Ah, Thank you rrrrronnie! Mainers come in many shapes and sizes, and some even have funny accents! But it is a unique species. We'll see how many people actually attend tonight. Can't wait! (By the way, my wife speaks fluent German, and hopes to bring me to Germany and Austria some day, so I hope to enjoy your country and its wonderful people too!)

I am delighted to see that SAL is actually playing at the new Cinemagic theater in Westbrook, Maine, starting Friday!! That's only 45 mins away from me! I'm THERE. I thought I'd have to wait for the DVD. Just assumed I'd have to drive out of state... but NO!! Gonna go see SAL TOMORROW NIGHT! Forgive me for saying I thought the soundtrack was dismal. Think I'll go

I should say, however, I AM totally looking forward to the movie... I may have quite different feelings about the cd after that...

As much as I hate to say it, I hearya on this one. The SAL soundtrack was a bit of a letdown, after all those great reviews. The sound is good, and I like a few of the never-before-on-a-live-album tracks, but the band is sloppy and the sound is definitely getting a bit boring, I must say, a bit tired. Chuck's piano-overplaying has got to be addressed and stopped. The Shattered ending is

Journey, Styx, Survivor (Eye of the Tiger), Loverboy, Foreigner, and the Scorpions all had singers that sounded alike to me, whiny, quasi-falsetto, even sappy sounding. When I was a kid, my brother and I used to race to the radio to turn it off when one of these bands came on! I don't mean to disrespect others tastes (i.e., "some of my best friends were Journey fans," heh-heh..

I'm listening to it for the first time right now, as I speak... Some Girls and Just My Imagination are really great! The horns sound really good on this, and the guitar sound is really nice and full... I'd say so far it reminds me a lot of how I felt listening to Stripped for the first time, about 13 years ago (wow!! Has it been THAT long??!!) Similar kind of intimacy in the per

Get up! Stand up! Who's gonna pay? I think R has a point about the moderates, but I also feel the moderates are not so concerned about how liberal O is. It's more the McCain hating Limbaugh crowd that now fear O more, and might be more inclined NOT to abstain from voting in Nov. BUT I DIGRESS, and shall be punished, for this is a Stones site, and if I want to talk politics I shou

There are 7 studio albums and one live album from the 67-72 period that are really great, totally worth owning all of them if you like their sound from this period. They didn't put anything out until '78 after that, and thus began a long stretch of sub-par albums, beginning with 'Octave,' which is a difficult listen. Then Mike Pinder left the band and they were never the

This isn't OT!! How DARE you put "OT" in the heading! The nerve of some people... (just kidding....) I have not heard this about Bon/ Some Girls, and would love to learn more if it's true. I've never been into the post-Bon-AC/DC, but I always liked their sound in the 70's. I didn't even know Bon Scott was a friend of the Stones...

I've thought the same thing, munichhilton, even tried it... but I noticed WS is mixed a lot louder than TIC, so even if you put them in a multi-cd changer and play on random, you have to keep running back and forth, turning it up and down, etc...... but yes, they are great together, and are both very Stonesy sounding.

You are not imagining it... It was my first Stones show too. I had arrived minutes after this happened, was wandering around the parking lot and noticed outside one of the radio broadcast there was a guitar, and a couple chairs. I asked one of the guys there, "What happened here?" and he goes: Mick Jagger was just out here ten minutes ago jamming on his harmonica with some guys."

Both movies-- Tap, and Rutles, are legendary, just brilliant. Tap toured for a while, a couple of times even. Have fun at the Rutles! If you haven't seen it yet, go see the John C. Reilly film 'Walk Hard,' which, along similar lines, is also hilarious. Especially if you've seen all the recent biopics, like Walk The Line and Ray. Walk Hard is worth it for the scene

Usually sounds more like "beebay" than baby. Especially in more recent years. Sometimes it's "bay-bay" as in, "Has anybody seeeeeeen myyyyyyy baaaay-baaaay..."

