QuoteRobertJohnson The best track of the album and a candidate für Blue & Lonesome II. The Stones are dedicated to their founding document. In principle, the song has the quality of Prodigal Son, but the slick production bothers and disturbs me. Pop producers should not be allowed on the blues. Nevertheless 9/10. Haha, . I'm with you - I like this track, and just the thought of Jagger

Quotekeefriffhards Its ridiculous to say I'm not a Stones fan because i can't understand the new album, i remember how thrilled i was when i first played Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge, it's surely okay to be confused by the direction you see 80 year old Keith take. It's not that I'm not a Stones fan it's that this is a Jagger/ Andrew Watts solo album with Ke

Angry - IMO it is obvious, Start Me Up. Get Close - the main thing I keep hearing is a simplefied "The Ocean" by LZ. That riff, LOL Depending on U - it has the same sunniness about it like 'Loving Cup". There's a zillion credits for violas and cellos, and what we end up with from the strings could be done on a synth in a couple hours. But IMO a great track. Bite

Are you talking about the long jam; where Boz joins in? And Jagger tells the guys to do coke somewhere else?

I've decided that it is not just a good album, but probably great. And I totally understand keefriffhard's reservations. The album didn't grab me at first. I loved the idea of Andy watt, but was not convinced he got it. There is this 'modernization of sound' that A'smith did post-drugs, where there are so many huge delays and reverbs bouncing into each other; fig

Excellent album. I dont care bout song-by-song reviews. The band and Andy Watt seem genuinely excited. It shines through in all the infectious choruses over the album. Go Stones.

Some very good Bass tracks all over the album. How wild is it that Wyman comes in, and lays the best one down?

I think the sequencing of HD is excellent. In the CD age most albums are front loaded. But HD gets better as it goes on. SSOH is the obvious closer. I know I am in the minority, but I do not like that song at all. It's the only one from HD I do not like. I'd probably blame Andy watt for that. And IMO he did great on the whole album. SSOH has zero subtlety. But overall album has some r

I am starting to really like 'Angry'. It's become impossible for the Stones to please us. Exepectations, plus social media, and their history combined are crazy.

Elmo beat me to it. I immediately heard 'Hold on to your Hat' in there. But (like I said in 'Depending on U' thread) Andy Watt hears this all from a new, younger angle.

It's a really good song. And IMo it could have been another 'Torn & Frayed', or 'Evening Gown'. But there's a LOT of Bass. I still think Andy Watt was a really good choice. It's going to take some repeated listening of the album. ABB was such a brick wall mess b/c possible the Stones didn't quite understand the new technology. Andy Watt does. He seems

I'm biased but I got to say those are some very good looking fans there. Great footage on the train. I spent many nights on those trains with Rizla. The footage of Jagger, when '@#$%&' is playing is fantastic. No one even comes close. Those were his moves; he was electric.

It's a well timed thread. The Stones themselves, and all of us here on IORR move on in age. And at one point or another, you start reflecting on things. I have never seen Jagger so aware of their history. Charlie has moved on. And as a fan, I have noticed that the most valued parts of my Stones world are a few of the ancient books like the grey Dalton, or the green '75 tour book, the 78

I wonder how that works. These type deals must take a good many meetings, and in turn generate huge $ for the Stones. Does Mick then call Keith, and literally say "I think I got you another 18 Million..."

Besides it being tedious, it is also unnecessary. Waters has shown flashes of brilliance with the Floyd concepts. But this is counter productive. You beat someone over the head with a message, over-explain it, and you lose it all.

I used to be 8. But tbh some of the fun has gone out of it for me; With every single being released in color, upside down, live, remixed, Japanese, not Japanese. Also my listening direction has changed. If I listen to official stuff, it will be early, early. Otherwise, just boots.

I think us younger fans have a bigger appreciation for their latter-day stuff than the older fans. We are the ones who tend to love the more recent releases. There are exceptions on here, but most prefer the older and/or golden periods. as a younger fan i'm in total agr

I was at the MSG show. It was during a time when the music scene was very exciting. So many new great bands from UK and US. And the Stones were red hot, off of 'Some Girls'. I was also a big Return to Forever fan, and had met Stanley Clarke several times. I remember the rumor mill being very active re surprise guests. Since I was such a huge Stones fan, I didn't really care. Howe

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotemr edward Look's cool, but is the band still the main attraction of the night? I mean, Who even pays attention to the 4 tiny figures on stage. It reminds me of the orchestra's who played during movies in the 20's in the cinema's... There is a good bit of simplicity to their show, it's not all visual. Above the stage they are individually shown a

QuotePaintMonkeyManBlack QuoteGasLightStreet Bram van den Berg is doing a fanfuckingtastic job of filling in for Larry Mullen Jr. First night at The Sphere and it's amazing to see. And it's not on the whole time! It's brilliant. The spectacle has been kept in check. The band is on stage with the simplest - the absolute simplest - set up ever. The video aspect is astounding... a

I'm sitting here, drowsing, doing one of my favorite things, i.e. thinking about the Stones. And I thought about 'Dirty Work'. I guess we can say that it is widely considered one of their worst albums. But then I wondered how I would see it if this had been their first album. If a band appeared today, with this album. I think I would like it a whole lot more. I mean, 'Winnin
