith re. the new album. And he fielded that probing question really well. The one about his peers passing on. I also liked

Quoteliddas Thank you, some good ones! In the Honolulu pic at page 8, is Mick playing a guitar or is it the microphone stand? C That is a crazy looking shot. We have never known Jagger to play guitar in their live shows in those years. Got to be the mic stand. There's a few pics from '71, and some from '72 US mixed in there.

I just love this clip so much. watching Charlie. At 2:15 when he engages the extra burner to ramp it up a bit more. And the end section, his eyes from 3:34 on, the way he's following Jagger, and then a quick glance at Keith, to make sure.

QuoteDaveG Anybody know which show this if from? It's odd. There is that bit of feedback right at "I got the wiggles in my knees" like on Ya-Ya's. And they sound so well lubed up, that it has to be the East Coast. But the way Jagger's mic stand is bopping, that looks like a low rent kind of stage. Maybe not the Garden.

Yes, I agree that on many of these tracks mentioned Brian's playing is very basic. But it is right for that track. And overall there is magic. I think for a band to bring magic, every ingredient has to be part of it. We can say that DJ is a very, very good bass player. But IMO Bill Wyman brought magic to Stones tracks within their chemistry. Which I do not get from DJ.

You surely know about this particular recording. It's one of the rare times we are able to clearly hear Brian on guitar, live-ish. Brian, and Mick Taylor are remembered for other sides of their musicianship, but both of them IMO are phenomenal rhythm guitarists.

I think this is one of the most brilliant add campaigns. I wonder who came up with the title, and the concept, of the broken glass. This is the 1st time I've seen Jagger flat-out state that the album needs to be great.

Van's catalog is a powerhouse. He is one of the world's greatest singers, and performers. There is a 30 year period or roughly 35 albums; new material every time. Stellar. Wtf is going on with Ronnie's hair-do? Lately, when I see him in pics, I say "Ok this is a weird shot". But now I realize, they're all weird.

QuoteMathijs QuoteDandelionPowderman Regarding Andrew Watt, in the music business today (at least for the last 15 years) it's normal that the producer gets song writing credits if he/she (for instance) suggests or shows a bridge that he thinks suits the song. It could be less, too. Look at today's credits: many names behind most of the songs. In the old days, this was merely the pr

In the 4 Flix DVDs there is a clip after the clubshow, when they pile into a van. They're all flushed, and pumped, and Jagger looks at Keith; then they both crack up. That to me has always been a priceless moment. There is so much in that look.

Quote24FPS A very strange album. Maybe three cuts standout. You can hear the seams where they tried to force together some cuts. You're so right. I have never heard that adjective used; 'strange' when discussing this album. But it's true. It is strange; some of the badness of the album comes from it's sketchiness. like Mel Belli said, it was the last of a certain type o

QuoteMelBelli This doesn’t seem to have been posted anywhere else, so I’ll give this thread a bump. Here’s a recent interview with Steve Lillywhite, in which he talks briefly about his experience producing “Dirty Work.” I think the best part is Lillywhite saying that he initially couldn’t understand how a producer worth his salt could’ve missed the value of “Start Me Up” before it wandered aim

QuoteRockman Under the boardwalk ----- Ibiza, Spain - August 2023 That is a promising picture. I can't imagine that Jagger would be casually balance on side of a boat if he was still nursing a painful knee injury. What a circus of a life though; what a ride it must be for Jagger to be Jagger. Look at all that commotion around him. "Ho hum, think I'll take a little ride on a

What a great thread. Because of the many excellent replies, I realize that the answer/assessment is subjective. There is no blanket statement. Loved what swiss said, and I had followed a very similar pattern, but came out of it with differing feelings. I was living in NYC during 'Some Girls' and was a Punk through and through. The Stones album was 100% embraced with us. Again, just IMO