1068. Undercover
Yet another appreciation for this album... Am working late tonight and have this on. I LOVE this album!!!!!! Always have, always will. I stand by my position that it has many of the most brilliantly arranged and composed tunes they've ever done. Considering what else was happening in rock and roll in 1983, this album could have been a total disaster... but it triumphs. Great to listen t

Greenblues, 'Borrowed Tune' also sounds like Lady Jane. What's the line in it? "I'm singin' this borrowed tune, I stole from the Rolling Stones..."? You could sing "My sweet lady Jane, when I see you again..." I once played in a band that did both 'Mr. Soul' and 'Satisfaction.' We toyed with the idea of doing them back to bac

tatters, Plant was sampling LZ tunes in his solo work in 1988, the height of the hair metal era, to sell singles. I suspect it was not a hint at anything but cd sales. He does not DENY his past, I mean he admits to having a part of him that still "thinks he's 25 and wants to show off his bare chest..." but I think the artist in him has matured beyond an LZ retro-tour. -T

Bingo, Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. Plant isn't psyched about touring w/ LZ, because, for starters, his voice is not really suited for it anymore. He did well at the O2, but could he do that night after night on tour? I doubt it, not without monumental effort, anyway. And I don't see it as selfish at all that he doesn't want to tour as LZ. Think of how often he'

Good point, Greek... I could still see maybe a BBC/ PBS special, eventually released as a DVD, aired at the end of the year maybe. On the boot vid I saw, there were stage cameras everywhere. It was definitely filmed. It is possible Plant (and LZ) might not be happy enough w/ the performance to release it all cleaned up and mastered, as there were a few noticeable blunders on there, and an

Both bands can be commended for their recent efforts, and both could be criticized. On one hand, yes, the Stones continue to tour, raking in zillions of $$, while LZ (Plant) refuses... but while we love their shows (Stones), the stage set gets bigger and bigger and Keith plays fewer and fewer notes... Mick's voice is strong, but he's in his 60's and relies on the backing vocals

1. Wandering Spirit 2. Goddess in the DW 3. Shes the Boss 4. Prim Cool WS is obviously the strongest of the bunch, but I think Goddess is a better listen than the other two. For me, there are only a couple tracks that annoy me there, like Joy (even though I think Bono sings well on it) and Visions-- which simply sound waaay too top40 to me, almost like sitcom theme music. Cheesy guitar

I love the Moodies, and have seen them a few times in the 80's. The magical albums are from 67 to 72, then they had a few decent tunes in the late 70's thru mid-80's, but really went into royal lameness at that point in terms of their studio output. I am a BIG fan of their early stuff, but can't even stomach most of the later stuff. It's awful (imo). There was a re

Indeed. I was on iTunes and it appears five or six tracks from this album are on the 'Essential' compilation, but the whole album was great, not just a few tracks. Tunes like 'Windsurfer' were terrific. Some folks didn't like that Wilbury/ Jeff Lynne sound, and the album may be a little bit 80-s-sounding, but the tunes are just great, and I kept the cassette around, al

Was this not one of RO's best selling albums?? Anyone know why it is not in print currently? It's available, or findable, but it seems it is not in production. I wonder what the story is behind this. Perhaps it will be re-released sometime soon as a remaster? The latest one I saw out thhere is from '92. I loved this album... great stuff on there, and great band...

Just watching a bit of the Oscars, and one of the Plant/Krauss songs is already on a JC Penny ad. I've seen a LOT of great music lately on TV ads, and I hate it. Good way to ruin (or at least waste) a good song. Tunes By Plant/Krauss, Wilco, Kings of Leon, the Stones, the Who, all sold off to sell products. Somehow, when those tunes are in my cd player, they are less special if I've

I have to say I love the early period just as much... esp. Space Oddity and Hunky Dory. No stylism there, just great music. And then Scary Monsters (from 1980) is among my very favorites... perhaps his last truly great album. If I try hhard enough, I can enjoy his last few, but nothing like SM and before. My faves are: SM, SO, HD, Lodger, Low, RAFOZS, and then spatterings of everything els
